September 2007

A nice lil’ birdie told me that after Kanye’s SNL performance, Jay-Z threw him a dope private after-party at the 4040 Club. You know, just Jay-Z and Just Blaze on stage, and Hov playing/performing new material off “American Gangster,” and then dispensing free drinks to the crowd, and then Hov rhyming along as Just spun, and Beyonce and LeBron partying until 5 in the morning…..nothing out of the ordinary. Lol, yeah right! Sounds like a legendary night!

Anyways, thanks to Nigel over at RealTalkNY : here’s Kanye’s freestyle at the end of SNL. I loved that he did it (because I’ve never heard so many songs from a brand new album performed in public. I’m almost sick of them already), but not sure if I actually loved the freestyle itself. I’m open for debate. What do you think?

And here’s Kanye’s self-deprecating skit about his notorious tantrums. It was a lil’ stiff but still hilarious….

I love Timbaland. As an artist, he’s always been nothing but kind and polite to me. I remember way back in the day I did a story on him for Vibe and we visited his Virginia mini-mansion. The entire house was laced in white marble and white shag and white leather seating. (New money!)…But I noticed in the foyer there was this odd statue of a golfer. So I asked, do you play golf? And Tim said, “No, but when I bought the house from this older guy, I loved how it was decorated so I bought the whole thing as is.” With all the furniture. And the crazy golf statue too.

Anyways, I digress. So what I’ve started loving more recently is how Timbaland just says whatever’s on his mind, good look or not. It’s refreshingly unfiltered, and sometimes borderline inappropriate, usually hilarious, possibly delusional, and always entertaining.

For example, today Tim told my MTV News pals about a conversation that he had with Jay-Z about the “American Gangster” album….

“He wants me to do the next single,” Tim said. “He just does it for fun. We talked about [his next album]. He says it’s just a hobby, ain’t nothing else to do. When a person tells you that, what you supposed to say? ‘You crazy’? He said, ‘I don’t wait for nothing. I’m there. I’m doing it for the love of music.’ What am I supposed to say? ‘You wack for doing it’? … Some people think Jay fell off. Or he’s just over people’s head. I think that’s what it is. That’s another thing: It could hurt him or it could make him be not the legend he is. That’s the only thing I’m scared of for my friend.”

hmm, that’s interesting. I can’t imagine doing a whole concept album is that much of a spontaneous whim for Hov, but if Tim says so…And Tim also said this about his involvement in Missy Elliott’s upcoming album.

“I probably won’t do the whole thing ’cause I gotta get my own thing up and poppin’. I can’t make [Missy’s recording home] Atlantic [Records] money. Nothing personal. We had a time and a crazy run, but I gotta get my own indie label poppin’… That don’t make logical sense. Missy is my sister, but I got a family: Nelly [Furtado], Keri [Hilson], One Republic. These are all my people I’m putting out. Up-and-coming stars that are gonna keep me laying low for a minute so I can chill out and take a vacation. I went on one for the first time in 15 years. I wanna take more. While they are working, I can chill out and collect the money. … Well, not collect the money, just be involved as a daddy figure… I put my face out there and became this great star. Now I’m worldwide. From Africa to Israel.

Adorable.

So if you liked Dick Shiitman’s reports with T-Pain at Screamfest, and Kenny Chesney’s country renditions of Kanye and 50, then Merry Christmas. Mr. Shittman will be sending your girl Info his latest every two weeks. If you don’t like them, kick rocks.

And if you want to know more about Dick, here’s his unedited bio….

Who’s responsible for this bullshit?
Created by hip-hop anchorman and porn-enthusiast, Dick Shittman, Hood Newz started airing as segment on New York’s Hot 97 Morning Show in 2004. The show lasted 2 days, 5 hours and 34 seconds. Radio caught the shivers when Janet Jackson exposed her titties worldwide and began to be watched by the man up in the nation’s capitol.

[NOTE FROM MISSINFO: That 2-days, 5 hours and 34 seconds were the longest 2-days, 5 hours and 34 seconds of my life. Trust me, it got ugly.]

Hood Newz pulled a Howard Stern and found its way unto Sirius radio via Eminem’s Shade 45. The more graphic and offensive sketches developed a following through 50 Cent’s popular G-Unit mix-tapes; released monthly by 50’s internationally known DJ Whoo Kid. With millions of Whoo Kid mixtapes (s’lot of money you cheap Haitian) sold around the world, Hood Newz has gained a following that has spanned across the globe.

Who is Dick Shittman?
Alaska native, Richard “Dick” Shittman is a former anchorman fired from his own public access news show on WFUX in Pennsylvania. After several attempts at becoming a major news channel anchorman, Dick opted to start his own show, financed by his stepfather Taeka Shittman and his Armanian investors. An avid fan of hip-hop music, Dick Shittman enjoys the sounds Kanye West, M.O.P, Aesop Rock, Mozart, Wham!, Neil Diamond and desperately awaits for the long overdue solo album from Staten Island’s own, U-God.

How can I avoid this?
Not possible. As long as hip-hop continues it’s ways, Hood Newz will be there covering it every step of the way to insure that the culture is preserved and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…
…who the fuck are we kidding? Anybody can get it.
Sweet Dreams,
Dick Shiitman
Lead Anchor, Hood Newz

Ah the irony….Beanie Sigel and Freeway spitting over a beat by that guy who needs to come out the closet because his silk shirts open aint cool…..aka Kanye West. But cool enough to spit hot fire over, eh?

Seriously though, I hope Beans and ‘Ye resolve their issues (perhaps with a lucid and sincere apology, Beans?) because Beans is an amazing artist (Just Blaze’s “Bread and Butter”=genius) and his boss’ latest whim (“it’s just a hobby, ain’t nothing else to do”) has pretty much bumped his project to Nev’uary 2008. (more on that later).

PS: big up to my homie Young Sav at Topline, Im hearing that Hov is grooming you for big things ; ) Go Kendall!

Please forgive us.

Here’s what the LA-Times reported today….

“A prison inmate who had implicated a former Los Angeles Police Department officer in the shooting death of rap star Biggie Smalls has renounced his story, tying a new knot in the tangle of intrigue that surrounds the still-unsolved killing.

Waymond Anderson, who was briefly a top-selling R&B artist and is serving a life term for murder, said in a recent deposition that he lied about LAPD involvement in the Smalls slaying as part of a “scam” concocted by two other convicts to squeeze a large monetary settlement out of the city.
Smalls’ family has filed a wrongful death suit seeking damages from the city. In a surprising twist, Anderson accused the rapper’s family and its lawyer of participating in the scheme and offering to pay him for false testimony implicating the LAPD….

He said he was offered a percentage of any settlement if he testified that former Los Angeles Officer Rafael Perez had told him that another ex-officer, David Mack, was involved in the murder. In the deposition, he repudiated earlier statements to police investigators in which he described conversations with both of the disgraced officers.

“I don’t know David Mack, I don’t know Rafael Perez,” Anderson told lawyers representing relatives of the slain rapper, whose real name was Christopher Wallace.

The two officers “had no involvement with the . . . murder,” Anderson said under oath. At various points in the deposition, he said, “It was a lie, and I’m ashamed of it,” and, “I did what I had to do to survive….”

From the diabolical Gomez Brothers (Shade45) and my homie RM….

the giggle fit kind of reminded me of Dr. Evil, but I was still highly entertained. And relieved that LL didnt fall for the banana in the tailpipe.

Wouldnt it be awesome if this extra-light bump, inspired James Todd to reach deep inside and find another “to da break of dawn”? Now that would be a great battle.

ok, so for those of you who watched me and 50 chop it up last week, or maybe you snuck into 50’s 5-Borough tour with me via Missinfo.tv……I’m gonna load up the WebCam, and take everyone to Central Park with me, for tomorrow’s show. Depending on what time it is, we’ll see MF Doom, Pharoahe Monch, my pals Teriyaki Boyz and Nigo, and a special guest : )

So check back here on Sat afternoon/evening….

Miss Info Live!

My boy Rik Cordero directed a new video, well, its sort of a video, more like a pre-video, for Jay-Z’s “Blue Magic” single, featuring cameos from Enuff and Clue. And hopefully this means the homie will be shooting something for “American Gangster” if the suits know what’s good for them.

But tonite, Jay-Z and Pharrell were in Chelsea shooting the main video for “Blue Magic,” with, who else, Hype Williams. Remember when directors would shoot a video and it would be out 2-3 months later? This joint better be up on youtube within two weeks, or else some savvy hip hop nerd will just animate their own clip send it to Crunktastical : )

If you happen to be watching TV on Saturday at, oh, 350am….check out the MTV News crew’s feature on R.Kelly and why people aren’t creeped out enough by him to stop working with him…..lol, well, that among other things, like his upcoming trial etc. I sat down with the producers to speak on the topic, but there are plenty more interesting folks in the piece as well. Big up to Conor Bezane and all my pals over at 1515 Broadway, 29th floor : )

I don’t quite understand why the programmers at MTV stick interesting stuff like this into slots like 350am saturday or 850am monday, especially when so much hard work goes into making them, and its not like they have something better to run instead (the Hills, Next, Made replays)….but here are the airtimes.
