I’d like to be the first to congratulate Swizz Beatz and his wife Alicia Keys on their wedding celebration that happened today (Sat. July. 31st, 2010). Swizz hit me up about the festivities last week, but I promised to keep it under wraps until the big day.
The couple brought together an intimate gathering of family and friends and celebrated their new marriage and their baby on the way, aboard a 260-foot yacht on the Mediterranean Sea, near Sardinia’s uber-exclusive Costa Smeralda enclave* (think St.Tropez-swag on 100-thousand-trillion, lol).UPDATE: The wedding ceremony was held on land at a beautiful estate in Corsica, while the boat partying was part of the celebration. Check out here: Swizz and Alicia’s Wedding Photos
Moving from social media to old-guard music media, Kanye took his album gospel to Rolling Stone headquarters….and they reported that:
“Kanye West hosted an incredible, nearly two-hour Town Hall-style meeting at Rolling Stone this afternoon, where he played songs from his fall album, jumped up on a board room table to spontaneously rap, and fielded questions about everything from his diet (“Eating celery is not hip-hop!”) to his Italian internship at Fendi to the craziest thing he’s ever bought (an antique fish tank)”
In the clip, above, Kanye says:
“Everyone says great art comes from pain, I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy. It’s a completely different perspective, about being extremely excited about something that’s only cool to me….like when I tweeted ‘what’s your credenza game?‘”
“People fall short of the greatness of rock and roll…It takes so much for me or Eminem to come back and embrace and say, ‘You know what? We have to deliver this on a major level.’”
Note 1: I guess it was inevitable that Kanye would start referencing his own tweets, but I didn’t think it would start happening within 48 hours of joining, lol.
Note 2: Also, as the 2010 Kanye Table Tour continues, might I suggest adding a rider contract for all future venues, with this line: “Mr. West requires central air-conditioning at all times. Any room temperature capable of rendering an cotton dress-shirt into wet see-thru chiffon is unacceptable.” (seriously Rolling Stone. WTF)

Aww! One of my all-time favorite hip hop couples tied the knot today in South Beach, Miami, according to TMZ. I had heard that it was going down tomorrow, which means the big celebration is probably going down tomorrow (and all weekend long). The report says that the Harris’ got hitched in a secret ceremony at the Miami Beach courthouse, and here is some of the documentation….
UPDATE:Us Magazine adds more details about T.I. and Tiny’s weekend that, frankly, sound unfeasible. They claim that on Saturday, the couple will exchange vows in front of friends and family, and then jet to Atlanta for a reception….and then jet to Las Vegas to party the night away. Why squeeze 3 states into one day? There’s always Sunday, lol. We’ll see what happens.
UPDATE 2: Now this sounds more like it. Unlike the Us’ 3-city tour theory, People reports that Tip and Tiny held a reception on Miami’s Star Island on Saturday, and then are getting to Las Vegas to party:
“T.I. (real name Clifford Harris), who wore a custom-made Prada tuxedo, and his bride exchanged vows in front of celebrity friends Chilli and Kandi from Real Housewives of Atlanta at Miami’s Star Island on Saturday. The newlyweds plan to fly Vegas and wrap up their wedding weekend with a third bash in Las Vegas on Sunday. In nontraditional fashion, they traveled to Europe for their honeymoon last month before tying the knot.”
Tiny is the definition of a true ride-or-die chick. And personally I think he’s very lucky to have her as a partner and as the mother to his kids. I hope her ailing dad is able to take part in the celebration with the rest of the Harris and Cottle clan : )
Remember that monster engagement ring?…..after the jump (more…)
I really like that Yelawolf and Gucci song that leaked earlier, and Gucc just told Atlanta’s DJ Greg Street that his upcoming album, The Appeal, will drop on Sept 28th. Yes, as YAF points out, that is also the same projected date as Young Jeezy’s Thug Motivation 103 and T.I.’s King Uncaged album! But while that has dramatic potential, just knowing how dates move around all the time, I’m not reading too far into it yet.
Now last time I spoke to Gucci, he said that he really bonded with Swizz Beats and knocked out an album’s worth of songs with him in just a few days. Some of those have already leaked (gmail hacks? enterprising studio assts? sloppy crewmembers?), but so far they sound pretty craze. However, I’m more looking forward to that evolved hood s–t from Gucci and his veteran team….which is on board too.
Gucci’s Appeal collaborators include: Swizz, Wyclef, Pharrell, Drummaboy, Zaytoven, Shawty Red, and he says, “It’s the combination of people that I’ve been working with for the last 6-7 years, and the new people that I been want to work with….[we made hit records] and picked the best ones.”
Next up….we need that Rick Ross x Gucci “MC Hammer” video that they shot during Ross’ King of Diamonds party ; )
Listen to Gucci Mane x Swizz Beats “It’s Gucci Time”
New Music: Yelawolf feat. Gucci Mane “Wanna Party”
Mikey: Yela hooks up with Gucci for some good ol Southern funk. They actually shot the music video 2 days after recording the record. Expect that to be arriving shortly. (Props 2Dopeboyz) MissInfo: Haha! I love this song! Why are white girls getting all the love, LOL. (wait til that K-Town reality show start….then the tide shall turn. just kidding….sort of…..im actually dreading it.)
(Kanye and the “Power” video’s co-creator Marco Brambilla on set)
Mikey: Yesterday, the NYT gave us a written preview of Ye’s highly anticipated music video for his single “Power”, but TheWorldsBestEver liberated 2 more flicks from the shoot and a few more tidbits of what we can expect.
“Some notes from the upcoming video (out in August):
•Kanye in an orgy of decadence and destruction with mostly-nude models including Diandra Forrest, Jessica White, and Irina Shayk.
•Inspired by Michelangelo’s frescos in the Sistine Chapel
•Nihilism is part of the message”
Mikey: Sports Illustrated’s Pablo Torre was granted an incredibly honest and revealing interview with Iron Mike Tyson this past Spring. Over the course of 2 days and 8 hours, Torre was given the intimate details of Mike’s struggles with drugs, women, and the trials and tribulations brought on by his rise to fame. Check out a few excerpts below. (Props B.Dot/RR)
SI: I imagine you have a few stories from your days as a junkie.
Mike Tyson: Listen: I was in St. Tropez, in the South of France. In Ibiza, Spain. I was in Monte Carlo. I was in the Ukraine, Russia, all those places, for three months. From Russia I went to Lisbon, Portgual, from Portugal I went to Amsterdam. In Amsterdam I met this drug dealer, right? And he sees that I like getting high, and he wants to be my buddy, right? This guy goes and gets me a big rock of cocaine. So pretty soon I got a party going on. I got everything: I got these rugby players. I got these naked girls, I got all these … everything’s going on in the room. Plus I also had this girl with me that I picked up in Romania. But then [the dealer he met in Amsterdam] saw how much of a mess I was. He came in and kicked everybody out of my room! All the nude people, all the people having sex. He said, “I feel so bad I ever gave him that stuff.” (Continued after the jump)
Mikey: This ish is r e t ar d e d. Cosmo Baker & Skratch Bastid mixed Cutty Ranks’s“Limb By Limb” acapella with The U.N.’s “Speakin In Tungs”, the result is another dancefloor killa. (Props PDS)
haha, it’s funny watching the homie Tim Westwood discuss Trey Songz’ sex simulation scene from his London concert. Eek. But one thing we have learned is…if you’d like to get pulled on stage and tongued down by Trey. Just attend in a “I Love Trey” muscle-tee, lol.
As for his “Bottoms Up” duet-partner Nicki Minaj, at the 19-minute mark, Trey is pressed to give her a rating on the scale of 1 thru 10, he stops short of a perfect 10 (because really, who’s perfect? lol), and rates her “9.48976.”
Nice! Newly joined Twitter-sensation, Bun B just blessed us with another song off his upcoming Trill OG album : ) This time featuring Trey Songz, along with vocals from the late Pimp C and Tupac. Thank you, Bun.
New Music: Bun B feat. Trey Songz, Pimp C and Tupac “Right Now”
