Mother Monster will be taking to the biggest stage in sports next year. It has been announced (and confirmed) that Lady Gaga will perform at the 2017 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show. “It’s not an illusion. The rumors are true. This year the SUPER BOWL goes GAGA! @nfl @FOXTV @pepsi #PERFECTILLUSION #GAGASUPERBOWL,” said Gaga, who tweeted the announcement on Thursday night (Sep. 29).

In recent weeks, various reports had the final candidates down to Lady Gaga or Adele to headline Super Bowl 51 next year. One of the main reasons Lady Gaga was chosen? Her incredible performance of the U.S. National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 back in February. “I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate,” she told NFL.com “This is one of the highest honors of my career.”

The 30-year-old joins an iconic list of past performers that include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Diana Ross, Prince, U2, The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and the trio of Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars at Super Bowl 50 earlier this year. The news comes as Lady Gaga will be releasing her new solo album JOANNE on Oct. 21. The 2017 NFL Super Bowl takes place on February 5, 2017, at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
