After giving us a first dose of FEVER with “Laugh Now Cry Later” last month, Black Milk is back with a second serving from his upcoming album. “True Lies” features gorgeous live production — as standard for Milk’s music — but the subject matter is anything but pretty as the Detroit native wrestles with similar social issues that inspired his last album, If There’s a Hell Below. “Was born into a Hell / So you already fell / They say don’t live life on the edge / Man, I might as well,” he raps on the hook.

FEVER drops February 23.

Illinois rapper Frank Leone, who’s worked with the likes of Vic Mensa and Nico Segal (fka Donnie Trumpet), makes his return in profound fashion with this new track called “Huffing Paint.” Premiered by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 earlier this week, the self-produced song finds Frank wrestling with the death of his close friend, Westley Banks, who committed suicide last year. While the subject matter is obviously pretty heavy, the gorgeous, glitchy production gives Frank’s grief a strangely upbeat vibe. Because everyone needs light during dark times.
