saved-by-the-bell

For those not keeping track, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is currently on the road, and stopped in Los Angeles for the week. After a brilliant parody of the iconic Fresh Prince of Bel-Air intro on Monday, Fallon returned on Wednesday night with another ’90s trip down memory lane.

Jimmy wanted to “reminisce” about his time at Bayside High School, meaning a reunion of the cast from Saved By The Bell. Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani-Amber Thiessen), A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez), Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley) and a much heavier Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins), all make appearances, figuring out their dates for the upcoming Valentine’s Day dance. Along with revisiting classic moments from the television sitcom’s wonder years (Slater’s ballet dancing, the crew’s “Friends Forever” under their Zack Attack group), someone finds out they’re pregnant.

black dynamite the wizard of watts

Adult Swim’s Black Dynamite — an animated adaptation of the 2009 film of the same name — is capping off its second season with a special musical episode packed with powerful racial commentary and a star-studded cast. Titled “The Wizard of Watts,” the season finale is set in the Magical Land of Oz-Watts, where its army of oppressive pigs finally become defeated through the melting powers of good old fashioned camcorders.

The primary villain in the Magical Land of Oz-Watts, where the story takes place, is a vicious pig clad in riot gear. Water does not neutralize this Oz villain; instead this baddie gets melted with a camcorder. “Oh, no! Not an irrefutable visual record of my illegal actions!” the anthropomorphized pig wails as he turns to mush at the musical’s climax. (via New York Times)

The episode was actually conceived two years ago, but feels all the more timely given the tragic events that took place in Ferguson and Staten Island last year. Tyler, The Creator, Chance The Rapper and Erykah Badu all lend their voices to the musical special, which airs on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim tomorrow night (January 10).

meow the jewels

El-P and Killer Mike haven’t even dropped Run The Jewels 2 yet, and already they’re about to start on a hilarious reworked version of the album featuring nothing but cat sounds (you read that right). The idea, dubbed Meow The Jewels, was floated by the duo as a joke a few months ago, until one fan launched a Kickstarter to fund the project. Always up for a laugh, El-P and Killer Mike agreed to the album if the Kickstarter reached $45,100 — and lo and behold, it smashed that target this week by over $10,000. The pair plan to donate all the additional profits to the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown.

Aside from a “shit load of cats,” Meow The Jewels will also feature contributions from a star-studded cast including Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Dan the Automator, Baauer, Prince Paul, Skywlkr, BOOTS, Geoff Barrow, Zola Jesus, Nick Rook and Solidified Sun. No word on when the album will be cozying up on shelves, but you can pick up the meow-less version of Run The Jewels 2 on October 28.

Miss Info: Sure we’ve had some great music drops and some unfortunate hip hop romance revelations today…but above all, this is my favorite thing on the internet today. It’s wholly un-rap-related, but if you are an actual human being and not a bot…you’ll also melt into a puddle of feels like I just did.
KLM Airlines has hired a beagle named Sherlock to act as their instant lost-and-found delivery system. After a plane has un-boarded (de-boarded?), the KLM stewardesses check for any forgotten items, and when they find them…they call Sherlock, who takes the item in his KLM utility vest, runs through the airport, and scent-tracks the rightful owner.
Agggh! It’s so adorable I can’t even handle it!

UPDATE: To commemorate what would have been 2Pac’s 43rd birthday, Danny has updated The Rap Test with The Pac Test, which also features an interactive map of all his classic songs and videos. Check it out here.
