Kanye West headed home to Chicago this week. Along with a handful of interviews that have already created headlines, the G.O.O.D. Music recording artist was in town to work with Chance the Rapper. In a quick interview while leaving a building in downtown Chicago, Kanye revealed he was back in the Windy City to work on Chance’s new album. Producer Zaytoven would later post a photo on Instagram on himself in studio with Yeezy and Chano.

West even shared some of the magic being made, uploading a video to Twitter on Thursday morning (Aug. 30). In the clip, Kanye and Chance celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday by working on a record that samples the Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye.” Back in July, both Kanye and Chance confirmed they were set to work on a new album in their hometown this summer.

The Weeknd graces the cover of TIME’s “Next Generation Leaders” issue. The cover story, done by Kara Brown, touches on the XO crooner’s rise to superstar status, headlining Coachella 2018, and the release of his The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy, EP. Serving as his first interview since 2016, the Toronto singer touches on his music resonating with millennials, relationships, and scrapping an album prior to putting on his chart-topping EP.

“Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done,” Tesfaye says. “Which wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life.” I ask if that album, presumably recorded while he was still with Gomez, was more upbeat. “Yeah,” he says. “It was very upbeat—it was beautiful.” But he scrapped the project because he’s moved past that part of his life. “I don’t want to perform something that I don’t feel,” he says. Will we ever hear it? “Never,” he insists.

Just days after releasing “Ye vs. the People,” Kanye West is giving fans a look into the recording process of his T.I.-collaboration. Uploaded to his website, the behind-the-scenes clip sees Kanye and T.I. huddled with a group of people where they discuss West’s recent support of Donald Trump. “Me putting the hat on, forces an evolution,” says Kanye, referring to wearing Trump’s infamous MAGA hat. “Because there’s…even for me, I know so much more in the past three days. Because I’m getting this energy, positive or negative, agreeing with me, disagreeing with me.”

When I wear that hat, it’s a fight for equality,” he later says. Kanye and Tip are later seen moving over to the microphone, where they record their verses as Mike Dean observes from the background. Watch the clip below.

The official kickoff to festival season started on Friday, as Day 1 of Coachella 2018 began at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA. The Weeknd headlined opening night with an electrifying set of hits, while SZA was joined by TDE labelmates Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, plus Trippie Redd. Snoop Dogg brought the good vibes to Jamiroquai’s set, meanwhile Belly was joined by Rich the Kid and NAV over at the GOBI Tent. Chance the Rapper and H.E.R. made guest appearances earlier in the day for KYLE and Daniel Caesar’s sets respectively.

The major highlight from Day 1 came from the latest social media sensation, Mason Ramsey. Dubbed the “Walmart Kid,” Ramsey was invited by DJ/producer Whethan to yodel “Lovesick Blues” as Justin Bieber was enjoying the moment from backstage. A Coachella regular, Rihanna, was spotted moving around the Polo Club grounds watching a few of the late-night sets. Vince Staples (with Kendrick Lamar), Rita Ora, Jamie Foxx, Kelela, Steve Aoki also highlighted a busy first day. Check out some photos and video below.

The Barbz can calm down, Nicki Minaj and Quavo have moved past their “Motor Sport” rift. While premiering her two new singles last week, Nicki Minaj sat down with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio for an extended candid interview. During the conversation, an emotional Minaj expressed disappointment in the Migos star for not backing her up when the “Motor Sport” controversy with Cardi B first popped up. Nicki’s hardcore fans flooded Quavo’s Instagram account, firing back at the Atlanta rapper for now defending their Queen.

The two have no resolved their issues. “He apologized. Y’all can stop torturing him now. 🤣 The Generous Queen FORGIVES,” tweeted the Young Money Queen. Shortly after, Minaj posted a video of the two in the studio and later were spotted together taking in Day 1 of Coachella 2018 on Friday night (Apr. 13). Nicki would later post a clip from a Coachella after party, where she’s seen with Quavo, Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Travi$ Scott and Chance the Rapper.

Cardi B’s Invasion of Privacy is finally here. With her long-awaited debut album now out and in-stores, the Bronx star now shifts focus to her upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live this weekend. Serving as musical guest, the “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker is joined this weekend’s guest host, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. Leading up to the show, SNL drops a promo ad starring Cardi B, Boseman, and comedian Leslie Jones. Filled with Black Panther references and Cardi’s trademark ad-libs, watch below.

The Migos will invade Saturday Night Live this weekend, with special guest host Charles Barkley. Ahead of the live broadcast, the Atlanta trio and NBA Hall of Famer appear in a new promo spot for the upcoming episode. In the clip, Sir Charles gets ahead of himself, interrupting Offset and SNL‘s Kate McKinnon going back-and-forth with their personal shout outs. Quavo, Offset and Takeoff will appear as musical guests, performing tracks off their No. 1 album CULTURE II.

Drake’s dominance on the charts continued, when his new single “God’s Plan” debuted No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week. Remaining at the top spot for a second straight record, the infectious smash-hit appears to have a music video on the way. On Monday (Feb. 5), the 6 God was spotted in the sunshine state, filming a visual for the track at Miami Senior High School in Miami, FL. Surrounded by thousands of screaming fans, Drake is seen filming various scenes on the school grounds, including a drone-filmed shot in the air where he’s lifted by a crane.

In one fan-captured video, Drake is seen reportedly donating at $50,000 check to the school’s music department. The Toronto rapper also promised the school OVO-designed uniforms.
