The American Music Awards lineup is getting loaded with newly announced performers. Days after Cardi B joined the fun, the AMAs revealed on Friday (Sept. 28) that Ciara, Missy Elliott, and Dua Lipa have been added as performers. For Cici and Missy, the two reunited on the former’s “Level Up” remix back in the summer. The trio of leading ladies join a star-studded performer list that includes Mariah Carey, Benny Blanco with Halsey and Khalid, Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Carrie Underwood.

Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the 2018 AMAs airs live on Oct. 9 at 8:00 p.m EST on ABC. Cardi B and Drake lead the way with eight nominations each.

Cardi B will invade the American Music Awards next month. The rap star was announced as a performer on Wednesday (Sept. 27) (via Billboard), set to do her “I Like It” collaboration with Bad Bunny and J Balvin for the first-time live. It will be Cardi B’s first awards show performance since giving birth to her daughter Kulture back in July. The Bronx native ties Drake for most nominations at this year’s AMAs, with eight nods each.

Drake and Cardi B’s domination this year continues. The Canadian superstar and Bronx rapper lead the 2018 American Music Awards nominations. Announced on Wednesday (Sept. 12), the 6 God and Bardi each received 8 nods for this year’s AMAs. Drake will face-off against Imagine Dragons, Post Malone, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift for the night’s biggest award – “Artist of the Year.” Cardi B’s long list of nominations include “New Artist of the Year,” “Collaboration of the Year” and “Video of the Year.”

Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, Post Malone and Taylor Swift also lead this year’s nominees. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the 2018 AMAs takes place on Oct. 9 live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. John Legend made history on Sunday night (Sept. 9). The singer/activist became first black man to land the prestigious and coveted EGOT status. Considered the holy grail of performance accolades, the EGOT status is when an entertainer receives an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. The 39-year-old completed the collection at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, winning an Emmy for producing the best variety special Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. Legend won the award along with fellow producers Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, who also joined the short list of EGOT status inductees.

“Before tonight, only 12 people had won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony in competitive categories. Sirs Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice and I joined that group when we won an Emmy for our production of their legendary show Jesus Christ Superstar,” said a proud John Legend in an Instagram post. “So happy to be part of this team. So honored they trusted me to play Jesus Christ. So amazed to be in such rarefied air. #EGOT.” John Legend is also up for the Emmy for outstanding actor in a limited series or movie, which will awarded during the Primetime Emmy Awards. The soulful crooner played the role of Jesus in NBC’s production of the 1970 concept album-turned-Broadway musical. The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards airs Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

Jennifer Lopez joined an iconic list on Monday night (Aug. 20) at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. The pop star was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, joining the previous recipients like Madonna, Janet Jackson, LL Cool J, Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, and Kanye West. With a shimmering gold and glamorous set, J. Lo delivered a ten-minute medley performance of hits from her long career. The show stopping show included surprise appearances by Ja Rule for “I’m Real” and “Ain’t It Funny,” and DJ Khaled as hypeman during “Dinero.”

“I grew up on MTV and this is really like a tremendous honor for me. It’s been an incredible journey of dreaming my wildest dreams and kind of watching them come true,” said the 49-year-old Bronx native during her acceptance speech. Along with her loving family, J. Lo also took time to thank her boyfriend, former baseball star Alex Rodriguez. “You’re like my twin soul,” she said. “We’re like mirror images of each other. My life is sweeter and better with you in it.”

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards invaded the city that never sleeps, as the VMAs took over Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Monday night (Aug. 20). Cardi B had the honor of getting the party started, opening the VMAs with a brief and hilarious monologue. The 35th annual show featured performances by Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, Logic with Ryan Tedder, Shawn Mendes, Aerosmith, Jessie Reyez and more.

Jennifer Lopez received the biggest honor of the night, as the recipient of this year’s Video Vanguard award, as Cardi B leads the VMAs with 10 nominations.

The hottest stars is music have all made their way to the Big Apple for the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Taking place at the famed Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Monday night (Aug. 20), Cardi B leads the VMAs with 10 nominations this year, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” and “Best Hip-Hop.” Cardi B also makes her long-awaited return to the stage, opening the 2018 VMAs. It serves as the Bronx rapper’s first performance since the birth of her baby daughter Kulture. Nicki Minaj is returning to the VMAs. The Young Money Queen was announced as a performer on Thursday (Aug. 9). The news comes one day after Post Malone and Travi$ Scott were added to this year’s Video Music Awards lineup. Minaj, whose new album Queen arrives next Friday (Aug. 17), joins Ariana Grande, Logic with Ryan Tedder, and Shawn Mendes as performers.
