It’s New Year’s Eve, which means Skillz come through with his annual “Rap Up.” As the year comes to an end, the Virginia native looks back at the past 365 days in pop, media culture. Hear Skillz recap on major headlines like the Drake vs. Pusha T beef, Black Panther, Bill Cosby being sentenced to prison, the royal wedding, Machine Gun Kelly vs. Eminem, Will Smith joining Instagram and more. On the 2018 edition, Skillz even recruits Lil’ Duval who remixes his own “Smile” smash-hit throughout the song.

21 Savage earns his first No. 1 album as i am > i was debuts at the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. Released on Dec. 21, the Atlanta rapper’s sophomore LP moved 131,000 equivalent album units opening week (18,000 in traditional album sales), according to Nielsen Music. 21’s previous highest-charting project was his studio debut Issa Album, which peaked at No. 2 in 2017.
i am > i was has been praised since is release, already being mentioned as one of 2018’s best projects. J. Cole, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Childish Gambino, ScHoolboy Q, Offset of Migos, Lil Baby, Gunna, City Girls, Project Pat & Young Nudy all make guest appearances.

Over the past few years, DeJ Loaf has been working on her debut album Liberated. Time has passed and to date the project has yet to be released. In the meantime, Lil’ Loaf has continued to put out records to hold fans over. As the year comes to an end, the Detroit native drops her new EP Go DeJ Go Vol. 1. Coming in at six tracks, the EP includes songs like last month’s “Who Gone Stop Us.”

21 Savage’s i am > i was sophomore album is receiving plenty of praise since its release last week. Shortly after dropping it on Friday (Dec. 21), the Atlanta rapper revealed the project was missing a verse from Travis Scott and that it would arrive in due time. In an interview with The Breakfast Club, 21 further explained that Scott sent the finished product the night before his album dropped and because of technical issues was left off.
A man of his word, 21 Savage dropped “Out for the Night, Pt. 2” with La Flame shortly after midnight on Christmas Eve. The track is now added as a bonus on the deluxe edition of i am > i was on iTunes and all streaming services. Hear it below.
