Curren$y continues a busy 2018, which includes a recent flood of music this summer. The New Orleans rapper closes out the warmer season with the mixtape, Fire in the Clouds. Following May’s The Marina EP with Harry Fraud, Spitta’s new project is 12 songs that includes “Specialist,” “A Sign of Things to Come” and “Pay Scale.”
Larry June and Jet Life’s T.Y. make guest appearances on the mixtape, out everywhere now. Stream Fire in the Clouds below.

As the entertainment world continues to mourn the loss of Aretha Franklin, H.E.R. keeps her legacy going. The R&B singer decides to pay tribute to the Queen of Soul on a new record, “Let’s Get Away.” The song, which samples Aretha’s 1972 classic “Day Dreaming,” is a somber track where H.E.R.’s soulful vocals carries the beautiful stripped down song.

Saweetie gives a tour of The Bay in her new music video, “Up Now.” In collaboration with producer London On Da Track, the single gets a supporting visual where Saweetie, G-Eazy and E-40 bring the party to some famous locations in their hometown of Oakland. With Rich the Kid joining the fun, the crew turn Oaktown’s famous Oakland Alameda Coliseum into their personal playground in the feel-good visual.

Kanye West headed home to Chicago this week. Along with a handful of interviews that have already created headlines, the G.O.O.D. Music recording artist was in town to work with Chance the Rapper. In a quick interview while leaving a building in downtown Chicago, Kanye revealed he was back in the Windy City to work on Chance’s new album. Producer Zaytoven would later post a photo on Instagram on himself in studio with Yeezy and Chano.
West even shared some of the magic being made, uploading a video to Twitter on Thursday morning (Aug. 30). In the clip, Kanye and Chance celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday by working on a record that samples the Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye.” Back in July, both Kanye and Chance confirmed they were set to work on a new album in their hometown this summer.

Jay Rock released the music video for “Rotation 112th” last week, the latest visual in support of the Watts MC’s Redemption LP. The TDE spitter now comes with an official remix, bringing in Atlanta’s Rich the Kid on the updated version. Rich the Kid is no stranger to collaborating with the Top Dawg camp. RTK saw success last year with the Kendrick Lamar-featured “New Freezer.”

Bun B is back to the music in full force, with his new album Return of the Trill set to drop on August 31. The 14-track LP features guest appearances by Lil’ Wayne, Run the Jewels, 2 Chainz, Gary Clark Jr, 8Ball and MJG, Yo Gotti, Slim Thug, Leon Bridges, Giggs and more. The legendary MC/activist recently dropped the single “Recognize” featuring Big K.R.I.T. and Tip. The trio now returns with an official music video directed by Mr. Boomtown.
The UGK member also paid a visit to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club this week. Bun B sat down with the morning show to discuss stepping away music, Return of the Trill, being an independent artist, Gumball 3000, family life, and more. Watch the “Recognize” video and see Bun B’s interview below.

6LACK’s sophomore album, East Atlanta Love Letter, arrives next month on September 14. The follow-up to the Grammy-nominated FREE 6LACK is lead by the singles “Switch” and “Nonchalant.” After ripping a freestyle on Sway in the Morning earlier this week, the Atlanta singer unveils the official album artwork. On the cover, 6LACK is seen balancing father duties. With a child sitting on his chest in a sling, the singer shows a studio setup inside a kitchen.
This fall, 6LACK witll embark on a fall/winter world tour with supporting acts Tierra Whack, Summer Walker, THEY. and Boogie. See the cover below.

The final of four sold-out MSG shows of Drake’s “Aubrey & The Three Migos” tour went down on Tuesday night (Aug. 28) at Madison Square Garden in NYC. After bringing him out in Toronto, Drake surprised the NYC crowd with a guest appearance last night where they performed their ASTROWORLD record “SICKO MODE.” Scott would follow that up soon after with his hit-song “Goosebumps.”
Later in the show, the 6 God was joined by social media star The Shiggy Show, hitting the stage to show off his dance moves during “In My Feelings.” Shiggy, of course, played a part in the song currently spending seven weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his #InMyFeelings challenge on social media.

Joe Budden has evolved from artist to now one of the leading personalities in music media. The industry veteran recently announced that his highly successful show, The Joe Budden Podcast, has signed a exclusive deal with Spotify. The New Jersey native appeared on The Breakfast Club this week to discuss the transition and newfound success he’s experiencing and more. In the 37-minute conversation, Budden touches on the new Spotify deal, also his upcoming new show State of The Culture with Revolt TV, why he left Complex and Everyday Struggle, his relationship with Eminem now after harshly critiquing Slim Shady’s Revival album, and more.
Shortly after the interview was made available online, it was announced that Remy Ma and industry personality Scottie Beam will serve as co-hosts on Joe Budden’s State of The Culture, which premieres on Sept. 10. Watch the full interview below.
