rihanna-bates-2

Rihanna is set to appear in the upcoming fifth and final season of the A&E drama, Bates Motel. The pop superstar plays the role of Marion Crane, the character first made famous by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller Psycho. The new altered version of Marion makes her first appearance arriving on the doorstep of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore).

Norman is in an incredibly intense and interesting place that we’ve built him to when that sequence of episodes starts,” executive producer Kerry Ehrin tells EW, noting the new season picks up about 18 months after Norma’s (Vera Farmiga) death. “It’s this collision of Bates Motel storytelling and then Marion Crane (Rihanna) showing up into that. He’s in a very fragile and lonely place, and Marion Crane is a charismatic woman, she’s super present when she’s with him and she’s very attractive — all those things are exactly what he needs right at this moment.”

Rihanna’s character will appear in multiple episodes of Bates Motel, when the new season premires on Monday, Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on A&E. Check out an exclusive promo clip and first look photos of RiRi as Marion Crane courtesy of EW below.
