Last night, Drake celebrated the release of his latest album Views (but, unfortunately, not a Raptors win) with a free halftime performance at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Square, aka Jurassic Park, a popular spot for the city’s basketball fans outside the Air Canada Centre. Although Drizzy couldn’t be at the game, which was being played in Indiana, to cheer on his team (and clap furiously at Rodney Stuckey’s head), he did surprise the gathering Raptors fans with a quick performance of his IYRTITL hit, “Energy.”
“I love everybody in this city. I love this city. I’ll die for this city. This the greatest place in the world with the greatest people in the world,” he addressed the crowd, who responded in kind by chanting “Drake, Drake, Drake.” Now, let’s see if the stars align for Drake and the Raptors in a crucial game seven in Toronto on Sunday night.

Young Thug shows support to the victims of the recent floods in Houston by releasing this new song and video, aptly titled “Texas Love.” The Ricky Racks-produced track isn’t about the floods itself (however, Thug does show love to the Lone Star State by rapping “If Texas, Texas, Texas was a drug” on the hook), but the accompanying visuals do include shocking news footage of the latest natural disaster to hit the South. H-Town’s own Trae Tha Truth also makes a cameo in the video.
“Our hearts goes out to all of the loved ones that were lost and troubled during this terrible tragedy,” says Thugga of the video, which he co-directed with Be EL Be. Earlier this month, flash floods in the Houston area claimed seven lives, flooded a thousand homes and caused more than $5 billion in damage.

“i’m starting a new series where i make beats and people rap on them. then i put it on the internet. it’s called !Go Fish!” tweeted Mac Miller earlier this month. The Pittsburgh native, who goes by the name Larry Fisherman when he’s strictly making beats, teamed up with NYC rapper Conway on the first drop a few weeks ago. Today, for the second “!Go Fish!” track, Mac taps Coney Island’s finest, Your Old Droog, to kick a laid back flow over his piano-sprinkling production. The two nicest white boys in the game right here.

It’s been almost a full 24 since Drake’s long-awaited Views LP was released on iTunes, which is more than enough time for you to unequivocally decide whether the album is either “classic” or “trash” (just kidding). Early on, it’s clear Views is Aubrey Graham’s love letter to Toronto, a multi-seasonal, Take Care-sounding journey of hip-hop supremacy and romantic redemption. There are Rihanna and Future appearances, DMX and Mary J. Blige samples, and just enough corny lines thrown in for good measure (“got so many chains they call me Chaining Tatum”).
So, while we continue to let Views properly sink in before his next “arsenal of songs” inevitably take over the summer of ’16, here’s what the Internet has been saying about Drake’s new album so far.

The big question surrounding Drake’s brand new album Views — aside from whether it’s a “classic,” of course — is: what the hell happened to Popcaan’s appearance on “Controlla“? Drizzy included Popcaan in his cast of collaborators during a meme-friendly spree on Instagram last night, but by the time Views hit iTunes, he was nowhere to be heard.
Anyway, thanks to this new single, Popcaan makes sure we don’t go without some authentic dancehall vibes this fine Friday. Produced by Notnice Records, “Ova Dweet” is a confidence-boosting anthem about how “woman haffi love me stye,” but also about not doing too much all the time (“Ahhh, mi nuh haffi boast and brag”). He may not have made it into Drake’s album for whatever reason, but Popcaan’s still going straight into the summer playlist with this one
