Last week, Pro Era’s Joey Bada$$ released the Statik Selektah-produced single “Ready.” On the record, Joey takes a slight jab at Troy Ave, as the pair had a mini back-and-forth last year over the topic of who’s a real independent artist and record sales.

But f**k it what I’m about to say is what they didn’t want me, 60k first week for the Badass/ 200k to this day I know you ni**as mad, raps Joey on the song’s second verse. “With the 80/20 split my nigga do the math/ My ni**a Kirk just outsold Troy Ave,” he continued.

Troy Ave now decides to respond, with a catchy diss track called “Bad Ass.” Listen below.

With a new single out, Joey Badass and Pro Era stopped by HOT 97’s Real Late With Peter Rosenberg recently. Along with Nyck Caution and Kirk Knight, the Brooklyn-based crew discussed their latest projects and at the 18:20 mark, decided to have a freestyle session. French Montana’s Wave Gods mixtape has received plenty of good feedback since its release earlier this month. After partying with A$AP Rocky and Scott Disick in the remix video for “Off the Rip,” Montana keeps it L.A. in “Jackson 5.” Draped in Versace robes with running mate Belly, the two enjoy the Hollywood Hills, sitting back at their private residence with a handful of naked women.

There is a new member of the OVO Sound family. R&B act dvsn is the latest addition to Drake’s music imprint. The mysterious singer from Toronto first made waves back in October of last year, during and episode of OVO Sound Radio on Beats 1. During that mixshow, producer Nineteen85 (“Hotline Bling,” “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” “Truffle Butter”) debuted the neo-soul balled “The Line.” Soon after songs such as “Hallucinations,” “With Me” and “Too Deep” released on the singer’s SoundCloud page.

On Monday (Feb. 29), October’s Very Own co-founder Noah “40” Shebib made the quiet announcement on Instagram of the new signing. “@dvsndvsn @ovosound,” said the Grammy Award-winning producer, posting an image of dvsn’s logo in OVO’s trademark black-and-gold colors. The label also posted the same image on their official Twitter account moments after.

If you’re riding with Lil Durk and are one of his closest homies, you probably got a shoutout in his new record “With Me.” The Chicago artist slows it down a bit sonically, but still keeps things aggressive throughout the track, recognizing everyone who support the movement. He even takes a slight shot at Def Jam, saying he’s not signed to them, but rather OTF.

asap rocky tyler the creator

A$AP Rocky and Tyler, The Creator spent the better part of a month on the road together last year, so it’s fair to say they got to know each other pretty well. In Rocky’s case, well enough to do a hilariously on-point impression of Tyler, which he debuted to the world during a recent interview with Tyler DJ Stankdady on GOLF Radio. His impression got the approval of the man himself, at least: “I can’t get mad ’cause that part is so accurate.”

DJ Khaled is suffering from a near-fatal case of success these days and there’s no road to remission in sight. Not long after scoring his own slot on Beats 1 Radio, the We The Best boss is now being managed by none other than Jay Z. Khaled made the major announcement in a typically theatrical video, in which Hov crowns him with the last original Roc-A-Fella chain in his collection. To further whet our appetites, the clip also features roughly eight seconds of new Jay Z raps.

It’s unclear whether Jay is individually managing Khaled or he’s just signed to Roc Nation management (he has a habit of overstating things). Also interesting is the tech company rivalry sub-plot to this new partnership (Khaled recently aligned with Apple Music while Hov is the part owner of TIDAL). In any case, chalk this up as Another One™ in Khaled’s win column.
