wu-tang clan a better tomorrow

It’s been a bumpy road for the Wu-Tang Clan (particularly Raekwon and RZA) this year, but like their new album title suggests, better days are ahead. The legendary rap group are currently gearing up to release their first LP in seven years, but it appears Warner Music Germany has let the files loose online ahead of schedule. Singer Nathaniel is the only outside guest on the 15-track project, but we all know you came here for new rhymes from Mef, Rae, Ghost and the rest of the gang.

Stream A Better Tomorrow in full below and be sure to pre-order the album on iTunes before it drops on December 2. Oh, and eyes peeled for that other new Wu album, which the eventual multi million-dollar owner will hopefully leak online for all us peasants to enjoy.

De La Soul, Vincent Mason, Kelvin Mercer, David Jude Jolicoeur

After touring the country together alongside LL Cool J and Ice Cube last summer, the legendary De La Soul and Chuck D connect for this powerful new single, “The People.” Over funky, horn-laced production, the OGs comment on today’s social ills while urging the masses to unite — something hard to ignore when it’s coming out of Chuck D’s mouth. Although the track was originally set to be released back in June, the song certainly feels relevant given the recent events surrounding the tragedy in Ferguson.

“Originally ‘The People’ was supposed to drop in June, around the same time the Chuck D/Hot 97/Rosenberg situation took place. We chose to hold off and not add fuel to any fires,” Trugoy says. “Our next aim was for a Black Friday release. Coincidentally, the Ferguson tragedy took place and now the non-indictment verdict. Somehow this song was destined to be a part of something more than just dropping a joint. We hope it will lend itself to something positive in these difficult times.”

While we await the arrival of De La’s new album in 2015, be sure to revisit their recently released Smell the Da.I.S.Y. mixtape featuring unreleased J Dilla beats.

pusha-t

Pusha T recently caught up with Revolt and revealed some intricate details about his newly released single, “Lunch Money.” After proclaiming that his sophomore album will be the project of the year, Pyrex said that his Kanye produced track was actually released prematurely.

“It was an accident,” he said bluntly of the release, before continuing, “In dealing with iTunes and Google Play and things like that, you have to queue it up early. So we queued up a version early, for the space, and ‘Ye decided to take it out of the queue, because he wanted to do other things that you hear in the beat now… and you know, he be gone, I be gone, things get lost in translation and it didn’t get taken out of the queue for Google Play. So that’s how people had the wrong version first. And when people had the wrong version, and I found that out, I was like it has to go, we gotta just put it out.”

The 27-year-old has worked with Hit-Boy, Rodney Jerkins, Happy Perez, Charlie Gambetta, and Kevin Ristro.
