Gunplay fears little and cares even less about what people think about him. This time he linked up with Memphis trap boy, Yo Gotti, to discuss dealers. The drug kind. There’s no telling if this will be included on his Def Jam debut, but it should hold thirsty fans over for at least the weekend. (spotted at Eskay’s)

Interviews[4] Comments

Well, we all knew who Pusha was talking about even without hearing the actual song. Earlier this week a snippet of Ludacris “Tell Me Why They So Mad For” leaked to the internet, and featured a scathing verse from P. While we didn’t get to actually hear the actual rhymes, Splash provided us with a transcription. He was clearly taking shots at Wayne, with lines like: “N*ggas saying you was better when the drugs was in your system/Now your crack swag gone ever since u came from prison/Got you tweeting all stupid, is you skatin’, is you dissin.”
Last night, I got a chance to speak with Pusha at VIBE’s V-Mix concert about the track and he confirmed he was definitely talking about Weezy and Birdman.
“It’s new and was for Luda’s album,” Pusha tells VIBE. He also explained his motivation for the record. “Oh, because it’s a Swizz beat. You got to blame Swizz. See, when Wayne got a Swizz beat… with the “Ghoulish” track; he got busy, well, he tried to.”

Jamie Foxx laced Rick Ross with some heat for his contribution to the Django soundtrack. Rozay put some serious thought into “100 Black Coffins.” He goes beyond his usual subject matter and drug-thug tales. The Quentin Tarantino film’s OST will hit retailers on Dec. 18. Read the VIBE cover story with Leonardo Dicaprio, Kerry Washington, and Jamiee Foxx here.

Here’s another piece from Chrisette Michele’s Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation, which will be released online on December 8. She calls on her pals Dunson and Bilal to help create a jazzy track for this nostalgic video. In the black and white visuals, classic images of Audrey are intertwined with clips of Chrisette reenacting the classic shots.
A fun lil Audiovisual Presentation Konee Rok and I drummed up. The concept is “Prisoner of a Still Picture” Dunson and I are stuck in the iconic photography of Audrey and the great Sir Davis. We pose in these lyrics, the question, “Can The Cool Be Loved?” From our Art to Yours… Enjoy.

Hmmm?[2] Comments

This week Forbes ranked their annual Highest-Paid Musician list for 2012, and the results may surprise you. Superstars from all genres ranked in the top 25, which also included a few rappers and singers. Rihanna came in at #13 with 55 million, Diddy at #15 with 45 million, Beyonce at #18 with 40 million, Jay-Z at #20 with 38 million, and Kanye at #22 with 35 million. However, the top spot went out to Mr. Beats By Dre himself. Were you surprised?
1. Dr. Dre ($110 million)
His long-awaited album, Detox, is still on the shelf, but Dre still rakes in cash from old albums, production and the occasional concert. And then there’s that headphone line. The superproducer collected $100 million pretax when handset maker HTC paid $300 million for a 51% stake in the company last year, at the beginning of our scoring period (earlier this year, he and his partners bought back half of what they sold).
2. Roger Waters ($88 million)
A founding member of Pink Floyd, Waters continues to rake in cash from his The Wall Live tour, in which he plays the aforementioned album straight through. According to Billboard Boxscore, he grossed $131 million from November 2011 to May 2012 alone.
