Following their love affair playing The Kennedys in the video for “National Anthem,” a record featuring A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey titled “Ridin” leaked onto the internet. The collaboration, set to appear on Rocky’s LongLiveA$AP debut album, was an unfinished reference song that wasn’t scheduled to be released until later this summer. Frustrated, Pretty Flacko hit Twitter to voice his thoughts on the reference song hitting online.

“THAT RIDIN SONG WITH ME N LANA IZ NOT OFFICAL, ITS NOT MY REAL LYRICS , THAT WAZ A REFERENCE , THE KICK DRUMS CAN SUCK MY DICK!!!! MY BARZ ARE WACK AF ON THAT SONG BRUH, THAT WAZ A FREESTYLE REFERENCE AND THEY KNOW DAT, FUCK THE KICK DRUMS!!! I CARE ABOUT MY CRAFT TOO MUCH TO GIVE THE PPL GARBAGE LIKE THAT, SMH.”

Meanwhile, The Kickdrums who produced the song also took to Twitter and reacted. Read their thoughts below….

In case you didn’t know, Waka Flocka is a recovering pyro maniac. Before rap music, the Brick Squad gang was busy shooting Roman Candles at each other, while trying to avoid setting themselves on fire (which is actually a lot of fun). It’s the truth, yo. Watch Flockavelli explain how to do this properly on his hilarious Fireworks Safety segment that ran on Jimmy Kimmel last night.

BTW, fireworks will never get old for men. I’ve loved messing with these things since I was like 10, and I still love chucking Black Cats out my 3rd story window when drunkards from the bar across the street get out of hand. I live in the Financial District so you can imagine the kind of commotion it creates. Mwahaha!

Even Miss Info was hand-over-mouth Asian giggling in Seattle somewhere…

There are the new artists that bubble up and within weeks, they’re going from youtube single to seven-figure signings…with every label meeting speculated about by us, the twitter peanut gallery. But quietly, without fanfare, Dominic Lord, an 18-year old from Harlem has been having those same meetings, and fielding those same pitches without a single song available to the public. Until now.

Dominic was an early member of the ASAP family (who have have a major star in ASAP Rocky, with affiliates like Ferg, Bari, Nast and others making their own names too). But Dom’s role was as a designer: he allegedly designed those iconic VSVP pieces for Blackscale. Now, as a songwriter and producer, Dominic is independent from the ASAPs…but he’s still got some hefty help on his side. Dom has partnered with manager Steven Victor (Pusha T), lawyered up with Theo Sedlmayr (50 Cent, Chief Keef), and has been in the studio with Hudson Mohawke, Benny Blanco (Katy Perry), Stargate (Beyonce, Wiz Khalifa), and more. All this has attracted the attention of Geffen, Warner Bros, Def Jam and more. I’ve heard some early songs back in April that I really liked (i.e., a song called “Message Failure”), but none of it was what I expected after meeting the intense but still gangly growing teenager. There are shades of Kid Cudi’s sing-song raps, electronic dance hooks, and even bits that remind me of British 90’s pop. Does Dominic listen to Erasure and the Pet Shop Boys?!

Check out the very first release from Dominic Lord, “Pierce” (Produced by Hudson Mohawke)…
And let me know what you think!

Whitney Houston will never be forgotten, and her legacy continues in the video for “Celebrate” off the Sparkle soundtrack. The final recording before Whitney’s untimely death features Jordin Sparks, who also co-stars in the 1976 Motown-era film remake that hits theaters on August 10. For the celebratory single, Sparks throws a house party with fellow co-stars Mike Epps, Derek Luke, Goapele, Tika Sumpter, Carmen Ejogo, and Omari Hardwick. While Sparks never got to record with the late pop icon, she calls the experience to work with such an artist “amazing.”

“I would have loved to be in the studio with her, but with Whitney’s schedule it got so crazy [we never] found the time to get together, so we recorded it separately. But it was amazing to be able to go in after she had already finished her part… It was so cool because you could just hear the smile in Whitney’s voice when she was singing it.”
