**well, maybe Tiny more than Toya but still….
anyone on twitter knows how I feel about T.I.’s ride or die chick, Tameka Cottle. In fact, I’d like to sample her signature “Yeeah, Beh-bay” and use it as my ringtone. But seriously…the first episode drama with Toya’s confrontation with her drug-addicted mother on the streets of New Orleans, and Tiny’s sad struggle with her father’s Alzheimer’s afflication…it’s compelling television. Set DVR to series record.

Things I like: DJ Teddy King and Mondee’s The Ghostface Show mixtape!
Posted by Miss Info under About Miss Info , Crony-ism , Good For Hip Hop , Good For Me , Old Music , Things I Love[6] Comments
A while back, the homie Teddy King sent over his really good Nas rarities mixtape, “Surviving the Times,” and I’m still playing it on the reg (c) kenny powers. Now he and partner Mondee have dropped the download for The Ghostface Show. Along with some of my favorite GFK tracks, like “Wildflower,” I love the artwork by Jimmy Papers, the design director of King Stampede streetwear. Cop King Stampede and more wears at BoundlessNY.

Prodigy gets the last laugh…yeah, he rocked an MJ jacket. What?

(XXLMag posted this image from Jay-Z’s infamous Hot97 Summerjam screen attack on Mobb Deep’s Prodigy back in 2001)
Kudos to XXLmag for thinking outside the box by reaching out to Prodigy in jail for his reaction to Michael Jackson’s passing. Seems that P felt much vindication upon watching this Sunday’s BET awards….
“[Jamie Foxx] said everybody used to dress like Michael Jackson when they was a little kid…You know I like that part ’cause certain niggas ‘Oh yeah Prodigy had the beaded jacket on when he was 8 years old,’ like tryna discredit me like there’s something wrong with that. Nah ain’t nothing wrong with that and everybody knows and it’s sad that Michael Jackson had to die but now everybody’s professing ‘oh I loved Michael Jackson when I was little too.’ Oh now it’s okay.”
“Rest in peace, Michael Jackson…He did a lotta things I ain’t agree with later on in life but overall that was a good muthafucka right there. That was an excellent person, with his music and what he contributed to the music world. Perfect, excellent.”

Thanks for the Memories: Vibe Magazine folds

yours truly on my 225cc putt-putt on the Vibe contributors page back in the day : (
The reason for the closing: CEO Steve Aarons says: “the company tried in vain to either find new investors or “to restructure the huge debt on our small company.”
New York Times reports: “Vibe’s closure leaves just one large-circulation magazine, The Source, focusing on hip-hop and R&B. The Source has had its own troubles, going through a bankruptcy and emerging under new ownership last year. A rock-focused magazine, Blender, folded last year.”
Umm…has NYT ever heard of a magazine called XXL?
RapRadar: Vibe’s final cover, The Dream and Christina Millian (naked)
There will be a staff meeting at 2pm. They were reportedly unaware of the decision until this morning.
UPDATE: Editor-in-chief (and my former EIC) Danyel Smith says…
On behalf the VIBE CONTENT staff (the best in this business), it is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today. We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It’s a tragic week in overall, but as the doors of VIBE Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine’s sixteenth anniversary, it’s a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and who continue to love the VIBE brand. We thank you, we have served you with joy, pride and excellence, and we will miss you.

UPDATE 2: Quincy Jones weighs in and announces plans to buy back Vibe?….“They just messed my magazine all up, but I’m gonna get it back. You better believe it, I’m’a take it online because print and all that stuff is over.”

Mariah mocks Eminem in “Obsessed” video?

(photos spotted on NecoleBitchie)
Mariah Carey shot the video for her veiled Eminem diss song “Obsessed” yesterday at the Plaza Hotel with director Brett Ratner and guest rapper Gucci Mane. Of course, everyone seeing these photos of MC are naturally assuming that she’s spoofing Em as a obsessed fan in his signature oversized sweats. Seeing as how Em has skewered many a celeb himself on video, turnaround is fair game, no?

Bun B x DJ Semtex at Glastonbury

BUN B LIVE @ GLASTONBURY | TALKS ON DRAKE, MICHAEL JACKSON, AND THE UK from DJ SEMTEX on Vimeo.
Nice! Y’all already know how I feel bout Bun B : ) Here’s what Semtex said about this clip!
“When ever i’ve been to Houston, Bun B has looked out for me. On my first trip, he took the time out to show me around the city, and he’s done the same for Dizzee Rascal on numerous occasions. Dizzee was actually fortunate enough to record 2 tracks with UGK [R.I.P. Pimp C].
So for Bun’s very first visit to the UK it’s only right that he joined us on the main stage at Glastonbury, in front of a crowd 80,000 deep.
Bun is ‘that’ guy, one of the Great ones. It was a honour to share the stage with him at one of the world’s biggest festivals.”
Bun talks on:
*Working with Dizzee Rascal
*Michael Jackson
*Drake and his role on ‘So Far Gone’.
*Hitting the streets of the UK.
