Uh oh: Ludacris and Obama…..a miscommunication
Posted by Miss Info under Life Beyond Rap , New Music , Quotes[31] Comments
Ludacris went hard for his favorite presidential candidate… maybe a bit too hard. I mean, we all know what he means but its a generational gap thing, they’re taking every line a bit too literal. Can’t blame them when you’ve got folks who will try to somehow use Luda’s lyrics against Obama.
Ludacris “Politics”
[audio:ludacris-politics.mp3]from Politico.com:
“Barack Obama’s campaign is condemning a song by the rapper Ludacris that praises Obama and bitterly attacks Senators Hillary Clinton and John McCain.
“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” said spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”
“Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant,” say the lyrics. “McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped.”
The song also celebrates Obama’s rise.
“The first black president is destined and it’s meant to be,” go the lyrics, calling on voters to “paint the White House black.
The song notes that Obama has praised Ludacris, and calls on him to “give Luda a special pardon if I’m ever in the slammer.”
“The world is ready for change because Obama is here!” it concludes.

Just Great more talking points for FOX news!
I think its great that our Hip-Hop artists are getting so politically involved. But if they want to support Obama and really get to see him in office, they should open their wallets and shut their mouths.
Alot of Rap artists need to start writing their lyrics down and proof-reading it. cause they are not thinking about what is coming out of their mouth anymore. Maybe Joe Buddens is right after-all.
If you want to hear or download Ludacris’s New Track, Its available on Dijibeat.net

Luda, you dumb fuck…
July 30th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Luda was talking a bit wreckless but like Miss Info said people are taking the lyrics too seriously. The main points hes making most people agree with them, like Hilary isnt getting VP and McCain is so old.
Obama 08
“you the worse of all 43 presidents” lol
July 30th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Men wat are u guys talkin bout..rap is art..art is expression..he has every right to express watever da f**k he wants..and hes down wit Obama..and doesnt like Clinton and the rest!….(and yea hilary endorsed him..because she had to!) If it was the reverse Obama wouldnt even get an invite to anything she was doin!!!
July 30th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
luda should be able to say whatever he wants however he wants to say it. It’s not his job to concern himself about how the Obama campaign, or anyone else for that matter, takes it. let them worry about that, it’s their jobs. his only obligation is to express himself artistically. everything else is extra bullsh*t.
Btw. some of you need to stop drinking the kool-aid
July 30th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
lol Luda needs to stay in his lane.
lol @ Obama denouncing that mess too.
July 30th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
haha, i wonder if a PR-managers head will roll over this.
sure was a risky move for obama to affiliate with somebody like luda. should have chosen someone more cool-headed.
July 30th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
**waits for Pepsi to pick up Luda again…just to drop him**
July 30th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Yeah uhhhhhhhhh………..no.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
The conservatives are only going to try to use this against him. “oh yeah he affiliates himself with rogue rappers!” This will play right into their hands, Bill O’Rielly will probably talk about it tonite. The point is if we support Obama we have to support him in positive “mainstream” ways. We already know what Luda says is right but “others” just don’t understand. Everything Obama does they hate on him for it. It’s like he damn if he do and he damn if he dont.
July 30th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
TODAY BILL OREILLY TALKED ABOUT THIS THE FACTOR!!…..told u so…he probably try to get Luda to lose sponsors again. And best believe they kept showing the picture of Obama and Luda together to try to make Obama look as bad as he can..damn shame
July 30th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
The Obama campaign had no choice but to “denounce” the song because if they were to let the story sit and fester, Fox and other mainstream media outlets would have jumped on this story and it would become bigger than it already is. I bet you Luda isn’t even sweating this at all.
But I think rappers should be aware that if you make any song about/endorsing/criticizing Barack Obama, it has the potential to be used in whatever way one sees fit. That’s the risk that any artist takes with something political. Luda called Hillary a bitch on record, he can’t take that back. And while he has the right to say whatever the hell he wants, he now knows, along with others, that what you say in relation to Obama can be used against you and/or the candidate. That’s how it works.

I love how quickly the Obama campaign denounced Luda. Geez, Obama throws another one of his idols under the bus. One thing Obama and his robotic followers can’t deny is that just a couple of months ago in Rolling Stone magazine Obama said Luda was one of his favorite rap artist and that he was a great talent and businessman. Ha. I am laughing so hard I can’t stand it. Bye Bye Obama.

Luda did just as expected and so did Obama. Why is everybody pointing fingers in their comments at Luda? So his song was a little obscene.. did we forget what the fuck Hip Hop is? Being politically correct doesn’t sell records. Being controversial does.

Washington Politics…
I think its a lane that not many of us really understand. Do you really REALLY know what goes on behing the doors of the white house, or conversations and dealings right before a congressional hearing?
Nope, you dont. You have never been privy to that information. We can only speculate as to what EXACTLY goes on, based what we see on TV, or learned in class.
Luda got the buzz he may have hoped for, and freedom of speech is a beautiful thing — but not when its reckless.

It’s rap music. It’s ashame that ppl who don’t even listen to rap music are analyzing it.
Just like the story Miss Info had before this….”never underestimate the power of words.”

this what happens when dum sigers try and be smart they make obama an easy target for rivals
July 31st, 2008 at 9:27 am
Ludacris endorsing Obama is not the problem. It’s the fact that he had a couple of unfavorable lines for both McCain and Clinton that was done in bad taste.
I wonder if shit like this really rattles white people.

July 31st, 2008 at 3:06 pm
I have been sayin this ever since Obama received the Democratic nomination…black people….SIT YO ASS DOWN! Serious man, I’m a 26 year old black man so relax, fools are makin us look bad lately…the LAST thing we want to do now is make those Obama supporters go, “Oh damn, is this how black people are gonna act if Obama gets in the office? Oh ok let me vote for Mccain then, I might be a democrat but I don’t feel unsafe”
July 31st, 2008 at 3:08 pm
….so just RELAX until November…trust me, Ludacris is not saying anything that I don’t agree with, but man, us as black folks are so damn boastful haha I’m guilty of it too but I don’t have the platform that Luda does. Get on your best behavior for the next 3 months PLEASE! 3 months! It’s not that long, then you can act an ass, but wait til it’s official.

He got a right to say whatever he wants cuz as some said, rap is a form of expression, freedom of speech and what not. But i think this might turn out more negatively than Luda had intended. Presidential campaigns are nasty and they gon use every bit of dirt they can find. I don’t really see this helping the overall campaign but you know, he can do whatever he likes. Btw, love that beat lol.
August 1st, 2008 at 7:40 am
wtf is wrong with luda?
he must of knew they would have to denounce it?
stupid ass
August 3rd, 2008 at 12:38 pm
You’re right in that Luda can express himself anyway he wants. But he can’t be in photo ops with Obama and then make a song, because then he makes Obama have to denounce him. Obama wouldn’t have responded had it not been for this, but simply said he didn’t listen to Luda, etc. This draws away from Obama’s message and allows white America to say this is how Obama thinks also. He may not say it but look at who he associates with, Reverend Wright and Luda, who openly show theire hate for America. And I know it’s not true but it gives them ammunition.
He totally dropped the ball on this one. He could’ve switched it up and had double meanings and left you guessing, but still understanding his meaning. And I guarantee the backlash will be felt, since he just signed a deal with AT&T or Verizon not sure which one. And Corporate America will answer to stockholders about their choice in pitchman, watch. You can think it but can’t say it like that and can’t hide behind being a rapper when it happens. Corporate America doesn’t know where your being an “artist” or being an asshole and will let you know. He should know since he was fired from Pepsi before. LOL!
September 25th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
You’ve got to think though, he has just gained a ton of support from young people black and white. Its not going to sway any undecideds, all it will do is draw in some more attention with the younger crowd
