Posted by Mr.North under Things I Ehh[23] Comments
Katy Perry is a big fan of Kanye West and Jay-Z, earlier today she displayed that on BBC Radio 1 live lounge in London, England. During her appearance viewers got to hear the pop star cover The Throne’s hit single, “N***as In Paris.”
Watch the acoustic cover after the jump….

I’M DONE with pop creepin’ all over hip hop WTF people – leave our shit alone…
I remember seeing this type of ish in high school and us laughing at it – now I’m seeing it play out on stage and get lauded.
Lauryn said it best back in the Miseducation: “Hip hop, started out in the heart, eh-yo, Now everybody tryin’ to chart…”
Hip hop started out in the heart, in the streets, and was the pain, fury and injustice of the disenfranchised aired out through poetry and beats – now played out by peeps who never even tasted that toxic experience first-hand, now this ish is straight up sterile packaged up boulsheet.
Ish is too too sad man.

I’ll never understand this state of mind. motherfuckers LOVE hip hop. regardless of race color creed. yet some people see this as a bad thing. to me it’s kinda fly that a pop singer is paying homage to niggas in paris
this is stupid, acting like only certain people can like hip hop culture. stop taking yourself so serious, shit’s bad for your health

That was hot!!!

Yeah I don’t get it, I enjoy seeing Hip Hop reach levels that were damn near unimaginable only 10, shit even 5 years ago.
March 20th, 2012 at 9:26 am
damn look at that Katy Perry throwing up the same gang sign as lil wayne, some people will never get it
March 20th, 2012 at 9:29 am
@spythe…you should be thanking no one else but JAY-Z for carrying hiphop on his shoulders to these new levels in the past 10-15 years…none of these new nigga would be jacking the genre hiphop if jay z and didame aint start rocafella records….yall will find out when jay z dies who the greatest ever was.
to me it looks like katy perry is trying to imitate jay hova more than yeezy…she better stop that b4 beeyzy get at her
March 20th, 2012 at 9:33 am
next comes the ignorant thought: I didn’t know she was Blood….idiot
March 20th, 2012 at 10:59 am
I knew this back-and-forth would begin sooner or later.
March 20th, 2012 at 11:51 am
wouldn’t be surprised if he was hittin that tho
March 20th, 2012 at 2:45 pm
God that was painful.
March 20th, 2012 at 3:45 pm
Yeah I agree it is still puzzling that people don’t put Jay down as GOAT, he may not be a lyrical genius to some but Hip Hop is a lot bigger than just lyrics. One of the few artist that can literally stand on his own no matter who is backing him or what label he is signed to. With that said, I do think Kanye West deserves a lot of praise as well, he never consider himself just a rapper he always pushed the limits a little bit further with every album. And I think WTT was just 2 friends taking a break and having fun for a little bit.

yaboy and spythe don’t get it.
Do you really think that REAL hip hop fans are mad that hip hop went global?
Do you really think we don’t get chills hearing some Japanese dude (say Zeebra) kill a Premo beat like “The Untouchable?”
We just want it to be global on HIP HOP terms, not on POP terms.
But you suckas are just so happy to have someone from the outside ’embrace’ (but really ‘appropriate’) your culture and then water it down for you.
