New Music: Jay Electronica – ‘The Announcement”
Lyrics:
My view is aerial
Your crew inferior
My crew imperial
Mc Killers
Milk & Serial
Get it?
Forget it.
You’ll still be connecting the dots with smoking holes in your fitted
Those that got it be all at the shows throwing fits
The light from the dynasty sign froze all of the critics and nary a soul got on they frog toes ribbitShhh…
Was the night before the coming
Sugar plum candy coated lines for the dummies
Decoded hieroglyphics in the shrines for the mummies
We ain’t illuminati but out eye is on the moneyMy minds on the scripture
It’s beautiful, i see every line on the picture
So when the leaves Russel and the cock Crowes winter just know that the Black Gods mingled a bit
Then the fingers got pricked
Then the single got picked
Man I’m living out my brain I don’t dream about shit.
If I say dream, I mean Dream, Fresh not Hampton
I got a date with destiny I’m definitely not cancellingRomancing
The Stone
The Roc
The Throne
The Elegant Celebration sent tremors through every nation
The Stars aligned like cars at grand central stationElevation
Yours Truly,
My duty in obligation: The newly appointed ruler who moved with no observation like W.D.
Say my name on a record, W.W.III
I’ll put you niggas in a box like the WB
Here’s a footnote on the Blueprint
Whoms fucking with We?

Bad grammar
Widescreen panorama
Paranormal activity seen in the cameraSo if you want that turmoil
I’ll twitter facebook YouTube worldstar you

“You’ll still be connecting the dots with smoking holes in your fitted
Those that got it be all at the shows throwing fits”

iceberg, instead of jumping to conclusions, why not try and see what I’m talking about?
Trust me, I probably know WAY more about hip hop than you.
My point is that Jay E rhymes with a certain rhythm I can’t follow. It’s like he rhymes offbeat, or won’t complete a bar. The way he structures his rhymes is strange to me.
I notice he hasn’t been rhyming on tracks with strong drums/snares etc.
Look at his Eternal Sunshine record. The whole shit is offbeat. There’s no beat in there to ride, and that seems to be Jay E’s thing.
Too complex for you, iceberg? Or do you now see what I’m getting at?

I see where you’re coming from.
But that’s done intentionally, so you can’t see where the lines connect and you would listen more intently. His style (cadence and rhyme pattern)is based deep in freestyle. How they change up as not to seemingly photograph the rhyming word…a phantom punch(line),if you will.

@Truf.com…I see your side Point, but real talk, I will go on record right now, YOU DON’T KNOW WAY MORE ABOUT HIP HOP THEN ME. Sorry had to get that out the way…as to your comments response, my apologies ….i guess if you have to put it like that, I could you have a argument, But NOT A VALID ONE…sorry.
Homie, the reason why today the industry is stagnant is bc we have everybody doing the same thing. Sounding the same, and even rapping over the same beats…etc…so much problems to point out, this could go on for evere… I was born in 1982, I was blessed, I heard every style that was out at the time, most notably …Onynx, DZFs, Slik Rick etc….and We can even throw the RZA & MASTA KILLA… all at times appeared as if they flowed off beat…but that was their style….
Just like in every 16 Game names everybody in the industry, Jay Elec does his thing, and he always sound fresh regardless of his stylo, his delivery is the hottest shit out since Microwave Pop corn

iceberg, don’t ever assume that someone who makes a comment doesn’t know hip hop, or was dropped on the head. shit’s disrespectful. Read the comment first and see if it has merit before attacking.
One of the reasons why the game is so wack is because there’s no room for criticism. The moment someone makes a comment, they get branded a ‘hater’. Granted, there are dumb ass haters who don’t know shit. But then there are cats like me who actually live and die for this hip hop shit, and actually know what the f*ck we’re talking about.
I’m allowed to not feel Jay E. I think the dude is a glorified Masta Killa with Nas-like subject matter, except nowhere near as deep.
The problem with the game is that we don’t constructively criticize our artists. Therefore they stick in their own lane and don’t ever feel the need to step their game up. And we OVERRATE the f*ck out of them, only for them to drop off the map a couple years later.
Remember when cats wanted EVERYONE to think they were ill? And worked hard to make sure there were no chinks in their armor?
Now it’s like: “Oh, you don’t like Wiz Khalifa? You must be a hater. or you don’t get him.”
without realizing that Wiz exists really because of Redman. I don’t mind hearing blunted rappers, but I need blunted rappers to actually RAP. Not just sell their image as ‘cool cats who are blunted 24/7’
