VMA Epic Battle: Taylor Swift “Still an Innocent” vs Kanye West “Runaway”
Posted by Miss Info under Concerts , Good For Hip Hop , New Music , Not Good For Hip Hop , Videos[112] Comments
Wow…The VMAs were odd in parts and mindnumbingly dull in others….
but what elevated the whole night was the epic battle between Taylor Swift and Kanye West. Just when I felt like Taylor was making a chess move with her VMA tearjerker hallmark performance of her ode to Kanye “Still Innocent” (see after the jump)…then Kanye closed out the show, with pure, unapologetic, fire (with help from the homie Pusha T): “lets have a toast for the assholes, have a toast for the jerkoffs, lets a toast for the scumbags…baby, I got a plan, run away as fast as u can”
New Music: Kanye West feat. Pusha T “Runaway” (VMA TV rip) (thank you yardie, as always) (UPDATE: now louder audio, thank u JohnBoog)
UPDATE2: Producer Scoop Deville hinted that a full Clipse album may be coming through G.O.O.D. Music.
checkmate.
(UPDATE1: with MTV’s player)
Watch Aziz Ansari’s introduction for Kanye’s performance, Taylor Swift’s song about Kanye, download “Runaway” and the preview to Kanye’s upcoming movie
after the jump…..
DOWNLOAD: Kanye West feat. Pusha T “Runaway” (VMA TV Rip)
Taylor’s song for Kanye:
“it’s alright, just wait and see, your string of light is still bright to me, you’re still an innocent…32 and still growing up…”
Watching this a 3rd time….its actually a catchy country-pop song that could be the title track for the soundtrack of a movie starring Amanda Seyfried, based on a book by Nicolas Sparks

Eff Taylor Swift. “We don’t wanna hear that weak shit no mooooore”
September 12th, 2010 at 10:49 pm
for the win…mr. west
10 pt deducted from swift for her jacked up live vocals and animal killing big feet
September 12th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
He pretty much pulled a Rabbit from 8-Mile by jumping on stage and calling himself by all the names everybody else has been using for him in that last year this leaves his critics with no ammunition. Whether or not you like that song almost doesn’t matter, what he did on that stage was fucking genius.
September 12th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
Great song from Ye’. It perfectly captures this society….and now folk will further embrace their blatant attention seeking douchebaggery with this at their anthem.
As for Taylor……Kanye wins again. Let it go.
September 12th, 2010 at 10:50 pm
This puts the Jay-Z/Nas feud to shame.
September 12th, 2010 at 10:53 pm
The audacity of Taylor Swift to perform that song at the VMA’s made me sick. Not only was it classless to slap someone in the face by re-running the footage, after Kanye already apologized, but I am troubled by the message in her song. To me, the message was something like this: even though you are a piece of shit, all humans have value and thus I forgive you. That “paternalistic” song is the most ego-driven (but yet pretending not to be ego-driven) thing I have ever witnessed. Who is this 20 year old girl to judge or comment on Kanye’s life.
Info, what are your thoughts?
September 12th, 2010 at 10:57 pm
Kanye had a fuckin’ MPC on stage. Clap for him.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:01 pm
I refer to something i read on twitter: Taylor used her perf to call Ye an ass. Ye uses his perf to say ‘Sorry I’m an asshole’. Ye won. The end.
^I cant believe she actually tried to bury him though- showing the clip at the start too- and acting all sad on stage.
Kanye Just stole that show and wasnt playing into any of it- which is great because i was getting tired of him saying sorry to her on twitter.- i think hed had enough.
P.S THAT AZIZ ANSARI INTRO WAS DOPE!!!!
September 12th, 2010 at 11:08 pm
Pusha T is the biggest winner of them all,, VMA performance is a great beginning to his solo run!
September 12th, 2010 at 11:09 pm
I’m not Miss Info but my thought on the specific act is that you can’t get mad at her for this. It’s like when someone hits u and u hit them back 2 days later. Yea he apologized but she’s still the “victim” so however she reacts is justified…BUT with that being said, she looked dumb in doing it, Kanye won. I’m just not mad at her for doing what she thought she needed to do.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:13 pm
once again kanye comes and upstage taylor LOL LOL
September 12th, 2010 at 11:14 pm
clap clap bravo . another win for the home team
September 12th, 2010 at 11:16 pm
I honestly don’t know what Taylor was trying to do with her song. You can say she was trying to forgive Kanye but that line about “32 and still growing up” comes off as insulting even if that’s not how she meant it and even if that’s something Kanye has even said about himself. Also her performance pointed out she doesn’t have the strongest voice in the world…maybe she was having an off night.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:17 pm
why is this a kanye vs taylor… everyone who likes hip hop is gonna say kanye everyone who is not or just dislikes kanye will say shawty won.. man thats all i was seeing in my filter on twitter
September 12th, 2010 at 11:19 pm
I thought she was in the lead….until “Runaway” lol
September 12th, 2010 at 11:22 pm
Yeah I agree the Taylor Swift song was a weak attempt to kill Ye off that failed miserably.
Ye took all that goofy hate and made it work against them.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:27 pm
I Dont Like How Taylor Swift Tried To Put Ye Down Again .
Kanye > Taylor
September 12th, 2010 at 11:30 pm
KANYE created everyones work theme song. In the words of ODB, “Ja Ja Genius take us the f**k outta here (yeah I mean u KANYE).”
September 12th, 2010 at 11:35 pm
Please fellas, don’t get hyped and show up to the clubs with cherry red suits on and chest hair exposed this Fall. Easy there.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:36 pm
LOL. that’s not rosewood…or is it?
September 12th, 2010 at 11:36 pm

Rosebud.
September 12th, 2010 at 11:48 pm
Hip hop is nothing more than a bunch of immature FOOLS from the artists to their hype men…fans, radio personalities and bloggers! What did Kanye win?
Kanye started it and Taylor finished it. Taylor’s performance tonight just made Kanye look like a bigger ASS! Taylor proved she is more mature than Kanye! But of course the hip hop community will treat this like a hip hop battle (Taylor vs. Kanye) without recognizing that a grown ass man has still lots of growing up to do. These commits just prove why Kanye “shrugs” off his ignorance because the immature hip hop community co-signs such ill-mannered behavior. No wonder you people represent Waka-Flocka, Gucci and Kanye so hard because they are all alike…ignorance is ignorance it does not matter how it’s packaged or how well one uses words better than the other they all represent the same cause and that is IGNORANCE. Taylor no matter how you try to spin it will WIN!

I didn’t see the actual awards but I heard. About it all over twitter, I understand y. Tay. Did this but it was @ the wrong place n- time, that is what w/ppl. Do make the corniest jokes and remarks @ the wrong time so, I can’t really blame her srrry but it’s true and for ye’ he. Won wondering what does 50 have to say about this?? Hmmmmm…?
September 12th, 2010 at 11:56 pm
Ok, having that little tv playing what happened at last years VMA’s? Really? She’s certainly milking the incident for all it’s worth. Taylor Swift is also a boring performer, it’s not like she has an incredible voice like that red head in the beginning. I actually liked hearing her. She wasnt dancing, but it didn’t matter, she had a beautiful voice. But anyway Taylor seriously needs to move on now
September 13th, 2010 at 12:00 am
Regardless, this song now just accelerated the beef. Whereas before she was just a victim, now she’s an active participant in the fuckery.
On another note, her Kanye song might have been a worse idea than the Lebron “Decision” fiasco.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:25 am
You know this shit is just too much to swollen. Kanye didn’t kill no one or have hate the way it’s been given toward him. He just was honest in what he felt, but should have not taken away that sorry ass girl moment. Now I want to see if the feed back will be as harse to taylor the way it was done to Kanye.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:28 am
Maybe people will now begin to see Taylor for the real sneaky no talented bitch that she is.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:29 am
Kanye is yeah Ignorant and arrogant but like he said “He’s a Grown ass kid” LoL but he’s learning and getting better at it. He apologized already. Her career sky rocketed even more from that VMA incident. so yeah on to the next one.
PS – Kanye Won LMAO!
September 13th, 2010 at 12:30 am
The girl is simply not talented vocal wise. She is what you would call a bubble gum artist. Rihanna is not one of the best but, vocally she do have Taylor beat.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:32 am
Kanye is a beast and I mean that in a good way. The genius is KANYE
September 13th, 2010 at 12:33 am
I’m just shocked you can say asshole and jerk off on mtv
September 13th, 2010 at 12:39 am
genius is miles davis, sun ra, duke ellington, john lennon… and in the case of hip hop.. J DILLA. And when you look at it, J DILLA actually died like a genius, young and unsung, making hits for busta, dangelo, & erykah badu, and you probably dont even know him.
kanye is like the over achiever in a room of special ed students (special ed being pop music), and the dick riders yelling “genius” are his parents at the special Olympics
He used autotune live, and all I could think of was how that WOULD NOT FLY if it was some no name ass fool sounding EXACTLY the same. Think about it, listen to the end again, close your eyes, and think of an average guy in his room sounding EXACTLY the same, and ask yourself, does this SOUND like money?
HELL No.
And if you do, then you just said FUCK MARVIN GAYE, ROGER AND ZAPP, EARTH WIND AND FIRE, AND EVERY BLACK ARTIST BEFORE 1980.
It LOOKS like money though. The people paid to put their hand up in the front row, I mean everyone is lead into basically HAVING to like this because everyone knows what money looks like, and everyone works like dogs everyday to make money, so it’s inherinetly in your intersted to LIKE anything that LOOKS like money.
But when you close your eyes, it sounds like shit, and that’s the fucking point. Music is supposed to lift you from your physical, and go to a much higher place, it’s a feeling.
This is the opposite, this is intended for you to ignore your feelings, and use your eyes (the least reliable sense of the 5 senses) to decipher if you like this.
It’s mass brainwashing.
Genius is being a MASTER of a skill. His beat skills are borderline acceptable. His marketing genius is his team, and more so, how the system as a whole is using this black person to play in a part of a scheme that you have no idea about.
As a matter of fact, since his popularity has made him lots of money (because young people who know shit about music and judge music on image got him rich), artists on the come up, don’t say shit about his lack of skills, because everyone WANTS TO GET PAID.
At a certain point, the money becomes heavier than the art (ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARENT A REAL ARTIST), so don’t let the lack of people saying what I’m saying now, mean people aren’t thinking it. It’s like the CEO boss everyone hates, but he cuts everyones check, that’s not true respect.
J DILLA is a genius, Kanye, he’s cool, he had his moments, he made a couple of dope tracks, no doubt, but DILLA was a genius, which means pretty much EVERY SONG DILLA made was consistently dope, and always did something new with samples no one would ever think of messing with in ways no one EVER did.
Take away the stage, the crowd, all you have left is something like a rehearsal practice, with the out of key autotune (which is an amazing feat in itself).
Just like taylor swift, pop music and the money associated with it is all based on social drama and how each person will react to a years worth of criticism from people who have NO idea what music is for.
Music is supposed to inspire change. All this shit does is inspire people do be gossiping idiots. John lennon inspired change, Bob Marley inspired change, Michael Jackson inspired change, Kanye is no where near these artists. This is because he really doesn’t play or do anything THAT good based on his own merits.
For instance, I know 10 guys that would of destroyed that MPC on stage, instead kanye presses a button. It’s things like this that show me he is not the REAL deal. Real artists are hungry to show you what they can do. His best songs are obvious jacks of samples i.e. Curtis Mayfield (another genius).
Both kanye and taylor are standing on the shoulders of geniuses that 95% of people who call themselves music lovers today probably don’t even know of. This is YOUR badm you’re 17, it doesn’t matter, I was diggin in record crates at 15, it’s even easier online.
Fuck these mainstream sources, all they do now is pull from the underground, so go to the source. Face it, VMAs and all award shows are really an insults to OUR intelligence as people, and shows the dependency people feel like they need to keep up with this shit.
The things you NEED to keep up with in life you’ve slept on for years, and you dont even know you’re paying for it, but if the world goes to shit, you can blame yourself for giving the power to the wrong people.
Be stingy with your props, very few actually deserve it.

Runaway == Can’t Tell Me Nothing 2010
Was the perfect way to close out the show.
The best thing was seeing Pusha T on there – that was a great thing for Kanye to do.
September 13th, 2010 at 12:49 am
why are you surprised? I’ve heard worse.
Nothing is more offensive than Taylor Swift’s horrendous voice. How the hell does she have fans…it’s definitely not bc of her singing ability!
I’m over the kanye/swift incident. Let’s get to the real issue, her voice.
September 13th, 2010 at 1:04 am
Taylor Swift’s song was contrived.Kanye’s track felt more original and truthful
September 13th, 2010 at 1:28 am
I guess she is gonna milk the situation…but Kanye apologised numerous times…his performance was ill…the MPC machine killed it too, he is very talented, I guess these are the repercussions…his album gonna do the talking though…also nice to see Pusha T get some shine….
September 13th, 2010 at 1:39 am
your white so of course you will say she is a victom you white ppl make me laugh always playing the victom when black ppl were slaved for 400 damn years but we got over it and we rock the world. taylor is a lil sissy just like you!
September 13th, 2010 at 1:41 am
SHUT THE FUCK UP HATER!
September 13th, 2010 at 1:44 am
um…this convo is going left.
September 13th, 2010 at 1:45 am
you can be passionate and not be angry, but music inspireing chang, is just your opinion, i agreed with a lot of what you said , but some music you jus wanna shake your body to, or have sex to, im suprised you didnt mention quincy jones or herbie hancock, their both geniuses, and roger and zapp used auto tune too. and its also your opinion that his beats are boderline acceptable i actually like a lot of his instrumentals
September 13th, 2010 at 1:46 am
Kanye needs to thank Pusha T for saving his garbage performance and song. Seriously this is what passes for good hip hop nowadays this was weak as fuck. Kanye used to make great music before he started to believe he really was a genius, now he’s a shell of the artist and rapper he used to be.
I don’t listen to Taylor Swift aside from hearing a song or 2 but at least her song and performance was about something. Not a vein attempt to not seem like your being an asshole which funny enough actually made him come accross as an even bigger asshole.
September 13th, 2010 at 2:42 am
Kanye’s VMA performance of “Runaway” was about his recent breakup with Amber Rose and their relationship not at all about Taylor Swift!
September 13th, 2010 at 3:00 am
i never thought runaway was about taylor. Its clearly about his own self-introspection. but it is also very unapologetic, in the face of and overblown apology…which ye has been guilty of too
September 13th, 2010 at 3:30 am
can i ask how old you are sydney? i just want to know so that when i respond to ur comment i’m not going to be talking to the 14 year old girl you probably are, with no logic whatsoever in your reasoning.
Taylor Swift’s performance was pathetic. Opening with the replay of the kanye incident a year after it happened (get over it), then panning to Taylor sitting in a dark, gloomy setting acting like a victim of some terrible tragedy. please, grow up. that was extremely immature, snide, and self-pitying. fact of the matter is the taylor would not be at such a high level of fame it was not for that incident. And yet she gives an trite and uninspired (not to mention vocally terrible) performance in the most patronizing and holier-than-thou way possible.
Taylor Swift is only able to tackle subjects in the most obvious way. Her pathetic wounded doe act was condescending and self-righteous. Her terrible songwriting was cute at 16 but it’s embarrassing now. Kanye, who is admittedly self-righteous, went a much more creative route and gave a song that was very apologetic but also very tongue-in-cheek. He’s made the disgust he feels at himself quite clear and there was a lot of pain evident during the auto-tune break. I thought the whole thing was very clever, but most importantly, sincere. And it should be over now anyway. Taylor acts like her innocence was stolen.
Also, from a musical perspective, Taylor is terrible. She can’t sing and her bubble gum lyrics lack the maturity and insight that Kanye’s lyrics have.
Plus, don’t even come with that red herring argument, waka-flocka flame and gucci mane have nothing to do with kanye, and in the hip hop community those two artists do not even begin to come close to compare to kanyes level.
And yes. Hip hop is all about ignorance? I’m very sorry for you if you believe that. What is the truth then? is it in your disney channel tv shows and “Love Story” lyrics? i’m sure those portray an accurate representation of real life.
True hip hop is the most purest expression of REAL shit. stuff that you wouldn’t understand one bit. Sure, judge Kanye as you sit at home texting your bffs and making plans for a trip to the mall next sunday. Like you know anything about Kanye’s life before he made it big, about all the shit he and all the other hip hop stars have gone through to make their way to the top. And no, I’m not talking about waka-flocka-flame.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:46 am
Its been a year I’m sick of hearing about this shit. The fact that they are both still talking about it is ridiculous. Get over it.
Kayne new music sucks he is becoming too much of a fruit loop.
September 13th, 2010 at 4:04 am
“you white ppl make me laugh always playing the victom’
Are you serious? Good luck at life.
September 13th, 2010 at 4:14 am
SMH @ you idiots talking about “Yeah Taylor let that shit go already” when a grown-ass man jumped on stage and played himself a year ago.He did that! Bunch of fuckin’ morons.
I just turned 23 and I’m finally starting to see how retarded rap fans are.
“Kanye Won” LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I’m not even a TS or a Country fan but you people are plain dumb.
September 13th, 2010 at 4:26 am
Am I the only one that saw Kanye come out in red suit giving toast to the asshole?……..And when they say stuff about him he complains..Lol
September 13th, 2010 at 5:34 am
Kanye does it again! Dude never misses. Love the new track and love even more how he’s just coming back swingin and not givin a whut! had me L.O.L for real when that hook came in!haha But yeh, Its all about the music people! And Kanye makes some of the best music I’ve ever heard. word. Big ups, Miss Info! Your site is a favorite. Peace and love from Oz
September 13th, 2010 at 6:47 am
Was it really a diss? I think ppl are spinning it. I didn’t like how taylor got all emo and shit. But still Yeezy I dont think was trying to diss her. I thought he just was embracing what he’s been labeled. Almost to the part where its like “I dont care what u call me anymore.” Its as if he is embracing it.
September 13th, 2010 at 6:49 am
P.S. Im glad that arabic comic said something about it being hilarious. Cuz it was. I know paul mooney said he enjoyed every minute of it.

September 13th, 2010 at 7:15 am
It took you til 23 to figure this out lol. Anyway, chill out man. What people are saying is last year Ye was an ass for fucking up TS moment. But everybody did blow it crazy out of proportion. Now, a year later, Kanye’s back on top closing out the show he didn’t make it 30 mins into last year. Plus now people realize how small it was in the scheme of things and feel easier laughing at it and joking on it. So Taylor’s song comes off a little melodramtic. It makes it seem like she was heartbroken or raped by the guy. When really it was just a small blemish on her otherwise perfect year.
Anyway, fuck all that. How dope was it Kanye bringing Pusha out to close the show with him? Wish Malice could’ve been up there with him. I guess timing is everything.
September 13th, 2010 at 7:18 am
Im thinking some of yall got lost and found your way to this site. Welcome .. “rap fans”?? lmao.
If you dont like hip hop ….Wtf are you doing here?
September 13th, 2010 at 7:23 am
so the “good girl vs hoodrat” lyrics…is that a reference to alexis phifer and amber rose???
no shade, just wondering

September 13th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Why ya’ll going back and forth with this foolishness. I hpe you all know it was all staged. Black folks fall for everything.
September 13th, 2010 at 8:44 am
and that’s all.
Fanned.
September 13th, 2010 at 8:51 am
Great Scott! I just woke up in 2009 when the highlight of the VMAs was “Kanye vs Taylor”
*Hops back in DeLorean.*
September 13th, 2010 at 9:22 am
UM Am I the only one who listened to the kanye Song? he isn’t even talking about the Taylor Swift situation.
September 13th, 2010 at 9:24 am
MTV won cause they set it all up.
September 13th, 2010 at 9:56 am
why the fuk is he still singing? his voice is terrible. and if he insists on making pop songs then bring back jon brion. i miss the old, arrogant kanye, who samples david ruffin.
September 13th, 2010 at 9:58 am
checkmate……and any other cliche “game over” phrase anyone can think of. lol. I was about to do what YOU did, but you nailed it and saved me some time. Hats off to you my good man.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:06 am
easy man…she got long slender feet like any tall slim chic would (see rihanna & ANY MODEL CHIC IN THE WORLD, smh! what you running from those types fam??? lol)…not like they was busted cuz…but thats besides the point…yaw takin anger out on her man, yea kanye had an incredible new song out that i was loving + loving the fact he put push in that position to win! BUT this song is for the critics man — NOT THE FUCKING GIRL! the critics who treated em as if he raped her little white ass on stage last yr — I repeat I do not believe this song was for Taylor. take it easy man…half da niggaz on this board & prob ms info herself sounds like yaw wanna snuff her when you see her in the street…SHE aint cause none of this shit. sup with all this monkey bizness man smh!
September 13th, 2010 at 10:10 am
Let me start by saying that “always does something new with samples” is an oxymoron. lol. now….
What a sad sad life you must lead. You took aall of that time to write that, and u ACTUALLY believe it all? lol. PLEASE don’t sully the good name of J. Dilla by trying to use him as an example of why Kanye ISN’T a genius? If anything, the genius of Dilla ONLY HIGHLIGHTS why Kanye is ALSO a genius? And please miss me with that whole “if its mainstream and it sells than it CAN’T be genius or its automatically selling out” bulls**t. THAT IS A HUGE PART of the genius of Kanye. He IS THE ONLY HIPHOP ARTIST ALIVE who is able to SUCCESSFULLY bridge the gap on the level that he has!!! That alone is MORE than enough reason to categorize him as genius. That goes without mentioning his INCREDIBLE lyrics, vision, expression, honesty, etc. And beats are “average?” lmfao. Hmm…….man I’m not even going to justify that idiocy with a response.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:14 am
P.S.
One of my worst fears is that as i get older, I would lose touch with why i love music and no longer be able to appreciate whatever it is that a particular artist has to offer……
You’ve OBVIOUSLY already ran up on that bridge and dived off and for that reason i feel very very sorry for you.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:23 am
I’d like to see him vs. Araab on the MPC. That was the first thing I thought of when he busted it out.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:32 am
Couple of Thoughts:
1) I haven’t heard a hook more catchier than Kanye’s since info posted that homeless guy killin it.
2) Dudes still use Auto Tune?
3) Taylor Swift….Do you or Paris Hilton wanna borrow any of my Jordans? You gotta be a size 13, right?
4) At least she wasn’t wearing that same silver dress with black boots. I swear every time I see her on TV she’s rockin the same outfit.
5th) I don’t get involved in debates regarding obvious publicity stunts. The music industry/MTV has choreographed this for an entire year. Think about how crazy that is.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:33 am
Yes.
September 13th, 2010 at 10:48 am
You a idiot ……Kanye wrote a song for TS but she didnt take it
September 13th, 2010 at 10:51 am
Man i love kanye! But missinfo you do realise when you post these mtv video links us UK followers cannot watch themm? 🙁
September 13th, 2010 at 11:13 am
the master of the mpc is pete rock…
September 13th, 2010 at 11:18 am
doubt it sadly. but i agree , shes no selena gomez , now shes got talent.
September 13th, 2010 at 11:20 am
Kanye West… One of the corniest personalities in music. Can’t bare to listen to him rap anymore.
College Dropout still a classic though.
September 13th, 2010 at 11:30 am
the day i would ever think a teenage country singer would diss a hip hop star, then a rapper would diss back at the video awards, krs-one should have rushed the stage kanye is weak. i sure the ratings were weak too seeing that true blood and nfl week 1 must have crushed mtv dreams. i caught the re run at 1am, and damn rhianna cant shine mary j’s shoes. i was surprised the all pop chicks wasnt lip singing for once.
September 13th, 2010 at 11:31 am
If your a man and u watched this bullshit over the game u str8 p–sy
September 13th, 2010 at 11:38 am
I think we should all thank Taylor Swift for bringing ‘ye back. That performance left me with goose bumps. Pusha slaughtered it in style. Anyone who hates on the performance is just hatin’ on ‘ye because it’s the popular thing to do. Were you hating on Kanye when you were reachin’ up to “touch the sky” with him or gettin’ blinded by the “flashing lights?” No.
September 13th, 2010 at 11:47 am
bubblegum beef intrigues bubblegum fans
September 13th, 2010 at 12:04 pm
can’t disagree more.
Kanye playing the MPC live was wack as was look, the song, everything but Pusher T, WACK
Ms Swift was terrible too
that red haired chick and the machines was the only performance worth a damn
September 13th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Ok i think we don’t need to talk about tswift ever again, it’s pretty much over. I believe most of us come to missinfo’s blog for things in rap. Anyone who thinks ye’s performance was bad is just playing themselves, can’t wait for runaway to officially release. Also, i bet half of the audience at the vmas had no clue who pusha was, and i wonder if him and malice will ever be on that stage themselves.
September 13th, 2010 at 1:09 pm
wow most of the comments on here are really bugged. i just wonder what the hip hop world would have to say about this shit, if some big pop star white boy walked out on stage and did the same thing to beyonce that nite a yr ago
hey young world
This rap here… it may cause concern its
Broad and deep… why dont you listen and learn
Love mean happiness… that once was strong
But due to society… even thats turned wrong
Times have changed… and its cool to look bummy
And be a dumb dummy and disrespect your mummy
September 13th, 2010 at 1:45 pm
It would have been a MUCH bigger deal if it was flipped that way, because then it would have been ‘RACIALLY MOTIVATED’.

Black Milk – “Album of the Year”
I thought I’d throw something in the convo that’s really is hiphop, instead of that bullshit that Kanye was singing/rapping/whatever the hell he was doing. Pusha T a beast though.
September 13th, 2010 at 2:13 pm
“checkmate” ??? like his track is a banger? you’ve got to be kidding, how does kanye whip up so much hype with media bloggers and insiders, i heard it all before when everyone said how “groundbreaking” 808’s and heartbreak was, turned out it was just crap, power aint a bad record but nothing to get so worked up about, and that last tune was just alright, far from a “checkmate” (and i dont give 2 about taylor) just calling it how i hear it.
September 13th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
i agree that song was not a good look at all and the performance was too long and boring. why was pusha T there? is he signed to G.O.O.D Music? none of it made sense to me
September 13th, 2010 at 2:24 pm
taylors performance was a good look for her with her own fan base. only hood people are mad about it and not feelin it. the hood dont matter to her anyway because none of you are buying her music. shes still a lil young girl and kanye never did a sincere apology, he apologized recently because his album is about to drop and that makes him look even more like a jerk.
September 13th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
kayne called taylor , said sorry yet again , then said “i have a dope song we can do as a duet at the vma’s and blow ppl away. i would really like to do it with you , lets make it happen”. her ppl said no thanks … it was in her best interest to do a song about the indecent an entire year later , rather then at the grammys i might add , and yet again , play the victim pity card. honestly , i never herd of the young lady till the vma’s … i’m not in her demographic. however , i think this is more about kanye having all that power …lol. he got to close in 2008. prior to that he was mad at mtv. then he goes and hopes on stage in 09 , and it was wrong , he had no right to do that , and he paid for it via losing out on that tour with lady gaga . i think pink was the most adamint about dis liking kayne , and many other ppl really just calling him a jackass for a month or more , ( even his boy , obama , i know that stung). now , all that said , mtv is not stupid by any means , and knows how to try and get ratings ( see season 3 of jersey shore ) and they let him close the show in 10. i thought his performance was cool , but what the best part of the song was the hook , and the fact that after he finished , THEY WERE CHEERING FOR HIM !!! … really ? all in all kanye didnt win , taylor didnt win , MTV WON ! i my self will win when his album comes out cuz i like about 80% of the stuff he has leaked. ( i dont like that beyonce charlie wilson song at all.)
September 13th, 2010 at 3:01 pm
Well at least he’s apologizing for being douche bag…and doing women a service by warning them to runaway as fast as they can! lol
September 13th, 2010 at 3:10 pm
LOL I think he wore that kool aid suit on purpose. Looking like the devil cause that’s what everybody(mainly white people) were making him out to be.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:17 pm
Dilla makes him more of a genius?
SHUT THE FUCK UP.
It took 6 people for Kanye to write “Heartless”, or one of his songs on 808, so don’t tell me about writing.
FAIL.
He brought an mpc on stage, and pressed one button?
FAIL NIGGA, FAIL.
His beats are average homie, go to youtube listen to “intsrumental hip hop” and you’ll find peoples beats that are about as good.
Hate to break it to you, hip hop as a culture is pretty weak right now, and the most futuristic hip hop out right now, isn’t even filed under hip hop.
OG hip hop is disco, OG hip hop is NOT trap music or Boom bap, and that’s the fact of the matter. Things go in cycles, were in that new cycle.
Not only that, you cant’ rock a kanye joint at a REAL CLUB, heads dont ride for that, it’s not HYPE MUSIC. It’s music that plays off the fact that you heard it 50million times the radio played it.
Only time people get hype in the club is when its a KANYE show. The songs rockin the clubs you don’t know their name cause you probably dont keep up, but those cats make music specifically for your body.
And honestly, we all like to fuck, we like club music, when I said genius, I wanted to make it SPECIFIC what that means, it’s not needed to maker a great song, and to be honest, I can’t just drop a kanye song and knock out to it.
IT has little cohesiveness to the songs that actually make bitches drop ass, so he’s not doing it on that side, and he’s not a genius with it, so he’s somewhere in the middle LIKE A LOT OF ARTISTS. This is ok, it’s just people like you wanna use the term GENIUS waaaay too loosely…
BOOOO
p.s. roger and zapp didnt use autotune, he used a TALKBOX, and that my friend takes MAAAAD SKILLS to play, it’s not just speak in the mic and it sounds cool. That’s why barely anyone plays it, it took hime a decade to master it.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:27 pm
Aziz is Indian, like from the South Asian country India.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:30 pm
This is how it works, if you got 3 million right now, you are getting radio run, you are getting pr, and pub, PERIOD.
Daft punk did it best.
They capatlize on the sheep who just look at things, without sacrificing their humanity, and that my friend IS GENIUS.
Daft Punk is way more influential, Kanye is more INFAMOUS. In other words, more people know about Kanye, like my mom, but everytime I say his name she says “I do not like that guy”. I’m sure a high percentage of the world is the same.
So don’t confuse influential and infamous. Kanye is not a genius at what he does, people write his songs, I’m sure people help him with his beats, people OBVIOUSLY mix his shit with him (Dr Dre at least can say he is a master at that).
He is a PR stunt at this point, MTV and the MEDIA knows that America doesnt like him, and like a side show ass nigga, use his black ass to be the laughing stock to these jew cats who run this.
Kanye slowing down a daft punk song to a speed that is not danceable or even funky = FAIL
Blogs will soon die, the industry is already out, soon, you will have access to all the dopest shit directly coming to you, and decisions of dope will be made on how much your media moves WITHOUT THE HELP OF THE MASS MEDIA.
They have been taking this Internet and building it like they built everything outside of the internet, making it NOT fair to maintain control. It’s going to change ,and I guarantee Kanye will not be on the top charts, because all the dope shit will be getting run.
He pays for all this run, and after you pay so much, people do it for you for free, and that’s what we are seeing now.
Stop giving your power to these motherfuckers.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
Is the redhead you talking about Rihanna? I agree she sounded really pretty on the low notes.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:41 pm
p.s. in the support for kanye..
he is a TALENTED brotha, no one can take that away… he has something about him that is appealing!
if he takes his money and really does something that changes things for the MUSIC, or something outside of his own vanity, then I will BE HIS FAN and an advocate.
Right now though, he’s an over achiever in a mentally retarded school (pop music scene), and anyone who claims he’s genius is his family cheering for him at the special Olympics.
MAKE THAT CHANGE KAN, I’M ROOTING FOR YOU.
September 13th, 2010 at 3:45 pm
Kanye won!
Fuck this bitch STRAIGHT UP!
Kanye should have grab the mic from her this time too. He would have spared us 5 minutes of our life we can’t get BACK!
September 13th, 2010 at 3:49 pm
It’s a year later and Taylor has seen a lot of good happen to her this year. I really don’t think that it would upset her that much to write a song. But then again wasn’t her whole album about a Jonas Brother?
She’s victimizing herself right now. Why show the clip again if everyone including Obama has saw it already? It’s also patronizing. You a kid, see the innocence in Kanye. Girl bye!
If Kanye had done that to Rihanna a few years ago (Remember when he was mad that HE didn’t win Video of The Year for Stroner? She won over him with Umbrella) then no one would be up in arms about it a week later. If Jay-Z had snatched Lil Mama’s lip gloss after her renegade move, you think people would care?
Kanye did apologize to Taylor several times. It just baffles me that people are still attacking him over being rude to a teenage girl over a year ago. I was in upset that he did that to her two but what makes her different from everyone else who was taught to dust yourself off and keep it moving…
September 13th, 2010 at 7:33 pm
The funny thing is… a lot of people don’t seem to realize a lot of this is staged.
I don’t mean the songs, because they were (as far as I know) certainly real.
What I mean by staged is any tension NOW between Taylor & Kanye is staged.
A friend of one of them said that when Kanye found out Taylor was performing a song about him a few days ago, he wanted to talk to her about it. So they talked. She felt bad about it. They apologized to each other. And they’re cool now.
So anything else that comes of this is purely for marketing/sales purposes. Because as we all know, beef sells.
September 13th, 2010 at 8:44 pm
so now what defines a REAL CLUB? cuz ive been to all types of clubs and if your a good dj you can play almost anything and people will dance to it ad if you never have heard “get em high or stronger in the club then you lying. and i wasnt saying that you have to shake your ass or go crazy to kanyes music i was jus saying that music doesnt have to inspire change to be good, and thats opinion. and i know what a talk box is. and he pressed two buttons, in the world of arguing you gotta make sure you get the little shit right lol
September 13th, 2010 at 9:34 pm
Amazing so AMAZING
September 14th, 2010 at 1:29 pm
Y is everyone stilll talkin bout this shit??? Who caress??? Both taylor nd kanye need to move the fuck on !! They both suck regardlessss!!
September 14th, 2010 at 2:37 pm
Im soryy i think Kanye may be the best producer there has ever been but his performance and MPC palying was almost ringeworthy, it was that bad. Araab Musik would SLAUGHTER him
September 15th, 2010 at 6:10 am
Absolutely not, I said she had an incredible voice. I forget her name, Florence something or other? I don’t know, I don’t remember. But no I’m not talking about Rihanna, yuck.
September 15th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
This “incident” may fall under the category of “things that are least worthy of discussion” for a WHOLE. GODDAMNED. YEAR. Whoever you choose to side with, the bottom line is that this shit is beyond overblown. Let’s move the fuck on.
September 16th, 2010 at 6:01 pm
You stupid yo. Talking about Blacks were slaves for 400 years. You do know America is only like 234 years. Go to math and history class asshole.
September 17th, 2010 at 12:23 pm
Atleast taylor sung the song & didn’t lip sing like most artist do. Kanye had no reason to jump on stage last year, it was none of his business, he just wants to make a scene because he’s an idiot and probably prejudice. I would have kicked his ass if he got on stage and messed with me while i was getting an award! Jackass!
September 18th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
You switched a conversation about musical geniuses to one about club music and songs that make chicks “drop ass?” Again with the oxymoron’s. Done with you.
Being literate in your argument doesn’t make it a GOOD argument. You’re a moron. Good luck to you in life.
February 8th, 2011 at 12:58 am
what kind of question is this??
TAYLOR SWIFT OF COURSE!!
Her song touches my heart and ACTUALLY SHOWS HER FEELINGS and it is an amazing song
west song i dont get at all. it has nothing to do with taylor or the indecent. it just made me confused and cept for the chores nothing in the song relates to taylor.

Oh you’ve got to be kidding me. You’re saying Kanye West won by admitting he’s an asshole? So then if everyone just went around admitting that they’re actually jerkoffs then they’d all be the winners, vs a girl who forgave Kanye after he “apologized” in a tearjerker song that doesn’t just apply to him but people that have done wrong in general and want penance? What kind of a messed up world is this?
