(Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling: The Place Beyond The Pines co-stars turned real-life couple)
Ryan Gosling with a terrible peroxide dye job, big ham arms, a face tattoo, skinhead boots, and a dirtbike?
Thank you, Based Santa.
Ok, all giggly teenybopper jokes aside, finally there’s a trailer for the upcoming Ryan Gosling x Eva Mendes x Bradley Cooper movie, The Place Beyond the Pines. And I am really looking forward to the film, not just because of it’s Ryan in full delinquent glory. Not just because everyone who knows me knows that dirtbikes are my jam. Not just because Gosling’s sidekick for some of the movie is a baby and apparently he totally fell in love with his actor baby, lol.
I’m actually looking forward to this because it’s the latest collaboration between Ryan Gosling and director Derek Cianfrance, they did Blue Valentine together. And if you watched Blue Valentine (as I did, multiple times)…it’s was a uncomfortably horribly real depiction of both the euphoria of new love, and the rotting carcass of a done love.
The Place Beyond the Pines is a crime story of a stunt rider (Gosling) who tries to feed his family by robbing banks, and the cop (Cooper) who intervenes…as well as the effect that has on their sons (Dane DeHaan, Emory Cohen), 15 years later. Lots of potential sadcore there for me.

The set of ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ is where the hearts of a million and one fangirls broke into a million and one pieces…sigh.

Ahh…nothing like a melodramatic crime opera. I usually prefer my action without the emotional story, but I’m sure when it hits on demand or Netflix I’ll watch it.

Blue Valentine was a great movie but incredibly depressing. I think I watched it maybe three times thinking the ending would change. I can’t wait to see this one though, my man Liotta finally getting a meaningful role following his supporting actor Oscar worthy performance in Things Fall Apart (lol).

@miss info , watching blue Valentine is like watching a snuff film. i saw it once , it was brilliant , but i will never watch it again. Michelle Williams got robed that year at the Oscars i wish this had dropped before jan 1st so we could get some oscar nods for rg. he’s the new millennium brad pitt / james dean.

Taking bets on whether he changes his facial expression less than 3x in this movie like usual yet still gets Oscar buzz.

I don’t think just staring serenely while chaos ensues around you puts you in any Oscar worthy category. Besides I think Brad Pitt would argue that he’s the new millennium Brad Pitt.

Brad Pitt would cast himself in the lead of his own life story. Brad Pitt would cast him in the lead role of Angelina Jolie’s life story.
