New ‘The Avengers’ Trailer: An Orgy of Super Heros, Plus One Loki

I’m counting down to the opening of Hunger Games, even though part of me already senses that the quality control is far from Potter-level, and bordering on I Am Number Four cheese. But no matter….big budget cinematography and flash will not be a problem for this upcoming Avengers movie for sure. I’m assuming since it’s a combo movie of Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye, they will be just combining the respect solo budgets of each star. No?
Anyways, in the new Avengers trailer, you get more backstory, and that Marvel money shot of all the heros together in the round.

(*if this gets pulled down again, check EW‘s page)
My favorite part is when Hulk saves Iron Man, hiphugging him like a baby. Aww.

LOL at “I Am Number Four cheese.”

I just can’t bring myself to get hyped for this movie. Marvel “sold out” to Disney, mailed it in with Iron Man 2, then each character movie just got progressively worse.
It just feels like the ultimate cash-in, and every teaser and trailer shows all the typical scenes so I can feel it.
I’m pushing all my nerd chips to the middle of the table for Dark Knight Rises though. They’re showing just enough of that where if it comes up as a clunker nobody could really see it coming. And there’s no big money kids conglomerate behind it to give you that “I knew this was gonna happen” 20/20 hindsight aftertaste.

Porter has the advantage of dealing with a world not entrenched in Fantasy, but I hope this movie delivers. I’m still curious what villain outside of Loki will be featured. I’d think it was the Skrull but we’ll see…..

I’ll take a Marvel post over a Kid Cudi post any day Info.
Dope.

Why are Black Widow and Hawkeye even in this? What are they suppose to do? Do Cartwheels and shoot arrows? They’re so lame. They should have did a deal with the other studios to get Spider-Man, Wolverine and Storm.

lol ouch!
February 29th, 2012 at 9:46 pm
wait…u hated Ironman 2? It wasn’t so bad….at least Terrence Howard got kicked out, lol. Look, I like these glossy marvel flicks. They’re not like super substantial but they’re entertaining. Even Thor was watchable.
But obviously…yes….All Bane Everything. That’s a given. I’m actually looking forward to seeing John Carter too. But maybe that’s just because I’m a Riggins fan.
I just finally saw Super 8. It was charming. The monster was really wimpy. But the kids were great.

WOW. Can you even imagine the wheeling and dealing it would take to make that happen. Comic nerds, has that EVER happened? It doesn’t even seem possible. Meanwhile….obviously they wanted ScarJo in there…duh! And it’s not for her acting skills. Which she doesn’t have.
Hawkeye was in Thor briefly….so I knew they were ramping up to get him out there. Renner isn’t offensive to me at all. And I thought he was a great addition to the Mission Impossible movie….which I loved!! Dangit I shoulda posted the Bourne trailer. Wait…did I?
smh.

The actors want the mega cross over but the various heads behind the scenes keep the stories separate while under the Marvel umbrella. Spidey, Logan & Storm do pull side duties as Avengers but to throw them in over other characters would be doing to much. Xmen needs to get there story in order.
In a perfect world we’d see Dr Doom & Loki link up as the villains.

First off, Disney had nothing to do with the production of Iron Man 2 that movie was well into post production when Disney purchased Marvel. Second, this movie was written and directed by Joss Whedon which is enough for me to say it most definitely not suck.

And as good as this could be I’m nervous for what will follow. DC is out of tricks once Batman drops. This Spidey Reboot has me nervous…..but perhaps the next Wolverine in Japan gets things moving again.
Y’all realize how fast they shelved all that Deapdool solo movie talk?
February 29th, 2012 at 10:17 pm
Honestly the previews arent blowing me away but Im still REALLY lookin forward to it because of Joss Whedon.. he’s a great storyteller, and Im hoping hell bring somewhat of an X-Men First Class feel to this movie.

They better add Wasp and Ant-Man in the sequel, they were the best thing in the Ultimates comics/cartoon movie.

I didn’t hate IM2, it just disappointed me and some parts felt rushed. It felt like they breezed over parts of the story to hurry and get the Avengers tie-in done.
Thor… I didn’t like. It just felt like everything from IM2 to the Hulk reboot to Captain America was like summarized reading to what will eventually be this Avengers doo doo platter.
John Carter looks decent, it’s a character I’m unfamiliar with so I’d go into the theater with no expectations. I am a Tim Riggins fan as well! I’m hoping he can find a lane somewhere and maybe this is his vehicle.
Super 8 was a good movie, I kept putting it off until a couple months ago, I was expecting a chump monster but the kids were really good. It has a cult feel to it.

You are correct when you say Disney purchased Marvel when IM2 was already well into post production, but the fact remains you will not get an accurate portrayal of Iron Man with Disney behind it. Tony Stark is too dark a character in my opinion for Disney to allow the next writer/director do justice. This is part of the reason I feel Favreau decided not to do IM3. They’re not allowing him to develop the character like he, and the fans, want.
Tony Stark had an alcohol addiction that was a major part to his character, you think Disney is gonna touch that? All we got in IM2 was him “drunk” at a party before being rehabbed by Nick Fury. Again, this was before Disney even touched the franchise. We can only imagine how they’ll dull the character into a bunch of witty quips and money shots.
As far as the Wheldon love, I get it. You’re probably one of those big Firefly underground fanatics who brought the DVDs of the short-lived series and thought it would’ve been the best show ever if more people were like you. And while he may be a great screenwriter/director, He’s not gonna get the final call on that script. Again, that’s why Favreau walked. He’ll take the Disney payday and the credit, but you’ll never see his true vision as long as the mouse is behind the franchise.

honestly, anything spidey will be better than the last 2. I know lots of folks loved them….but maybe I just didnt like spidey himself. I’m not thrilled to see Andrew Garfield, but I’m just not a Tobey McGuire fan. And I just hated the sappy parts.
Did anyone see Chronicle? My cousins who are hardcore movie buffs both recommended it.

fuck this, just make a movie version of ultimates. that’s why sam jackson is nick fury anyway. also, what is this the third cgi hulk? i wish norton was in this(best banner/hulk). as for chronicle, yeah, it’s good. basically an american version of AKIRA–minus the cyberpunk. anybody watch the guy pierce promo for prometheus? he’s weyland from the weyland yutani corporation.
March 1st, 2012 at 12:27 am
can not wait for prometheus!!! i thought norton was good but the movie plot wise was uneven.

I hate the fact that they cant seems to get Hulk right…At least he’s not as big as a building this time but he looks too much like a cartoon still..

You clearly don’t know what you’re talking about Disney only puts the “family friendly” tag on movies that they directly release under they’re Disney Studios umbrella. Disney is not producing these films they’re only distributing them which is very different, look at all the trailers and posters for this(or any of the Marvel movies post-Disney) do you see the Disney logos anywhere? What Marvel Studio’s is doing from a story stand point is not being restricted by Disney in anyway. The whole point of Marvel creating there own movie studio was to be able to have control over the film properties why would they then hand control back over to Disney. Since Disney bought Marvel they really haven’t change a damn thing just like they didn’t change anything when they bought Pixar or Miramax they aren’t interested in being involved on a creative level.
You don’t like the direction they’re going with the story that fine but blame Kevin Feige the guy who been in charge of this whole Avengers movie idea from the very beginning, the guy who hired Jon Favor and every other writer and director involved in all of the Marvel Studios film since the first Iron Man. He’s the guy making all the major disions on story.

Apparently the Deadpool script is so off-the-wall batshit crazy it just might work. Like kickass on steroids. Of course it has to be R Rated, but everyone loves it. too bad Fox has those rights.
March 1st, 2012 at 10:28 am
I need to go see Chronicle actually.
I liked Spiderman 1 & 2….3 made me ill. But ya they killed me with the sappy teen drama romance stuff.
Batman has everyone wanting to be “Dark” now so we’ll see. Toby as Peter Parker did grow on me though.

Funny you mention Akira. Is Hollywood still trying to white wash that w/ Timberlake as the lead character?

I can not wait to see how this unfolds. The clips of the hulk look good but we have not seen him interact with live actors. This whole move worries me. Im afraid they have shown us everything we need to see. Or that the entire movie is summed up in the downtown fight and the woods fight. Those are the only two action clips we get. At any rate I still will be first in line.
