T.I. Says Atlanta’s Hip-Hop Scene Has Been Too Quiet, In New Interview
Posted by Mr.North under Interviews , Videos[11] Comments
T.I. made his first post-prison interview when visiting Atlanta’s V-103 to premiere his new single. During the 17-min interview, TIP (with son Major by his side) speaks on his return home, going back to his street roots for his new album, his VH1 documentary and new book, being labelled a “bad guy”, debating between two titles for his upcoming album, sending his yet-to-be-released “N****s In Paris (Remix)” to Kanye in France for his blessing, Drake, Lil’ Wayne and Rick Ross being the only faces in rap currently, and Atlanta’s Hip-Hop scene being quiet.

I already knew soon as he got out he was going to get Atlanta buzzing again. the lane was wide open for him and to be honest besides Luda I don’t see anyone from there with his work ethic.

Sayin that is sorta a slap in the face to dudes out their doin it but its true..
ATL lost its buzz a little but there is no shortage of rappers out there..
I like hearing him talking about selling out and “what have you” lol very interesting conversation..

Im from ATL.. Zone 6 to be exact, I didn’t take it as a slap in the face. Tip is one of the more talented rappers out, not just from Atlanta, but period. So I agree with him 100%, and I’ll take it one further and say Hip Hop as a whole needs Tip and OutKast – proley just as much as the city of Atlanta does. Tip been in and outta jail the last 2 to 3 yrs. and ‘Kast aint dropped an album technically since Speakerboxx/Love Below in ’03 (Idlewild was a soundtrack). And then you got Jeezy, who’s last album dropped in ’08… Tip and OutKast are definitely part of the upper echelon, when it comes to rap music. The game needs them.

T.I. has always been a “whatever” rapper. Let’s keep it 100. He has a couple of hot joints, even some shit I’d call classic like “I’m Serious”, but his body of work isn’t exactly notable. He’s a notch about your typical ‘candy rapper’, but only slightly.

To be honest I’m that excited to hear new music from T.I.. He had a hot streak (06-08) where he was almost untouchable but he lost it by going to jai, twice. On to the next one.

Of course the scene was too quiet….. you were in jail dude. You weren’t on top of things….
I think the ATL has a steady healthy scene. The southern FAD is far gone and only quality music is getting exposure like it should. I really don’t care about T.I’s return, But I would hate to see another dude lose his career over stupidities. He deserves a comeback like everyone else. Does he have it, maybe not?
He need to be in a enablers free zone to make this happen. Starting with his wife.
