It’s not quite the Kanye-versus-Cole-versus-Mac Miller mania of June 2013, but this month has been noticeably busy in an otherwise slow year for rap albums. Childish Gambino, The Game and Vince Staples have all put out projects in the first half of October, while T.I., Logic and Boaz (stream Intuition here) are bidding for your bucks today with brand new LPs. The trend will continue next week with Stalley, Black Milk and Lil Wayne, if his frustratingly quiet Carter V campaign is still on schedule, all hitting shelves.
Back to today, though: hit the jump to stream T.I.’s Paperwork: The Motion Picture and Logic’s Under Pressure, as well as advanced listens of Stalley’s Ohio and Black Milk’s If There’s a Hell Below (both dropping October 28).

T.I. returns with his ninth solo album and first as part of Hustle Gang’s new deal with Columbia Records. With executive producer Pharrell at the helm, Paperwork: The Motion Picture shuffles between rugged street records (“About the Money,” “King”) and bright, colorful songs featuring the unmistakable sound of Skateboard P (“Paperwork,” “G Shit”). Young Thug, Rick Ross, Chris Brown, Jeezy, Usher, Lil Boosie and more fill out the loaded guest list.

An unfortunate prison sentence may have sabotaged Meek Mill’s Fall 2014 takeover, but Stalley steps up to the plate for his MMG family with his long-awaited debut album, Ohio. The major label format can be a tricky obstacle for a blue collar rapper like Stalley, but he does well to hold on to his trunk-rattling core while smoothing out the rough edges with the radio-friendly “One More Shot,” featuring Rick Ross and August Alsina. Nipsey Hussle, Ty Dolla $ign, De La Soul and long-time ally Rashad also ride shotgun on the 12-track journey.
Pre-order on iTunes (October 28).
Years of blood, sweat and seriously dope rhymes culminate in the release of Logic’s debut album Under Pressure today. Even while making his Def Jam debut, the Maryland-born lyricist hasn’t succumb to the pressure of lining his LP with star names, instead slipping tracks with Childish Gambino and Big Sean onto the deluxe edition. As for the heart of the project, expect premium rapping over polished production from the likes of DJ Dahi, Six, Tae Beast, Dun Deal and S1.

You won’t see Black Milk burning up the Billboard charts anytime soon, but his critical acclaim speaks for itself. The latest in the Detroit producer/rapper’s growing line of highly-rated releases is If There’s a Hell Below. Juggling the beats with the bars for the fifth time in his career, Milk holds his own alongside Pete Rock, Sean Price, Blu, Guilty Simpson and Bun B, who co-stars on the gritty yet glittering standout, “Gold Piece.”
Pre-order on iTunes (October 28).
