Please forgive us.
Here’s what the LA-Times reported today….
“A prison inmate who had implicated a former Los Angeles Police Department officer in the shooting death of rap star Biggie Smalls has renounced his story, tying a new knot in the tangle of intrigue that surrounds the still-unsolved killing.
Waymond Anderson, who was briefly a top-selling R&B artist and is serving a life term for murder, said in a recent deposition that he lied about LAPD involvement in the Smalls slaying as part of a “scam” concocted by two other convicts to squeeze a large monetary settlement out of the city.
Smalls’ family has filed a wrongful death suit seeking damages from the city. In a surprising twist, Anderson accused the rapper’s family and its lawyer of participating in the scheme and offering to pay him for false testimony implicating the LAPD….
He said he was offered a percentage of any settlement if he testified that former Los Angeles Officer Rafael Perez had told him that another ex-officer, David Mack, was involved in the murder. In the deposition, he repudiated earlier statements to police investigators in which he described conversations with both of the disgraced officers.
“I don’t know David Mack, I don’t know Rafael Perez,” Anderson told lawyers representing relatives of the slain rapper, whose real name was Christopher Wallace.
The two officers “had no involvement with the . . . murder,” Anderson said under oath. At various points in the deposition, he said, “It was a lie, and I’m ashamed of it,” and, “I did what I had to do to survive….”

Wow I am first to comment on this… Ok well let me say this, It is odvious that someone got to that guy to change his story. YOu hear about it in the mob and in other high profile cases and being in jail its not that hard to get to anyone. Its a shame that they CAN’T FIND THE KILLER FOR BIGGIE. That guy that said that that biggies family and lawyer offered him a piece of the settlement is sad. I am almost ashamed to be of the African American Race with something like that. Its not enough that Ms Walace lost her only son and the LAPD and the city of Los Angles is laughing in her face everyday that they don’t bring someone up on charges. HOw she has to deal with this Convicted Killer claiming that she offered him money to Lie. Dam peope we got to do better!!!

I think its kinda odd that Chuck Phillips wrote an article absolving Anderson of guilt, and then a few months later Anderson recants his testimony about LAPD being involved with biggies death.
Isn’t chuck phillips the same man who said biggie paid for 2pac to be murdered? I hope people note that conflict of interest.

@sportaphile….VERY GOOD POINT. yes, you’re right, Phillips is the same one who wrote about that completely absurd theory. I’ll post a link. Prior to that I thought he was an amazing journalist, and one who was unbiased. But that theory was so groundless…..I dont know.
Overall, this whole issue stinks.
My question is….
If Waymond Anderson is in jail for life, then why would he lie “for money”?

@Missinfo,
I think homeboy changed his tune because he is trying to free himself from lock down..Google it, i won’t give the website that he has set up to free himself any shine.But maybe I already did by just saying that.
His myspace page talks about how he is trying to get out of jail for a murder he did not commit.
I think his only intrest is his self and if he points a finger at LAPD, then he will never get out of there.
Lastly, that money would benefit him for the obvious reasons, if he gets free, he got some loot, not like that 12 cents an hour they pay you in jail can amount to anything and the last reason with a stage name Sauve…you better have money to pay them boys to stay away from that ass in the shower.

@info the I do know about Phillips and he WAS an amazing journalist but its just like some rappers money and fame changes them. They start writing tanted stories that they get pressure to write one way or another. Oh and for the record a person would want money even if they are in jail becuase they might have fam that can use the money or me might need his commisary. Its sad how things are going in both biggie and 2pac’s murder. Lets just hope with all this we can get closure to these Tragic death.
QUEENS STAND UP!!!

as much as i love the notorious one,his murder will never be solved.i decided to just move on.but this here is just dispicable.who even gave this clown a place to speak?

@missinfo
in reality, a “life term” only lasts like 25 years with parole available after 16 years. so he’s not really in jail for life.

@Lee
Don’t be ashamed to be Black because of this guy. Plenty of people of all races sell out and are bought out.
on topic:
It really wouldn’t make sense if he’s in jail for life to accept a money bribe. I could understand being threatened with his life or that of his loved ones though. Maybe that’s why he changed his story.
September 26th, 2007 at 8:50 pm
why would he lie for money? Prison walss don’t negate the need for currency for real. And he has family somewhere I’m sure that he wants to hit off. But the larger isue to is, this is the problem with informants. I’m not onna get on that no snitch shit, but when you have a witness who has something to gain, money, less time or whatever they’re only gonna say what’s going to help them in the long run. People are selfish. Too many cases go unsolved, money or not. I just hope that we can step back and take it in the larger context, and do what we can to help victims, and expose those that are only out to harm. R.I.P. B.I.G. check out my interview with Biggie before Ready To Die dropped.

MissInfo,
This might be related to what this topic is about, but what’s the deal with Faith Evans not getting enough from the Biggie estate? (Money Wise).
I know it was talked about in a recent article — Vibe or something like that.

I guess I should have read the article before preparing a statement. I wrote this before reading the content of the article.
Dear BIG,
I’ve failed you. It all happened a little over a year ago. I was curious. The one song was kinda catchy, I found myself snapping to it. I kinda liked the remix with Bow Wow. He said he was under 21 with a Black card, that amused me. So yes, I’ll admit to it now. I accepted a burned copy of Dem Franchize Boy’s CD and yes, I listened to it once. I know you’d be disappointed in me. From “Ready to Die” to “Lean with it, Rock With It.” I know. I know its wrong. If you were around I swear it would have never happened. Notorious, what’s wrong with me? Me, a grown man, attempted to Lean with it and rock with it and even worse, I kinda enjoy the Soulja Boy song. I tried to listen to Life After Death, but it wasn’t the same, there were no T-Pain vocals on it. I remember the days when a dose of Life After Death disc 1 would remind me what music is supposed to sound like, then Puffy did the Biggie Duets, which made me question everything I ever thought about you. I know, its not your fault. Just please bear with me as I try to work out these demons.
Sincerely,
Charles
PS…yep, it was an open and honest letter, that’s why I didn’t include my last name.

It’s sad that they have footage of biggie’s last moments but don’t have his killers yet, it’s been 10 years!
September 27th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
It really is ashamed that Biggie’s murder is still not solved. One of the other writers over at Highbrid Nation wrote a really insightful peice asking whether this is another case of the ridiculous “snitching” code of the streets that has gone so wrong.
The whole thing really angers me
September 27th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
i lost all hope for big,pac and jmj.there are just some things we will never see in our lifetime,like the sun burn out and these murders solved.the thing that bugs me is that there are people who know about each one of these murders, yet no one came foward but they stay screaming we want justice.
