As you meow (sorry, may) have heard, El-P and Killer Mike have agreed to recreate their new Run The Jewels 2 album entirely out of cat noises after one fan’s Kickstarter project was successfully funded (it actually smashed its target by $20,000, which will be donated to the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown).

Because they’re also two of the nicest guys in the game (in more ways than one), El-P and Killer Mike hung out with Sly Jones, the fan behind the Meow The Jewels Kickstarter, during their recent tour stop in Phoenix, AZ. The fellas chatted about the inspiration behind the truly incredible idea, the very real challenges of making an album out of cat sounds, and the moment they realized, shit, we’re actually doing this.
