Red Bull Music Academy lectures are always a must-watch for music enthusiasts, but during his sit down with journalist Chairman Mao, Q-Tip treated the audience to a little something extra. At around the 1:36:35 mark, the legendary Tribe frontman discussed working with Kanye West and played an unreleased track entitled “Mama’s Boyfriend.” The record, which samples Billy Joel’s “Movin’ Out,” was made in Hawaii during the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. According to Tip, there was even a version with Soulja Boy on it!
Mikey Fresh: It should be noted a version leaked back in 2011 and Kanye performed this at various shows. (see here: Kanye West’s Previously Unreleased, Very Personal Song “Mama’s Boyfriend” (Full Version)
