Nicki Minaj Shocks the Grammys With Exorcist-Themed “Roman Holiday”
Posted by Matty U under Awards , Performances , Videos[100] Comments
After Nicki announced she would be performing a new song off her forthcoming sophomore album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded a week ago, the Barbz stormed the Grammy tonight with “Roman Holiday.” The track will be made available through iTunes shortly. She played a woman possessed and went all out to incorporate a full exorcism in her performance.
Minaj will also be premiering another track off her album, “Starships,” tomorrow on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.

That shit was horrible…
February 12th, 2012 at 11:44 pm
Roman MUST DIE
February 12th, 2012 at 11:44 pm
absolutely dreadful performance…
February 12th, 2012 at 11:45 pm
So…….who’s gonna break it to Nicki that she’s on her 14th minute? Yea girl, I agree..Take a holiday!
February 12th, 2012 at 11:46 pm
We don’t wanna hear her album anymore, this performance was a disgrace. Shame.
February 12th, 2012 at 11:46 pm
Rap lost. This is seriously one of the worst performances I have seen in life.
Fuck. Is this life????
February 12th, 2012 at 11:50 pm
God owes us all a wish for having put us all through that smh
February 12th, 2012 at 11:55 pm
We need to exorcise the wackness out of Nicki ASAP
February 12th, 2012 at 11:58 pm
that was a great performance (theatrically) but its getting obvious shes not a talented musician and shes just a cute girl playing the part.
February 12th, 2012 at 11:58 pm
I am ashamed to be a hip-hop head, a female and a Christian after seeing this performance. She shames us all. This was the only hip-hop performance of the night!!! All I know is hip-hop is in deep shit, if this is who we’ve got representing us. Sad, sad, sad day.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:00 am
I personally liked the performance. Nicki Minaj is doing things no other artists has ever done in Hip-Hop. Haters can hate, and real talk, she may NOT be your cup of tea. Just keep it moving. Great job, Nicki!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:03 am
TERRIBLE. I’M AT A LOST FOR WORDS MISS INFO.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:05 am
So know the “Satanic” stuff is cool and mainstream?? Dont let these people pull the wool over your eyes people!!!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:05 am
I’m ashamed as well!!! SMH!!!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:06 am
honestly the “shock” element of this is nothing new. Artists have been trying to push the boundaries of taste at the Grammys for years. So I can’t fault Nicki for doing the same as Madonna and Gaga and Marilyn Manson etc. But Jonelle did you like the song? I think if you have this big of a platform, it’s difficult to perform a new song, especially one that doesn’t have a more simple hook or something for the mainstream audience to latch onto….hmm. Just so much happening.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:07 am
Wait.. But we only got a 90 sec tribute to Whitney? Couldn’t they have replaced this disrespectful “performance” with a more special tribute to our beloved Whitney? So over artists using religion (one she most likely isn’t even apart of) just to cause a stir, to gain more popularity. Desperate times, call for desperate measures. Yea, we are getting tired of the neon colors and wigs.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:07 am
lol tell us how you really feel!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:10 am
agreed, it was a great performance magnitude & theatrics wise; I understand the concept she was going for but it wasn’t executed properly and it threw off the entire performance. I think she was also slighted tonight in terms of the Best New Artist award.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:11 am
I have to differ with your first statement. The “shock” element of her performance is unprecedented. I’m pretty sure Nicki has offended a good number of people with this performance — I’m talking the Catholic Church, predominately. Whether or not that was her intent, I’m not sure, though frankly, I don’t see her as a evil person who would want to do such intentionally. In regards to the song, it was alright. Definitely not my favorite. I did see aspects of “old Nicki”, and by old, I’m talking about mix-tape Nicki — the kind of music that originally won her street credit. The theatrics, the song, and the subject matter is going to get Nicki A LOT of exposure (good and bad) and with an album coming out in April, maybe it will help? I agree with you that a lot is happening. She is a innovator though. I have to give her that.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:13 am
Jesus was weeping tears of BLOOD after that sacrilegious performance… SORRY NICKI— DRAKE has been gassing you up too much boo boo- cause that was an EPIC FAIL. Never do that ish again!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:15 am
Lol y’all hating and Nicki is chillin with her millions not givin a fuxk
February 13th, 2012 at 12:15 am
Nicki stopped reppin hip hop after she got her deal, so no, us hip hop heads will not claim her, nor accept this bullshit. She is in a class by herself.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:21 am
Nigga you crazy she was spittin on her back in mid air hahahahah GOOD OR BAD THAT WAS A GREAT WELL THOUGHT OUT PRESENTATION!
Now I do think she has put too much energy into dissing Kim on this album that s basically trash and her beat selection is some euro trash pop melted into hip hop that just sucks and hasnt seen its signature moment yet but make no bones about it trash or not, shes being original and taking a path that no female rapper has ever taken and in the process getting very RICH and extendng her career or 15min.
If she survives this album she needs to go back to rapping..
February 13th, 2012 at 12:24 am
what about Madonna’s like a prayer? also have you ever seen Manson’s perfs? lots of anti-religious imagery
February 13th, 2012 at 12:26 am
Miss Info, are you actually in support of this performance?
February 13th, 2012 at 12:26 am
I am so disgusted by what Female Hip Hop is being reduced to. What happen to #SUBSTANCE? Oh yeah I forgot we are talking about Onika, she never had any substance. She is a joke. The End.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:29 am
I can appreciate the theatrics and risk, but I think she would have been better off using the opportunity to address the Grammy audience, either with a groundbreaking perf of a song they know…or a debut of a song they can latch onto.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:32 am
*blank stare* at your comment. A innovator? Really
February 13th, 2012 at 12:33 am
I’m usually #TEAMNICKI but I feel this performance was disrespectful to catholics and it was very weird idk why she’s so obsessed with this roman sh*t and fyi nicki roman is a man you are a woman lol
February 13th, 2012 at 12:34 am
This is just bad all the way around…..All this shock stuff is trash, just make good music!!!
February 13th, 2012 at 12:37 am
Shoulda had The Throne up there to represent hip-hop. Nicki and Wayne didn’t do it for me…
February 13th, 2012 at 12:51 am
Hi Miss Info — As I said in my first comment, I’m referring strictly to Hip-Hop. Oh yes, Madonna and Marilyn Manson have definitely pushed the envelope in their performances but in Hip-Hop? It’s unheard of. I’m actually quite entertained by the responses of people; especially Christians. Women in Hip-Hop already have gender stereotypes to deal with and all of a sudden, Nicki Minaj comes out with a PERFORMANCE (it is simply a performance) and people want to freak out — grab their sage, holy water, rosary, and Bible because they feel threatened. Where were all these Christians when they were booty poppin’ and groovin’ to male artists who rapped about bitches, drugs, and hoes? It was a performance. Acting. Theatrics. Whatever.
Yes, Nicki IS a innovator. I disagree with people who try to say, “Oh, she’s trying to be another Lady Gaga.” Really? So anyone who wants to step outside the box, wear whatever they want, and act eccentric is now trying to be Lady Gaga?
Nicki Minaj is in fact Christian. She has thanked God first in all her award acceptance speeches. This performance was not anti-religious or sacrilegious. Yes, there were aspects of exorcism but perhaps it has something to do with her alter ego Roman? Who knows. All I know is that I have been tracking her Twitter to determine whether or not she has lost followers or gained followers post-performance and fact: she has gained 3,000+ followers since the Grammy performance. Like I said, take it or leave it. There are so many artists that can meet your fancy. Don’t stress yourselves over a performance. This one performance does not determine whether or not Nicki Minaj has talent. Have your opinions and reservations but hold your judgment. Stop trippin’. It’s too soon to tell whether or not her sophomore album will be great or a failure.
February 13th, 2012 at 12:57 am
Yo barbies don’t quit do you, amazing
February 13th, 2012 at 1:03 am
The song was whack, the performance terrible. If that’s the kind of music we’re to expect, then she’s kinda making me feel as if we rated her too highly. And oh wow she offends the Catholic society, yes this has been done, by numerous people, the fact that she does it as well made it even worse. Drake & Wayne need to stop pumping her up & she needs to lay off the drugs and give them back to Wayne. Messed up Barbie.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:05 am
YMCMB went home with no awards. Wayne should have watched The Throne!
February 13th, 2012 at 1:06 am
all opinions welcome here! thank you for sharing yours
February 13th, 2012 at 1:12 am
That was my favorite part as well — Nicki spitting on her back in the air! She is such a innovator. Someone tell me who else in Hip-Hop has done that? That last part was SICK! I hope she proves all these naysayers wrong and comes out with some legitimate music for this upcoming album.
Nicki will have people talking about this performance for a hot minute. She did what she had to do. Kudos.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:12 am
You can say that she was slighted because you actually hear Bon Ivers album or any of the other artist nominated.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:17 am
As a Christian her performance did not offend me. However it did offended my ear drums.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:25 am
Ok so, yeah, right, the thing is, I see that, I just… I’ve got nothing.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:28 am
Although it may not been her Intentions to disrespect anyone, fact of the matter is the concept (which some understood) was not executed well, and besides the performance she arrived w. A man dressed as the pope so of course she’s gonna catch a lot of heat from religious groups. As far as her being an innovator I wouldn’t necessarily place her that high on the pedestal. she can rap, problem is she’s using all of these gimmicks to seek the attention she’s already receiving. more money, more problems….smh
February 13th, 2012 at 1:31 am
The movie “The Devil Inside” is disgraceful I don’t see you guys going to the makers and saying they are going to hell. I agree the performance was bad but the song is great.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:46 am
hahaa. got it.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:56 am
Let her try pulling that shit with a menorah. Of course the powers that be, predominantly Jewish, would have thrown her off the stage during rehearsals, and she would never make a recording again. Just pain disgusting, having nothing to do with theater or art. American culture is already in big trouble. She simple affirmed what many already know.
February 13th, 2012 at 2:04 am
she not even lo key wit her gaga ryding nomore
February 13th, 2012 at 2:27 am
I see that one person is a huge Nicki fan on here. I am not a fan of her performance at all but I think she can rap. This was a terrible representation of what to expect from her, but hey we’ve all been wrong about these songs in the past. This was not a good song by any stretch of the imagination though.
February 13th, 2012 at 3:33 am
that shit was horrible!! Real rachit! One of the worst performace I have ever seen!!
February 13th, 2012 at 5:19 am
first off
when kanye and jay z saw the list of performers they said prolly said well the grammys aint that important this year. so what we were nominated? we win,ok. we lose,ok.
second.
nikki minaj should have performed moment for life. shes not on the level where she can use the grammys as a push for her new record. last year gaga used the grammys as a push for her song “born this way” but she targeted “the gays” to get them to buy her album. nikki minaj cant really aim at a new group of people to get to buy this new album shes putting out unless your really into excorsisms or really into ghost. it was not in any way shape or form memorible, i believe it was horrible. it was a terrible song. she shouldnt try dissing lil kim or any oter female rapper. she should know shes on her own plateau and dissing a person that has fell off in your past in your new album.
she shouldve at least showed some skin lol.
February 13th, 2012 at 5:21 am
She lost alot of sales by doing what she did. The Catholic church will go off on her it lack alot of truth. Made her look more crazy. I will not be buying her album! The song was just balaljdudhejdkdh…..whatever she was saying while cash money records makes money if she sales or not. She needs to go back to where she started. I dis like the new Nicki….shes wayyyyy to out of the box #WannaB Lady GaGa
February 13th, 2012 at 5:41 am
Is this Nicki?
February 13th, 2012 at 6:13 am
ha
February 13th, 2012 at 6:16 am
Well Baby from Cash Money will buy her Album like he did Lil Wayne carter4. WannaBLadyGaGa shes so light skinned now,is she even Black? The Raido is going to go in on her lol another Banned Video on the way from BET!
February 13th, 2012 at 6:17 am
daaaaammmmmmmn..ha
February 13th, 2012 at 6:30 am
This performance should have around-the-way confused chicks snatching out their lacefronts and coming to their senses. The music was terrible. However produced that needs their hands broken and Protools deleted from their hard drive. WTF! Her theatrics were more interesting than entertaining. Lately Nicki reminds me of a cross between Missy Elliott and Lady Gaga with a splash of RuPaul. I hope that new album has at least 3 street anthems and 4 club bangers otherwise it’s going to be a frisbee.
February 13th, 2012 at 6:32 am
im my eyes the theatrics were amazing well thought out coming in with a pope, hey they even had alter boys getting sexually harassed which is a signature…..nvm
so yeah great performance Hip-Hop is always put into this box of rules don’t do this don’t do that, when in all Honesty it’s the one genre that consistently is meant to break the rules for better or worse (the no wack rappers rule has been broken several times much to my dismay) and the religious thing as far as you don’t kneel down and chant to the devil after watching it then i am sure your’e fine.
for my ears well as miss info said it aint one i would listen to and be like yeah so im forced to think its a waste of time, truthfully i aint been impressed with anything shes brought out lately, the choruses are weak, the verses are well..someting and the subject is old literally (kim must be like 50 years old) no disrespec(t)..sing or rap dont care make good music..
but what does it matter i didnt buy last album and thats the one i actually liked songs on
February 13th, 2012 at 7:18 am
Anyone else notice that when Nicki recorded Pink Friday, Lil Wayne was in jail the whole time. Maybe now it’s like Wayne being round is makin her new album wack!
February 13th, 2012 at 7:25 am
Nicki can still get the blog comments rolling.
February 13th, 2012 at 7:36 am
straight garbage. When fans stop being accepting of trash artists and trash performances the trash will cease to exist. She is an embarrassment to music
February 13th, 2012 at 7:39 am
The performance was garbage first and foremost… She did indeed reach and she fell. The song was horrible, the performance was like a bad play/musical on stage.
Walking around with a Priest was somewhat offensive as it came off as disrespectful to religion. Keep in mind whats going on at the Vatican currently.
Overall Nicki is not a lyricist, I will allow that she is more of an entertainer but that is not talent in all cases. YMCMB garnered no awards at the show. Wayne took another blatant shot at Jay & Kanye this weekend and signed Christiana Milian for reasons unknown.
Factually this was our (meaning hip hop’s) only representation in a performance. This is not hip hop and what we as a core culture want representing us. Thats important to note…
Hats off to the real Hip Hop representative LL Cool J who did an amazing job hosting the Grammy’s. I was surprised and very happy to see his growth. That’s Hip Hop
February 13th, 2012 at 7:55 am
Perhaps the worst performance in grammy hiphop history… what a fucking joke and disgrace…I could care less bout the catholic stuff musically and performance wise it was terrible…
February 13th, 2012 at 8:17 am
She is the victim of poor management and if she don’t cash in …change careers (acting ) and form another “team” ….this will get worst. There is plenty of good hip hop out here..people have
This non subtance performance is a small fraction of the culture . Dear Minaji get your life n music in order ….clean house ..u can do better!!!
February 13th, 2012 at 8:24 am
No body notice how she just ripped off lady gaga’s whole style. and lady gaga gets joked at for it, now imagine nicki, coming from the hood, and a black women, trying to jump on that white, pop, dick riding wagon like waynes little skate board ass.hiphop is about the urban culture, not this cracker, ghost, demon shit. wtf. she wont be around for long, as well as them young money dummies. gongrats to ”Watch The Thrown”.
February 13th, 2012 at 8:34 am
Are you guys really giving this set a thumbs up because this chic spit on her back??
My opinion is based completely on viewing this from a Hip Hop perspective and in my personal opinion, this is NOT Hip Hop. You can label this as ‘unique’, ‘original’ or whatever, and maybe it is. Basically it’s a play for some crossover appeal. She better hope Hip Hop embraces her once she tries to come back. At the end of the day Nikki still isn’t anywhere in the top great female emcees. All of YMCMB could fall off and not too many people would be mad about it. People can and will talk about this ‘performance’ for a while, but not all press is good press.
February 13th, 2012 at 8:49 am
I dont understand what people mean when the say innovative for hiphop.
Are we forgetting that Missy Elliot was innovative without looking like a complete fool.
Just because something is different does not mean its good. Because now a days being different is the new “Being like everyone else”
February 13th, 2012 at 8:58 am
It was nothing unprecedented about that performance. To Jonelle, many Hip Hop acts has pushed the bar as far as theatrical performances ..Eminem,Missy Elliot,Kanye West,etc.. I can see this performance happening at the MTV Video Music Awards.. But at the Grammys?… The Grammys are usually career defining moments. These performance can boost your career to new heights or kill off your buzz and career in whole. All in all it wasnt a good look. I actually think ppl try to root for her, because she has talent, but it seems like her musical decisions are making ppl give up on her and actually be totally disgusted from her. I even think last night her new demographic of fans (young white girls) might even have been turned off from it. But to each is own,im sure somebody liked her besides herself. She wasting her talent I think.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:04 am
Quick question, how is the YMCMB Signing of Christina Milian taking a shot at Jay & Ye’… If anything I thought it was taking a shot at The-Dream since they both have the same Baby Mother (Nivea) and now Wanye signs his other BM…. Everyyhing else I agree with 100% tho.. Jus a Lil confused on that statement
February 13th, 2012 at 9:11 am
Meanwhile, Jean Grae toils away somewhere in relative obscurity. This performance is prob good for Minaj (all pub is good pub…etc) but female MCs can’t win when the “standard bearer” does stuff like this. If its about accents, and prerecorded videos, and shock value, it will never be about lyrics and content.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:21 am
Nikki is trying to bring her acting into her performances and it is not working. Whoever told her that performance was a good idea (management?) should be fired. I have to agree with most, that it was just bad performance overall. Exorcism on the Grammy’s? Nikki you are not Madonna, Brittney, or Gaga….play your role.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:28 am
Take a look around the net the video is out there. Wayne references Drake making him rich and presents a plaque for his sales. Then shows his plaque with 3.6 million sales of his album. He ends with a quick line about some chick, taking her home and her not wanting to watch the throne. Its a direct shot at Jay & Ye sorry for the lack of info.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:45 am
The best part of her performance was Drake introducing her. If you want to push the envelope by all means but it didn’t make sense!
Miss Info- I agree that she should’ve performed a song we’re all familiar with- possibly one that got her the nom?
The performance was a hot mess. She’s said it before that it kills her that people don’t think she’s a solid live performer but she doesn’t learn.
Is she a rapper or a teenie bopper? I haven’t heard her rap in a minute. I’m all for multi-dimensional artists but don’t come out claiming your better than Lil’ Kim when Lil’ Kim owned her genre when you’re all over.
I loved Nicki- the one who was on Monster and owned the song, the one who rapped with Eminem and held her own. This?! WTF is this?!
She’s trying too hard and is failing. Maybe she should take a trip to her stoop and rekindle her love with rap.
February 13th, 2012 at 9:50 am
Only reason she gained more followers is because people want to see what she has to say for herself after that BS
February 13th, 2012 at 10:03 am
I’d like to see what Vigilant Citizen makes of this…
February 13th, 2012 at 10:06 am
Being that this is the 46th comment no one will probably read it but, I agree with Miss Info sentiments. The song should’ve been released about a month ago so people could familiarize themselves with it. I’ve always felt hip hop is harder to do live because the people can’t grasp the music the same. When you debut a rap song live your better off doing it a cappella and letting the people hear the lyrics. When you have the artist putting on a show and the beat in the background the lyrics take a back seat and since there are no impressive vocals in rhyming then it’s a lot harder to feel.
February 13th, 2012 at 11:48 am
Wow. Nicki really is a prime example of everything that’s wrong with music these days. Such lack of character.
February 13th, 2012 at 11:49 am
you’re ashamed to be a Christian? If should drop to your knees and ask for forgiveness right now for that statement!!! anyone ashamed of being a Christian needs to repent.
February 13th, 2012 at 11:55 am
Snoop was spittin murder was the case on his back at the Mtv awards and he was really on trial for murder
February 13th, 2012 at 1:13 pm
J_Tremain – Question: What IS Hip-Hop to you? Is it spitting about gangsters, violence, bitches, drugs, and the streets? Honestly, I think Hip-Hop has different interpretations for different people based on their demographics. I mean, we have paying ALL AROUND the world (UK, Latin America, Australia, Asia, Middle East, etc) rapping and loving Hip-Hop. They are rapping in their respective languages with their interpretations of what Hip-Hop is to them. A rapper in Louisiana and a rapper in California will not have the same style or lyrical context. Same goes for a rapper in New York or Michigan.
With that said, people are still talking about this performance and Nicki Minaj. She is trending on Twitter and Facebook. You are correct that not all press is good press, but this is the case in all things in life. I have to say, however, that all publicity is good publicity in the long run. It creates notoriety, exposure, and awareness.
Fact: Nicki Minaj, or any Hip-Hop artist is going to get hate either way. There are still a substantial number of people out there that don’t consider Hip-Hop/Rap actual MUSIC. They say things like, “Rap is not music” or “John Lennon would be rolling in his grave if this is considered singing”, etc.
Anyways, yesterday was my first time on Miss Info’s website. I wanted to watch Nicki’s performance again and this website was brought up in one of the tweets with the hash tag #NickiMinaj. That alone is a testament that Nicki Minaj is doing something in the game (whether that is good or bad is your interpretation).
I watched the performance again today and I’m still impressed. Like Miss Info, I wish Nicki had used this platform (Grammys’) to release a new single that might have had more mainstream appeal. I think she was looking to do something more dramatic and well, she succeeded in my opinion. What I’m going to do now is listen to the actual song “Roman Holiday” and listen to the lyrics. Lyrically is the song good? I’m honestly not 100% sure because I was (and still am) slightly distracted by the theatrics and everything that is going on in the performance. I want to listen to the song for it’s value and see if lyrically, Nicki Minaj is delivering to the plate.
In regards to the comparisons of Nicki to past, present, and future emcees — well, again, it’s up to personal taste. What appeals to me most about Nicki Minaj is her creativity and lyrical cleverness. The things that come out of her mouth is really clever and amazing to me at times (the equivalence of Drake — he amazes me as well). I appreciate her talent (yes, I definitely feel she is talented) and I hope she is able to pull through with material that will have mainstream appeal. You can’t survive in this game without appealing to the masses. “The Throne” or “Young Money” would not be as popular as they are today if they were unable to appeal to people of all demographics, colors, religions, sexual orientations, etc.
BK718 — Snoop was not floating in the air for that performance.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:43 pm
fuck nici minaj, bitch fell off hard body. only little girls be buying her albums. not no real people.
February 13th, 2012 at 1:50 pm
I’m not giving it a pass but I am giving her points for trying to have more than a basic rap career… Now she is opening the door for white girls which is good in a way but it also means the FUCKING END OF HIP HOP, sure!!
I think her biggest fail is the fact that she doesnt know what she wants to be.. Actress, rapper, fashion thing on Broadway, whatever… I hope she finds the path she wants to go down because right now shes just setting herself up to be an industry whore for giigs like big movies etc and while she will become an icon that way she will also lose her soul in the process…
February 13th, 2012 at 2:14 pm
“I can’t wait for the next song in the Roman series” – Nobody.
February 13th, 2012 at 3:39 pm
i hope lady gaga drops a diss song called ” bitch stole my swagg “
February 13th, 2012 at 4:11 pm
Somehow I have the lingering feeling that it will not be long before this chick has a breakdown, Brittney Spears style. I really think that the people pushing and pulling this little Queens NY hood chick into these various personas will eventually dismiss her when her income drops and she will see what she has become at the expense of ‘handlers’. I don’t think it’s gonna be pretty when she falls. Hope she can find a way to hold her head.
February 13th, 2012 at 4:20 pm
Cool performance. Didn’t really feel the song but i’ll check it out when the cdq version releases. I guess people don’t really understand where she is going with her music and how it involves her alter ego and that’s why they’re hating so hard on her but i get it. Not a big fan of Nicki but she’s doing her thing. Thanks for the post Info
February 13th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Thank you. Do people even listen to music anymore? This was expensive trash to be real.
February 13th, 2012 at 5:02 pm
she can perform, i’ll give her that but she’s no musical talent or gifted artist. she likes to shock cuz that’s all she’s probably got…
February 13th, 2012 at 5:39 pm
The REAL issue here is not with religion, the history of hip-hop, or gender identification but why do grown people think it’s cool to have alter egos?!?! Only superheroes in comic books should have alter egos.

Miss Info et al — Just wanted to let everyone know that the song choice “Roman Holiday” was chosen not by Nicki, but by the Grammys’ producers themselves. They chose “Roman Holiday” for the Grammys’. Ryan Seacrest interviewed Nicki Minaj today and the revelation was made.
P.S. Earlier I remarked that Nicki Minaj had a increase of 3,000+ followers on Twitter post-Grammys’ performance — well, make that 31,000+ now. That’s not even including myself, because I do not own a Twitter account. I just like to read tweets.

Performance was wack and disrespectful to the catholic and christian community..
Honestly what I think is funny is that every song she has released for her sophomore album has sucked and nobody is feeling it… Once her lack of position on the charts becomes clear to her label maybe they will release a hip hop record which Nicki actually spits on.
I don’t get how her management doesn’t realize that she is losing her core fanbase when she does this crap. Or is it enough to just abandon your hip hop fanbase for the gay’s and the barb’s? *smh* she is definitely wasting her talent with this bullshit she is putting out.

Apparently Everybody’s paying attention to the wrong shit.
This aint about christian, catholic, jew, gentile, or fake pope at an awards show.
This is about music, rapping and Acting!
Everybody’s getting the cookies and the crumbs confused.
This Roman shit is EXTRA straight up!! A wack alter ego that is a part of your alter ego. Which is actually really wacker than your own rap skills.
AND HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU HARMONIZING IN BETWEEN THESE WACK ASS BARS WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ABOUT!!!???
THE MENTAL STATE OF THE PERPETRATOR IS ALWAYS TO BE QUESTIONABLE.
BITCH IS BONKERS!!! LOONEY!!!

Nikki’s performance was wack. I was really disappointed. I think that she is a talented emcee, but she is focusing more on becoming a character than actually delivering a message with her music. I take my hat off to the Adeles of the world that let their music speak for itself without dressing up like a clown and presenting something somewhat based in reality. Being a performer is one thing, but it seems that Nikki only cares about being talked about and not about her music.

To all you 13-18 year olds saying that her perfomance was original and great, take advantage of youtube and do you homework. Janet Jackson, Madonna and even Lady Gaga have done this time and time again. Her performance was completely recycled and unoriginal.
I beleive kanye said it best-“when you try hard, you die hard.”
