A lot of imitators out there and for Diggy Simmons’ latest video he takes it to the laboratory and disspels any biters in “Copy, Paste”. For the first single off Diggy’s untitled debut album, the 16-year-old turns to director Phil the God to get his message across visually.
Props to Rap-Up

First off that lil nigga aint from Queens he from a mega mansion in Alpine New Jersey hahahah
With that being said I actually like this cut and his presentation.. He’s a good looking kid who is getting his drake on and doing a little dancing trying to get his Dougie Fresh on, cant really be mad at that at all…… The need to restrict that dancing to a little less boy band type shhit and more “I’m Fly” type shit, whatever that is…Overall I want to see the kid win..

I like diggy I think hes being himself. I don’t let the aura of his father or being he was well privileged effect my ears, i try to give him a fair listen. Hes getting better as he grows and experience more out of life hell rhyme about more conceptual things of course.

Agree w/the first comment that he’s not from Queens. That was the first thing that popped in my head. He’s a suburban kid and he doesn’t need to call out a city he’s not from for validation. Jojo can though LOL.
The song and video are cool. I’m glad he’s doing something with his talents. I just hate the fact that there are going to be a bunch of young rappers coming out that are going to bite his style.

ahahahah, there was really no need to say Queens.

I do not feel comfortable listening to this music. Personally, I don’t feel like investing time in this kid’s music. I just don’t have the energy for it. I think he is a good kid and all. And he is borderline talented, unlike his hackish brother. I just don’t think he is far along from his optimum potential. I just don’t see that much room for growth here. He can because better at rapping, but I just don’t think his subject matter is going to improve much. In my opinion, Subject matter, story line, and unique style is what makes artist stick.
I much rather have him, Rap about him being born with a silver spoon in him mouth, how his family has more connections than his “competition”, how he doesn’t have to work a day in his life if he chooses not to, etc. I think that would be real and refreshing. At one point him running away from his fortunate background would become counter productive.
I would love it if he did that. It shouldn’t even matter, 99.99% rapper rap about the wealth they don’t have OR pretend they will have. Why would i get mad at the kid that has it and does it. Isn’t about “keepin’ it real” I think its about he should.

Watching this is like being in the a record executive meeting where they agree to copy Drake and Chris Brown and paste on Diggy.

a i mean you dont have to grow up poor or be from the hood to make music, even if the music was started by ppl from the hood, but at end of the day everything was made from someone with nothing.,

First off this kid is a pretty decent rapper and as his perspective gets broader so will his content..
Lets be clear, everyone who is somebody or has ever did anything in this world has come from a big connected family or some powerful connections I aint about to kick a black kid down because he’s getting ahead the same way other races have done it for hundreds of years…
Research Skull and Bones Or The NBA Coaches and GM connections how they make sure only a select group get those jobs, Or Coby Karl, Luke Walton stats, The Bush Family, Freemasons or in the TV world most of your favorite TV stars are Legacy hires meaning DEEP FAMILY connections or being jewish got them in and Research Jermain Dupri family background and Jazzi Pha!
The trick is making us think that x person is really a regular guy like the working class super rich Kennedy’s! So yeah… I aint hating on his money even though I hate his goofy ass father…

Thanks for the comment. I really enjoy the discussion.
1) Well, I do believe I gave the kid some credit for being a decent rapper. That’s what borderline talented means. Not Okay, not good, not great, not the best ever.
2) I’m not knocking the fact that he has gotten ahead so far in his career because of his family connections. I just want him to embrace it and talk about it, i want him to channel that energy. Modern hip hop is mostly about bragging. I understand there are exceptions, but bragging is a huge part of it, right or wrong. That’s not for me to judge.
3) I don’t need to research the Bones or any such like club. I’m very aware of that history not only in America, but also I can put it in a global and historical perspective. But I know what you mean.
4) I do not subscribe to the fact that “anyone that has achieve anything in life has done it because of family connections”. There are plenty of people out there that come from noting (like me) and have achieve success. I know the definition of success is subjective, but I know what you mean, I only hope you know what I mean.
I know for personal experience. My mentor grew up in Newark NJ and Irvington NJ. Today he is a very influential manager at one of the tri-state’s area biggest accounting firms. He came from nothing, he started literally in the mail room. He worked hard. Having connection helps, but at the end of the day you have to perform. PERFORM or PERISH, Is my motto. I personally know Kids that went to community college and state college that have outworked and beaten Ivy Leaguers on Jobs.
But you are right. At the end of the day it’s all about personality. I guess, that’s my point at the end. If he portraits who he really is. He would come on a genuine and cool.
Thanks for commenting on my comment again. I found some of you points intriguing. TYYL, I guess.

Much respect for everything you said… And you right there is a hand full of folks that get ahead on they own grind but to be honest the american dream is just another fantasy product like Disney world that has been sold to the working class in order to keep them working….
But I’m sure we could go all day on this shit funny thing is I’m newark and irvington all day hahah we prolly know each other hahah

Ever since I heard Diggy rap over “Made You Look”, I knew this kid was tight. His first mixtape was good, as well as the one by Dj Premier, and he doesn;t dissapoint with his first single. I don’t care what age you are. Good music is good music. I know this probably isn’t for everybody, but the mainstream needs some good stuff too. Not everyone can appreciate the Roc Marciano’s of the world.
