“I hate a actor that plays a rapper”-Big Pun
But I will go as far to say this I like this song.Drake has mastered the singing/rapping composition while keeping it in perspective.Mind you I don’t approve this as the first single I’ve heard way better production from 40.

Are you fucking serious?
July 31st, 2011 at 1:21 am
The hook is lackluster but the rhymes are crazy
July 31st, 2011 at 1:32 am
Thanks for loading the song up. Personally I enjoyed this song but your right he could have done better.
July 31st, 2011 at 1:34 am
more of that fake rap.
to be fair, Drake rhymes better than most in the fake rap department. Something about this song feels a lil weak though, even for Drake fans. especially compared to “I’m On One”
July 31st, 2011 at 1:35 am
This is a good song. Stop hating!
July 31st, 2011 at 1:47 am
What exactly is “real rap”, then?
July 31st, 2011 at 1:53 am
How the hell is this fake rap? Go grab a pen and some paper, listen again and take notes suckas
July 31st, 2011 at 2:10 am
I did think the hook was pretty weak, ESPECIALLY for a Drake song. Other than that, I thought it was pretty dope. Though I wish Drake would just straight rap again sometimes (not the whole sing songy thing.)

I heard theres spyware here..Im too scared to be in here
but I will still anyway say my name to Miss Info

I think this song decent, it could be much better. It don’t got the same energy Boi-1da bring in his beats for Drake but Drake swag it out as he always do. Maybe a new mix on drums could make it hotter idk. Fairly decent but not a big single everyone would expect.
July 31st, 2011 at 5:38 am
serious about what? me being a drake fan of me thinking it was weak on first listen (i said i had to listen again mainly cuz my baby was screaming in my ear lol) its cool upon further review, dont like hook tho
July 31st, 2011 at 5:41 am
is it me or do most rappers ‘sing’ now? smh i mean at first i didnt mind drake when he does it, it was pretty god….now its getting kinda old
July 31st, 2011 at 8:34 am
Chorus is a lil shorty lo-ish. No?
July 31st, 2011 at 9:04 am
I like the song. Unfortunately, it wont pop because as the RZA said: “the dumb follow the drum.” Its has no bassline which the overwhelming majority need to feel a song since lyrics are so 1995 for you (late) 80s babies.
July 31st, 2011 at 9:08 am
This is HEAVY!!!
Drakes flow on this is stupid hot, lyrics second to none, and the hook is simple but catchy as a motherfucker!
You know this is gonna be bumpin’ in clubs
July 31st, 2011 at 10:02 am
Not big on drake but the verses was surprisingly good the hook is trash though and thats his strong point hooks so i guess im still not big on Drake lol just cant relate to rich kids rapping its too weird….
July 31st, 2011 at 11:21 am
I remember this site when “Over” dropped and everyone was extremely underwhelmed (except Miss Info) and it ended up being alright for him. I think this will be the same despite the hook. They know, they know, they know…wtf? I’m surprised at Drake, hooks are his specialty.
The beat is hot and the rhymes are good. *kanye shrug*
July 31st, 2011 at 11:22 am
The general consensus seems to be that this song (hook) is weak, and I completely agree.
July 31st, 2011 at 11:32 am
Like it a lot… take care is off to a good start imo.
July 31st, 2011 at 12:30 pm
Real rap is anything that’s not on the radio with the exception of a few hours once in awhile when the radio lets DJ’s spin new stuff that’s not on their usual playlist consisting of the same 10 artists.
July 31st, 2011 at 1:13 pm
whoever told him he fell-off is right.
July 31st, 2011 at 1:32 pm
nah it’s not just you. It seems every rapper has that same singy flow now. Ja Rule is somewhere pissed right now lol.
July 31st, 2011 at 1:39 pm
This ish Bangs! All hating aside, production and verses are solid! “I’m just feeling like the Throne is for the taking, watch me take it!” – Drake –
July 31st, 2011 at 2:06 pm
the song is nyce
July 31st, 2011 at 2:17 pm
real rap is hip hop. The stuff that lasts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVYwcXMyLEs
not this “I’m wondering if I should bang these models because they don’t care about me/but all I care about is money while I pose for the camera in a studio” emo fake shit. We’re in a recession folks!
and to be honest, I don’t even mind so much that these mainstream rappers are talking about dumb shit. I love 80s/90s hip hop and alot of the 90s stuff was gangsta influenced.
But the WAY they did it was crucial! They made sure their lines were incredible and the beats were memorable. In short, rap used to be deep. It used to be about people living real life. Or “Top Billin” like – fun and special.
But now, Hip hop’s gotten lazy. Weak beats, totally offbeat flows and stale lines. Underground too. They fall back on ‘we the real rap’ narrative and make tons of mediocre shit instead of stepping their game up and making great music.

i think theirs 4 dif type of rap songs, one type is where ppl just spit fire not for the clubs only played at nite hardley played on radio, two is for the clubs for ppl to dance too.3 is for girls that usually dont listein to rap but try too bring em in with love songs.4 is dudes that try to get everyone to listen like how eminem and jay z does.but tru talent is when u can get everyone in and out to box to pump your shyt.its like being a chef u gotta make food for all dif types of taste, but i also respect the ones that spit what they feel and still have everyone draw in like how nas and wu tang does.some do it for the money some do it for the love and some do it for the love and money.dude ghostface said he dident make nothing off iron mans album he did it for the ppl after all the samples left him with nothing i was like wow everyones dif.
July 31st, 2011 at 2:29 pm
emo rappers
July 31st, 2011 at 2:40 pm
For some reason I like almost everything this kid does and trust me I’m the biggest fuckin hater in the world I tried to hate on this kid but I like his seletions.. If he stays in this lane and doesnt try to become a thug he will have a very long career doing basiccally what R.Kelly has been doing since 89 whih is trying to rap and sing while making us all love it… Not a bad think at all…
July 31st, 2011 at 4:11 pm
This is hard.. i love it.
July 31st, 2011 at 5:19 pm
you’re right
July 31st, 2011 at 6:27 pm
I like it better after a few listens jus not fan of the hook.
July 31st, 2011 at 6:52 pm
Its a good song… I cant completely hate it but it just has a mixtape feel more so than an album feel. Drake really wants to make records thats going to bang in club… Compared to the stuff Hov an Ye are putting out this is subpar…
July 31st, 2011 at 6:53 pm
Drake’s songs are always good. I’ve never heard a bad Drake song
July 31st, 2011 at 7:39 pm
People kill me with this whole “real rap” thing. The majority of the people who troll around on these rap blogs denouncing everything mainstream, are usually the people who say Eminem and Slaughterhouse is real rap. But if you listen to Em, he is mostly rapping about nothing. Or personal problems. Just like about 90% of all the other rappers. Bottom line is rap is just that, “rap”, or just talking about shit. If you like what a certain artist is talking about, great, but if you don’t, don’t denounce an artist by saying they make “fake” music. You can’t say what Drake is rapping about isn’t real, because it’s probably real to him.
July 31st, 2011 at 7:48 pm
mediocre..sounds like a filler … but cortez is going work this song ..eventually it would b all over radio…
July 31st, 2011 at 10:34 pm
Agreed – mediocre. It’s gonna be all over radio b/c Young Money/Cash Money got all the radio stations on lock…
July 31st, 2011 at 11:55 pm
@Da Jenius,
it aint even real to Drake. If it was, it’d sound different. That’s my point. When people are trying to be ‘real’, their music becomes more insightful, more poetic/or blunt and less posery.
In a way, Drake is the worst kind of rapper – the poser with faux depth. He’s a shill for corporate pop but pretends like there’s a deeper meaning/emotion behind his sh*t but never really goes into any detail about himself or what he’s actually about.
Drake was born with a silver spoon. He’s had connects in music through family. He lived in one of the wealthiest parts of Toronto. He had a TV show gig that translated into music.
Normally, this means he should be nowhere near a mic because he has no ‘struggle’ in the traditional sense.
BUT a person like Drake would have been intriguing IF he actually was a real cat. What are the struggles of an upper class person? And I’m not talking about ‘made for TV/pop consumption invented bullshit’. I’m talking about actual struggles. I have no idea because we never hear about this shit. We only hear what the upper class want us to hear! The sexified, you-wanna-be-like-us version. Otherwise, there’s a huge shroud of privacy. Upper class people can find out how you live; you can’t find out how an upper class person lives.
If Drake actually went into some kinda depth of who he is, the importance of Judaism to him, his upper-class struggles (and not dumb shit like banging models) but real shit like maybe legacy, trying to put on an image to sell to the masses but clashing with the ideas, a world of hidden favors where you can’t step on anyone’s toes, etc.
My point is that all the great rappers brought us into their world. Even if they were rapping about gangsta shit, they made you understand why they did it and gave an elaborate drawing of their total world in the hood.
You think you know shit about Drake’s world but you really don’t have a clue. And Drake aint telling you. Either because he aint talented enough to make it interesting and visual or he doesn’t want to tell you. That’s why I consider dude fake.
Aside from that, I get what you’re saying about cats who talk about ‘real rap’ then dickride Slaughterhouse & Eminem and/or some underground artist. Trust me I aint the one. Em’s pretty mediocre to me outside of a couple songs. and I don’t f*ck with boring Slaugherhouse.
I’m not really picky on what people say but it’s how they say it and why. That’s how i differentiate who’s wack or not. So a person could be talking world peace, but if he can’t rhyme to save his life (K’Naan), I aint fucking with him.
August 1st, 2011 at 2:00 am
no ones gonna read all of that lol
August 1st, 2011 at 10:17 am
Phuckk the upper class struggles, I think the only one who comes close is Eminem. The reason he sells so much is because the middle class (what’s left of it) can relate to most of the stuff he spits. Whether it be that rihanna song he did, not afraid, addiction songs. A lot of the middle class and suburbs can relate to that. Kids from the burbs are more into prescription pills and see domestic violence but its not really brought to peoples attention. It can be hidden by money and therapists the same way the upper class paints the picture of how we should portray them. NOTE TO RAPPERS: If you want to sell stop rapping about money, chains, rims, and making it rain on the h*#s…. we are in a depression and its the last thing people want to hear when they are struggling to survive. Rap about life and struggles, people will realate, and you will sell.
August 1st, 2011 at 10:32 am
i think rappers are just getting wise to the commercial appeal of an infectious melody. and rappers be steady tryna cross over (i aint mad). they no that a sorority chic wont remember half the crap he say but she’ll damn sure remember a catchy or annoying hook that sticks in your head with no effort from the listener. yes music is an art but it’s also a science.
August 1st, 2011 at 10:37 am
don’t u mean masta killa “the dumb are mostly intrigued by the drum”?
August 1st, 2011 at 1:08 pm
WU was warning us about this years ago…..
August 1st, 2011 at 2:38 pm
well put. I did read it and it made alot of sense.I believe a persons first album should be their introduction to the world. With the pop culture and hip hop genre being under the microscope scrutiny of the internet I don’t think he ever had a chance to introduce himself. Artist development is in fast-forward because of the internet. But I will agree with you about this part :if you’re going to become a staple in music you have to express your persona and market yourself as a brand. What exactly is the drake brand?
August 1st, 2011 at 10:50 pm
@Truf.com My whole point is, Drake is probably banging models on the regular, getting a lot of money, and is struggling with his new life as a star. You can’t say that he should rapping about being a Jew (WTF?) because that’s probably not something he wants to rap about. Bottom line, if you think Drake is so fake, why even click on the link? I don’t like Soulja Boy or Lil B, so I don’t take the time to comment on their posts because they don’t interest me. It’s simple.
August 3rd, 2011 at 1:33 pm
its pretty weak. He can do way better.
August 14th, 2011 at 11:10 am
THey know…THey know!!!!
October 28th, 2011 at 8:23 am
Seriously..haters, stop hating. This is one of Drake’s really amazing songs and I think it’s pretty damn good. His raps and lines actually flow and make sense, he doesn’t say stuff to just rhyme and throw it on a good beat. It’s not weak at all, so f*ck all of you.
