I’m excited about this year’s VH1 2010 Hip Hop Honors event because its a tribute to the Dirty South, but now I’m happy to announce that the MissInfo.tv family will team up with Vh1 and Complex as an official 2010 Hip Hop Honors web partner!
So far, here’s what I can tell you:
This year’s host: Craig Robinson (The Office, Hot Tub Time Machine, Eastbound and Down).
The honorees, so far, are: J. Prince of Rap-A-Lot Records, Jermaine Dupri, Luther “Luke” Campbell and The 2 Live Crew, Master P of No Limit Records, and the Organized Noize family.
And the first round of confirmed performers will be: Pitbull, Paul Wall, T-Pain, Lil Jon, Trina, Bun B., and more…
Awwwready! Read the Vh1/Complex/MissInfo details….Also see a current 2010 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South promo….and watch a hilarious clip of the new host Craig Robinson….all after the jump…
From VH1’s May 10, 2010 Press Release:
VH1.com’s HipHop.VH1.com, Complex.com and MissInfo.tv have created an exclusive online content partnership for VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2010. The three sites will feature the event leading up to, during and following the June 7 telecast in their own distinct way with artist interviews, show news and editorial features focused on this year’s honorees and performers. Select content created by each site will be shared among the three sites and will be offered through a main content feed on HipHop.VH1.com. Additionally, Miss Info will be the official VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2010 backstage host for online video interviews from the event. She will also be the video host for the VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2010 live viewing party on HipHop.VH1.com, Complex.com and MissInfo.tv during the premiere of the show.
Now if you’re not familiar with the new host, Craig Robinson, you probably know him by face, he’s been absolutely high-larious in everything from “The Office” (the stockroom manager), The Hangover (the club doorman), Hot Tub Time Machine, “Eastbound and Down” (Reg Mackworthy) and more. You have to watch this hilarious “Eastbound” clip of Craig, Will Ferrell and Danny McBride (Kenny F–king Powers)…
And here is one of the cornmeal-crusted promos for the 2010 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South show….
UPDATE: oh, CaughtintheWeb found the priceless Craig Robinson clip from Knocked Up…..love this!

how in the hell you honor the south without honoring Wayne.
May 10th, 2010 at 11:58 am
um….have you ever watched this show? they honor the pioneers and include current artists in the tributes.
(another reason why I hate blind idolatry)

VH1 is for the lame and elderly…

LOL. @ MissInfo’s reply to Claude. So true.. Weezy’s good (usually), but he’s got to spawn some hip hop offspring if he wants to be considered pioneering. I can see Jay’s swag in him, maybe in 5 years ago, we’ll see his in someone. So far, Reginae’s been it.
May 10th, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Who cares? All south rappers are WACK except Scarface and maybe Bun B. Fuck um
May 10th, 2010 at 4:42 pm
lmao
May 10th, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Bouncer in “Knocked Up”, not “The Hangover” but I see you workin. Funny dude.
May 10th, 2010 at 4:50 pm
let Weezy get a 2nd classic album before we start to honor him as legendary. Until then, I think the Grammy’s, BET Awards, etc. are his wheelhouse.
May 10th, 2010 at 4:52 pm
forgive him, he’s just now being allowed to watch cable t.v. & may only know who jermaine dupri is from his lil bow wow posters
Him no know no better!

It kills me when folks say “ALL south rappers are wack.” Really? Really? “ALL”, really? Like the south ain’t put out nobody but Lil’ Wayne and Soulja Boy. Know your hip-hop history. The south has put out a lot of artists over the history of rap. Some of the most creative and gifted acts in rap came from the dirty:
– Outkast
– Goodie Mob
– Eightball & MJG
– Geto Boys
– and countless other groups that never even got shine.
Not to mention your favorite rappers out today:
– The Clipse
– Jay Electronica
– J. Cole
– Little Brother (& 9th wonder)
You know why that is? Because cats in the south grew up listening to EVERYTHING! You never hear the south dissing New York! You don’t hear the south going at the west coast… yet everybody got something to say about the south. Truth be told the south saved hip-hop.
But how quickly we forget. So dead that noise already. You’re just playin’ yourself.

May 12th, 2010 at 8:29 am
The Clipse are not from the south. They are from the Bronx, rep VA and are East coast artist.
I think J.Cole calls himself an east coast artist also.
LoL@R. Poole saying the south saved hip hop. Some of the worst years in hip hop history was under the south and I’m southern.

Actually Scarface is boycotting it.
Read about it at Nah Right:
