For the first episode of Food Grails, my new show with the good folks at First We Feast, we went out to South L.A., Compton, Watts and Leimert Park to meet the new wave of hood entrepreneurs. Many are former hustlers or gang members who are now making their own Americanized version of the Mexican food that everyone in L.A. grows up on. These guys are social media stars and favorites of the local hip-hop artists (like Jay 305 and Casey Veggies) that relate to their struggle.
