Miss Info Exclusive: Joell Ortiz speaks on his Aftermath
Posted by Miss Info under Exclusives , Good For Hip Hop , Videos[17] Comments
Another “Inside the Rapper’s Studio with Miss Info“* featuring the jovial and always interesting Joell Ortiz.
Directed by Rik Cordero/Three21Media.
Joell clears any confusion about his release from Aftermath Records, he addresses rumors that he was dropped, the Bishop Lamont comments, and his next move….
Joell also told me that he is still on great terms with Dre, and has already started writing for Dre on the Detox album…..The video version of that part of the interview will be up soon.
(*uh, we were not in an actual studio. In fact, this series has yet to shoot in a single studio. Seedy Staten Island motels on the other hand? Yes.)

damn that’s all he had going for him really was the aftermath shit. and lol @ all these rappers getting dropped and trying to play it off as a “good thing” Slay said the same shit when pap got dropped from Jive. I wish the best of luck to Ortiz- dude is nice they just gotta figure out a way to market dude.

Joell = the truth. When’s the mixtape dropping? He’s killed too many beats, I mean seriously, he’s a problem! Nice short interview that got to the point, its good to see he’s ready and willing to put that work in. Some of my fav artists right now = free, joey, saigon, papoose and this cat. And three haven’t got an album out!

maybe you & Rik could do official press junkets for former entourage members-ternt-rappaz at said locations. You might could lend some credibility to what they say, just by virtue of the fact that some of you hip-hop journalists are more intelligenter than these dumb fuck weed-carriers anyhow.
nah. on second thought, you’d make them look more stupider…

Only way to market J. ortiz is to build a time machine and go back to 1995….sorry to say it but we gonna have to ride this wave of nonsense out for maybe another 2 years b4 lyrics start to matter again.

i feel like the same thing thats so incredible about dre is the same thing that holds him back!he’s such a perfectionist that it takes him years to get an album out or an artist out.atists start to feel left out and shit and start to wanna leave but when he comes with an album he changes hip hop forever.

I am a huge J. Ortiz fan. I was at Element this past weekend and he was in there just chillin and I asked him what now and he was like just look out for the mixtape. I said will I hear those Dre beats on it. He never said it would but the look I got made me think it will. I mean its hard that a nice lyrical MC doesn’t get the shine he should get, unless he got a dance with their music or a club banger or got a gimmic or used as a sex symbol. I’m sorry but I blame the main stream business people that give artist side deals to mention their products in their rhymes. I mean now a days when I hear a rapper talk about a car or a clothing line or jewlery company I think they are getting paid to say it. HOLD YOUR HEAD J.ORTIZ YOUR LIGHT WILL SHINE NO MATTER WHAT!!
