Meet the Producers Behind Kendrick Lamar’s ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’
Posted by Andy B. under Documentaries , VideosNo Comments

In this new documentary called Out the Cocoon, REVOLT TV sits down with some of the key producers and engineers involved with Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly to talk about the inspirations, conversations and studio sessions behind what everyone is already calling Album of the Year.
Longtime TDE collaborators Terrace Martin, Sounwave, Tae Beast and MixedByAli share their unique insight into the tight-knit and “spontaneous” recording sessions that were largely done on the road, how his trip to South Africa gave Kendrick a whole new perspective and ultimately shaped the album, and what kind of impact he wanted the project to make.
“It actually started at the end of good kid, m.A.A.d city,” says Terrace Martin. “We hadn’t started the record physically, it was just starting the thought process of a: to do something that will help put a band aid on the things that have been going on in our communities. And b: to do something legendary.”
