Marvel’s Hip-Hop Album Covers are Being Compiled Into a Free Comic

As you may have noticed, Marvel have been slowly flooding the Internet over the last few months with comic book-inspired reinterpretations of classic rap album covers from the likes of Biggie, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, The Roots and 50 Cent. Now, Marvel are bringing a selection of 14 covers to life in a free 32-page comic book, hitting participating stores on January 6.

“The hip-hop variants were a really special initiative that caught fire in the outside world,” Axel Alonso, the editor in chief of Marvel, told The New York Times. “We thought this was a great opportunity to highlight that and make it available to fans for free.”
No word on which covers will be included in the comic, but with 55 (and counting) to choose from, they can’t go wrong. Check out a few of our favorite remakes below, and marvel (no pun intended) at the full selection here.
