lil wayne 2015

While A$AP Rocky delivered a lecture in London yesterday, Red Bull Music Academy caught up with Lil Wayne at the Red Bull Guest House 2015 in his adopted home of Miami. Although his $51 million lawsuit against Cash Money, which was recently re-filed in New Orleans, didn’t come up in the conversation, Weezy did talk about his growth as an artist, not knowing what “truffle butter” means (“I thought truffle butter was something you put on steak or food”) and reuniting with Mannie Fresh, who produced the intro on Tha Carter V.

Wayne also teased a new song he recorded with DJ Mustard, which he feels especially confident about: “If my album was wack and I only had that one song on there, I’d still go platinum — double platinum.”

Following Lil Wayne’s interview, RBMA Radio caught up with Mannie Fresh at the 9:30 mark to get his thoughts on reconnecting with Weezy, plus much more. “We didn’t miss a beat,” he said. “I think it was a good thing for us not to do a song in a long time, so when we came together he felt just as well as I did. Like, ‘wow, this is what hip-hop is missing. They want that OG original Cash Money sound.'”
