Lil Wayne just won with all the retro kids….:Mary J Blige, Swizz and Weezy “Just Fine” remix

Honestly, I can’t stand the original version of this song. Something about it, not sure. Reminds me of a Lucille Roberts commercial. (Maybe I’m just scarred by all that Mary J “Buy me a chevrolet. Buy me a chevrolet” singing nonsense) That’s why it took me a day to listen to this remix that Youheardthatnew sent over.
But he’s right, this is fun fire. The cheese factor is gone, and Lil Wayne for all his manic dramatics, rips over the Chubb Rock beat. The streetwear set will undoubtedly be jumping for joy in their day-glo kicks.

I’ve always felt the same way about the original.
I hate it even more cuz it plays every 5min in a video loop (iTunes commercial) at my job. Fuck retail.

I thought it was just me… I cannot stand the original song song either. Every time I hear that song on the radio (which is about every 5 minutes lately) i switch it right off haha.
But yea, the remix is much better

Eh….Are we listenin to the same song Miss Info? Weezy’s flow seems uneven to me. At certain times it rides the beat well and others its Eh. The Chubb Rock beat makes this remix to the point that both MJB and Weezy actually act as unwelcome distractions over it honestly. The merging of Just Fine over this beat doesnt sound smooth to me at all. In fact it sounds like just what it is….two completely different songs forced together. Eh….color me unimpressed.

oh shit! Miss Info is posting actual music on a hip-hop related blog? How uncharacteristic! lol, i keed…
yeah, but I LOVE “Treat ‘Em Right”…it took long enough for someone to bite that beat & pay homage…we need more uptempo songs to do the Running Man to.

you know what’s funny, i felt the same way when i first heard that mary song….i miss sad mary

ehhhh, it’s subpar… when it hits the radio (if it hasn’t already), it’ll leak into the mainstream and be one of those songs you always hear when you go out. so on that note, i’m already sick of it.
btw im through with these “wee”-mixes… i wanna hear that gritty “f*ck bitches, get money” (no offense info) flow. has anyone heard wayne’s songs in which he uses that “t-pain filter” in order to mask his voice and somehow make himself believe that he’s hitting notes that he would otherwise be unable to… whack. losing alotta respect for the dude.

Ah I gots to disagree – I think the orignal was fire. It’s such a feel-good song! BUT each to their own, and I can completely understand getting annoyed when it’s overplayed – as is what happens to most good songs in this commercial world, bleeding them dry and the feeling quickly changes from love to hate. But thankfully in the UK this hasn’t happened and I’m still loving it! As for the remix, i heard it yesterday and have to say I’m def not one to go crazy over a swizz remix(let alone feat. weezy)…but this is that shit!! you’re def right, lil waynes flow was crazy! Though I’m not gonna lie, it’ll take me a minute to understand everything he says..lol, that just me?

Man y’all really sound like some “hate the world” hipsters right now. Like there’s nothing on planet earth that you consider to be cool. “I miss sad Mary… I hate the original track… Weezy’s flow is uneven… fuck retail… Weezy likes drugs… I hate this remix because there a chance it will play alot on radio and I hate radio… ”
Hahaha… y’all are hella funny to me. I’m not a Weezy fan or a Mary J fanatic by any means, but it’s amusing to see such heart felt hate towards some pop shit. I don’t hold this music up to any sort of high standard therefore I see no need to get so heated over it. Weezy is not a real emcee so why hold him to real emcee standards. Swizz didn’t nothign on this track except loop up the “Treat em Right” 12-inch. And Mary is happy. It’s not the end of the world, people. So shut up and shake you ass to this when you hit the club.

The songs cool, you can actually understand most of the shit Wayne is saying. It would have been fire if they let Chubb Rock spit a verse!

Yall watch your mouth when talking about Ms. Mary….How old are yall anyway…? The nerve of you new jacks…You wouldn’t even have a job Ms Info without her work in the game…FUCKING CRITICS…..

I didn’t like the original, but you’re right… Weezy spiced up the remix. The dl link on Youheardthatnew doesn’t work tho… 🙁

AYOYE!(This is what we say in Quebec)
People can say what they want about Weezy, but there is NOBODY like him in the game right now, NOBODY!!!
January 30th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
i think its the lick! even weezy does not put me off this and yeah i would shake my stuff to that in the club if i heard it
big ups mary your still the nubian queen!
January 30th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Hell, I like this and the original.
January 31st, 2008 at 7:19 am
It’s okay, but until a decent version comes out, the beat is still Chubb’s. Fish and chips with the hippy hippy hips.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:48 am
lol @ c. baines
the og is fun, but it’s not mary-esque

I was thinking,”George Bush could prolly sound dope over this beat,” then when Mary’s vocal started . . . ugh, doesn’t fit. I’ll give Wayne his props . . . this time.

i agree the orignal song was horrible. i had to hear it at work (old navy) everyday i worked. but lil wayne killed his verse n made it that more enjoyable. i only listen to his verse n change the song
