Lauryn Hill’s embarrassing show in Oakland…no more making excuses for her
Posted by Miss Info under Uncategorized[60] Comments
Remember that Lauryn? Or the Lauryn here….
I remember when she was the most inspiring, most beautiful, natural, talented singer/songwriter/performer out. Nothing like todays manufactured singing stripper-dancers. Well, its time for an intervention…or is it 8 years too late?
Now she’s usually like this…
Or even worse…according to an eyewitness source, Lauryn Hill performed at the Paramount Theater in Oakland, CA…and maybe hit rock bottom:
“Man, I went and seen Lauryn Hill last night. Broad is crazy. She had that make-up on like a bag lady, like cake face with reds and blues. She wasn’t even performing songs, she was chanting and walking around. Then the broad fell and kicked her feet up for like a minute. Never seen nothing like it. Halfway thru, the crowd started booing, then got up and started a revolt for refunds…..”
ummm….is there a youtube?….I know folks had their camera phones out.
And just because I wanted to make sure that the person above wasnt just exaggerating….I found a local concert review that confirms the fiasco. This was part of the review at the the Inside Bay Area-Concert Blog.
“The crowd had started to turn on Hill long before she took the stage _ nearly 2 1/2 hours after the showtime printed on tickets. Even with an opener, fans were forced to endure an hour of silence. Little did they know that was going to be the highlight of the night.Once Hill finally made her appearance, fronting a solid 14-piece band that deserved far better than this, things began to quickly unravel. She opened with a jammed-out, improvised number that featured almost no real lyrics and zapped whatever little wind remained in the crowd’s sails.
The 32-year-old vocalist then turned to 1998’s landmark “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” _ a work that, amazingly, still stands as her most recent studio effort _ for a garbled version of “Lost Ones.” Her voice was terrible, so harsh, strained and unlike what one hears on the masterful “Miseducation” CD. She also sounded like she’s out of shape, huffing and puffing like a weekend warrior after only a few songs.
But it wasn’t just her voice that was shaky. Hill stumbled about the stage and, at one point, actually fell flat on her back _ which brought into question exactly what the singer had been doing backstage during the long delay.
Of course, Hill would find that question ludicrous. She blamed her stage fall on her high heels and, later in the show, took the time to assure the crowd that she was sober…….”
UPDATE: thank you to the readers who told me about the SFGate story about the Lauryn show and this photo….
Here’s a quote:
“Some concertgoers who had paid as much as $89.50 for tickets were requesting refunds even before Hill hit the stage — two hours and 15 minutes after the concert’s scheduled 7:30 start and 80 minutes after the opening act, Jupiter Rising, had finished its set. This was an improvement, however, over club shows last summer in San Francisco and Santa Cruz at which her performances began more than two hours behind schedule. Other patrons started their exits during her first song, and the trickle turned to a flow after a speech late in the show during which the vocalist attempted to explain her new musical direction. “I can’t fit into a stereotype that makes me comfortable for you,” she added. “If that makes me feel uncomfortable to you, I need to find some new company.”

bye lauryn.
June 28th, 2007 at 6:22 pm
I’ve been hearing all kinds of bad stuff about this show. WTF happened?!? She was at the Great American Theater in San Francisco like last year and that show was amazing! I’m glad I didnt go to last nights. I’d rather not remember her as the crackhead she looks like in that picture.
June 28th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
I was there last night. I was there early and I stayed late with my Significant Other. We were both excited about the show because we had waited until the last minute to buy tix because we just forgot about it but remembered the night before.
We are true fans of Lauryn because of the fact that she speaks to the fans through her music and does not compromise her moral beliefs regardless of how things look.
With that said, yes, the concert was a hot mess. I did think about getting money back after song 4 and it wasn’t because of her healing or anything like that…I just felt like we were participating in a stage version of a therapy session and we were witnessing her session. The sound was horrible. There was constant feedback from the monitors (you know that screeching sound) all throughout the show.
The musicians on stage were fabulous but she did not introduce them individually as is customary for most acts and no one had a solo. Her voice was raspy and she acknowledged that. She was either tired or sick or something. Regardless, I could not get over the outfit she had on. From a distance, she looked like a circus clown. Honey blonde uncombed medium sized afro wig, black long dress, with a huge yellow jacket with black checker pattern… My heart went out to her.
I almost cried in sympathy to her when droves of fans made an exodus to the back. I felt so bad for her. I was thinking…how is this making her feel?
I wish I could say something else about all of this initial experience but I can’t. As she has to speak her truth, I must speak mine and I was sorely disappointed. Not disappointed in her stance, not disappointed in her beliefs, not disappointed in her choice to grow as an artist and try new things, but to look like a circus clown when you are a performer, fall on stage, rush through songs that people adore…if she did not want to sing those songs for whatever reason, she should have warned people and said…”Yall, this a mostly reggae or this is some edgy new stuff…if you don’t like it? but just prepare yourself.” But we got none of that. No preparation for the shock factor.
I do appreciate her honesty about the whole sobriety thing. I really do believe she is sober and redirected. I really think she is still in the healing and self discovery stage of her life. Think about it, she had children …4 children about 23 years old. While we were out partying she was out changing diapers…lots of diapers for that period of her life, plus pushing maximum stardom! She is still awesome in my book.
Towards the end, lots of people including myself and my S.O. moved to the front of the stage. She started jamming some old stuff. She even did an encore. In the second half she even sounded better (voice-wise). I think she should go on vacation and just be happy.
Stress does strange things to people and stars are no exception. I still love Lauryn and always will. I also believe that her true fans will continue to stick by her regardless of what might appear before us.
She is in the process of transforming and creating a new identity for herself as she defines it by her own standards. I can respect anyone who can do that for themselves and not care what others think about it.
I just hope that her outcome is inner peace, true self-acceptance and divine harmony with her Maker and everything else will fall into its perfect place at the perfect time.

i use to listen to lauryn hill and tap my feet, then the chick put out a cd and it aint have no beats.
June 28th, 2007 at 6:53 pm
I was there…….the make up was worse than this…….I LOVE Lauryn but dayum!!!!!!!!
June 28th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
L-Boogie’s fall from the top has been painful to watch. She’s like the hip hop version of Whitney Houston, talented but always getting press for all the wrong reasons. Losing fans by the concert is not a good look. Who cares about a Fugees reunion? I’d be scared to invest into recording an Fugees album and promoting it with all the her erractic behavior. How many years does John Forte have left in prison?
June 28th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
Aight i will be the first one to say it…WHAT THE FUCK?
June 29th, 2007 at 12:11 am

LMAO!!! i’ve been telling people for years now she’s noodles…so much for that inspirational miseducation…
June 29th, 2007 at 2:18 am
for a minute there I thought that was her arm hair. She really needs help. I think her career is just about over.
Damn; I used to be the biggest L-Boogie fan ever!! I had 3 copies of her cds and magazine pics of her hanging in my old dorm room. I knew an intervention was needed when I heard that MTV Unplugged album. If she gains 10 more pounds she’ll look like Cealy from the color purple.
🙁

Info…i just talked to my cousin in the town, what we call oakland, and he said it was awful…he will only refer to hill as “that crazy bitch” from this point forward.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:46 am
missinfo read the comments section on the Inside Bay article u posted.
one audience member (dj brigidope) said the SOUND was fucked and she did completely different reditions of songs which might have turned off alot of ppl. They might not have been ready for the dubbed out Lee Scrtach Perry esque version of To Zion.
maybe it was just a straight shitty performance but maybe not?
shes performing a few more gigs in the next month so wait for more feedback. it was one show. and other artist have fallen on stage before and not been high when they did it.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:48 am
EVEN THOUGHT IT SEEMS HARSH AND SINICAL WHAT YOU’RE DOING MISS INFO BY SAYING THOSE HARSH THINGS ABOUT HER… SHE DESERVES IT.. HURTS ME TO SEE SOME ONE I ALSO IDOLIZED CRUMBLE LIKE THIS… HER TRUE FRIENDS, IF ANY, NEED TO COME TO HER RESCUE… WYCLEF.. I NEVER LIKED DA’ BASTARD HE SEEMS LIKE HE DOESN’T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HER. GOD WILLIN’ SOME ONE WILL COME AND SAVE HER FROM HER SELF.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:50 am
SHE DESERVES BETTER TREATMENT FROM THE PRESS… THIS WOMAN THAT HAS GIVNE US SOME MUCH NEEDS HELP A.S.A.P.. OBVIOUSLY, SHE’S NOT THE SAME LAURYN.. SOMETHING IT’S SERIOUSLY GONE MADLY WRONG WITH HER AND THE PEOPLE THAT SURROUND HER.

@MiMi, thank you so much for that incredibly detailed, honest, and thoughtful review of your concert experience. I think its easy for us to ridicule her embarrassing performance from afar but, I can see how a true fan witnessing the whole thing would also just feel sad. But I also feel like as a fan I’m done making excuses for her and saying, well she’s bucking the system, etc. Now I just think she let fame and perhaps a twisted love take over and make her lose her way for real. And even worse, all the people eating off her didnt care enough to protect the ship they were riding on all these years.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A PHOTO FROM THIS CONCERT?

@sky….yeah I read some of those comments but the general consensus was not good. I dont know. But you’re right….everyone can get their lives together. I worry about how her kids are if moms is erratic.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:30 am
Wow…. I mean… this is what happens when you disappear from the music world for so long…. no telling what she’s been doing in between time…. I feel bad for her yet she probably doesn’t feel bad for herself….

Aight i saw the pictures before. But that live performance pic …aw lord. What happend to my beatiful black queen?Damn it’s amazing i would expect for the media to destory a artist once they rise a state of greatness. But for a artist to destory themself is just “sigh”.Ms. hill should be smart enough to know if she wanted to introduced a new image to the world. To think the idea over first. Not to say “I can’t fit into a stereotype that makes me comfortable for you,” she added. “If that makes me feel uncomfortable to you, I need to find some new company”. That is a immature comment. How you going to expect us to accept you if you never give us a chance. She hasn’t touring for quite a while and she does this “sigh”. Truthfully speaking though i hated her first album not because i didn’t like it (It was a classic). It because i was in highschool at the time and the woman was dropping too knowledge .Imagine if your in highschool trying to do you and you got girls listening to Doo Wop (Not a good look trust me LMAO).Beside that as a grown man now i wish that more artist would have did what she has done. To inspire every young woman going through the pressure of society to think good about themself.Instead of falling in to the martix of the media fab.It just sad to see her fall from grace it kinda similar to Michael Jackson situation. Fucking sad, fucking sad i hope she finds her way…music needs her at best right now more then ever.
June 29th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
lets not be too harsh about all that. the problem is she needs have time to get back on her feet again she is a great artist and she would never give our culture a bad name if she can help it so give her a chance. she must have so much presure on her after she done so well in the past and it seems like this is set up for all say the next album is not as good as the last
June 29th, 2007 at 2:36 pm
Well, its a shame because she is one of the most talented out there but after the racial comments about her record sales from back in the day she was done and over to alot of her caucasian fans anyway…karma’s a bitch.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
this is just sad, i remember when lauryn was one of the best, if not thee best female rapper/singer, but i guess after the fallout of the fugees and the aftermath of the fugees failed reunion/comeback, whatever you want to call it ,had occurred, everything went down hill,
hopefully she doesn’t become like these other stars, also it would help if the media doesn’t add fuel to the fire
but we all know thats not going to happen, this is another story for our lil media people, it might meess around and make it on vh1’s best week ever
my advice is that she needs to address this problem before its too late,
June 29th, 2007 at 4:46 pm
its not sad, Its actually funny. lets forget this crackhead already/////
June 29th, 2007 at 6:18 pm
She definately needs some direction in her career…performing is like anything else if u havent done it in a while ur gonna be rusty but i dont see her career going down the drain. i think shes a talented enough artist to revive her career with the right help
June 29th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Give Lauryn a break…She did F up, however, no one is perfect, for all she has done and in the past and the soul she has brought to the music industry…I think she deservs a break from us.
Though I do feel sorry for the 2 guys sitting next to us who paid $380 and drove all the way from Tracy to see her…what a night. Not only Lauryn was out of shape on stage, there were a cat fight on second level which attraced more crowd than the singner…what a night.
June 29th, 2007 at 10:10 pm
Alicia Keys took over Lauryn’s spot a long time ago.
June 29th, 2007 at 10:18 pm
Well, I like her as a artist as a woman as a musical genious. But like Miss Info said i can’t keep on taking up for her and her crazy behaviour and the things that she has been getting into.
And its sad because im 21 years old and im trying to make it as a female artist but the only examples of Females that make it are not the types of people i would want to grow in their image.
I don’t think L boggie eva said she was going to be somebodies inspiration or she was going to have a person like me that grew up and loved her for what she was able to do and how she made it but damn ma you did
And when i see this type of shit it hurts me cause im like damn thats just another african american statistic, will any of is make it? Will any of us be able to lead a regular life and have strong carrers like a Jay-Z or 50 Cent…Every female is either ripped apart by the media, dropped off her lable or is plain pysco nuts like lauran hill or Foxy Brown
And as a die hard hip hop fan and a person who barely had a daddy that replaced that element in my life with music this type of shit takes seconds off my heartbeat..its killing me inside to see this happen to not only hip-hop but to african american women..lets not even get on HER KIDS
June 29th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
its sad what money does to these people, but GOD said the first will be last and the last will be first…in other words…..go ahead be an idiot, it won’t be for long!
June 29th, 2007 at 11:42 pm
lauryn been gone for a minute and she hasnt been wit ol boy in yrs, whatever the problem is she need to get it together
i’m wondering who is pushin her on the stage in the first place when they know her head aint right?
June 29th, 2007 at 11:54 pm
what I think….manager – or artists – really there comes a point when the people who are supposed to be surrounding and supporting the performance come together to say “no more.” It didn’t happen on Wednesday night.
Its sad to see this happen. From a performer perspective, it shouldn’t have. Where is the pride in the work? What happened to the grace and the strength – I fear it’s been spent, never to return. In the end we all mourn for what “might have been” for the comparison to what it is.

There isn’t any guarantee that you’ll get anything. Really – we all lose in the end. I am heart sick at the thought that even Columbia Records is ready to give up on her. But maybe it’s for the best? She’ll retreat and recouperate and come out strnger for the struggle. Its a often-repeated but never learned lesson of too much fame much too soon and no strong platform to stand on when the wave of criticism comes in. It feels like she’s just a shell…
June 29th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Some body please guide her in the right direction…….
June 30th, 2007 at 12:02 am
NO MORE EXCUSES FOR LAURYN!!! in reference to YoungLL, you can’t help anyone who doesn’t want your help. I’m sure that her family & friends (Wyclef) intervened but what are you to do if the person doesn’t give 2 turds of what you think and keep doing what it is that they want to do? Hands down – ever since she hooked up with the untalented Po-han Marley she went down south – literally. She moved into a penthouse in south beach with him and from what i heard she could afford the lavish lifestyle that he wanted and he moved out, but that’s what i heard from miami’s Supa Cindy’s lying fat ass. It looks like Lauryn was naive from the begining causing her to take a major lost. She’s the real lost one. It seems like Lauyrn is trying to be someone who she’s not; trying to win someone who’s gone, and doesn’t know what to do. She needs counciling. The reason why her voice was rapsy is because she smokes too much weed. We need to stop idolizing this people and idolize yourself. I was really the biggest L-Boogie fan ever but i grew out of that stage. Lauryn might as well crawl under a Jersey Hero and let people remember her as one of the greatest not one of the gone.
MISS INFO WHY DON’T YOU TRY TO GET A 1 ON 1 IN WITH LAURYN & LET HER EXPLAIN HERSELF; SHE’LL MOSTLY LIKELY DO IT BECAUSE SHE NEEDS THE EXPOSURE
June 30th, 2007 at 9:43 am
This is funny and then it’s sad because somehow I feel that Lauryn wants to continue to make music and share her vision, but does not know how to reconcile the baggage that goes along with it(being famous and having people “worship” her) with her spiritual beliefs. We weren’t put on this earth to worship people, and I think she is struggling with that because we’re human and of course it makes us feel good for tons of people to “love” us, but it can be a burden when someone wants a true relationship with God.
June 30th, 2007 at 3:46 pm
ya take music too seriosuly…LBoogie is a train wreck, maybe a dope fiend for all we know. forget about her and move on…think about your own families.
July 1st, 2007 at 3:05 am
Come on Miss Info….talk about how that new 50 Cent song is now the song of the summer.
It use to be the Neyo and Fab joint…I think this song takes the crown though…

Its sad but doesn’t surprise me; I saw her perform at Marleyfest here in HI some months back and while her sound was “okay”, she was 2.5 hours late! The rumor going around was that she was in the V.I.P. tent waiting for people to “clear the way/path” for her SUV to take her to the stage. Tickets were not that expensive, and there were so many other acts, so I got my money’s worth, but still….she was the headliner, and there were a lot of ppl out there just to see HER. I felt like she kind played her fans. A lot of people were lost when she put out her Unplugged CD, but I still was a fan. I just dont know anymore….
July 2nd, 2007 at 4:39 am
PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN TO LOVE THE NEW LAUREN HILL IF THEY REALLY LOVE HER! These promoters are dumb ass fuck! When they promote her shows they set people up for dissapointment by presenting her shows as the seconding coming of “The Miseducation” which is untrue. She’ll never be that artist again. When has her voice not been raspy since the MTV Unplugged session? Her voice is changing. Her taste is changing. PEOPLE CHANGE! Have some fucking empathy! The woman is a musical genius and geniuses tend to have eccentricities. Her’s are mearly compounded by an enormous amout of fame, fortune, and all the times she’s been fucked over by the few people (men) she held close to her in her life. WHY must we destroy our heroes once they cease to please us in the way we’ve become accustomed to? Just give her fifty feet and try to understand, cuz she’s still got it in her somewhere. And when she gets back in her zone all these fairweather Lauren fans are gonna jump back on her nuts like they never gave up on her like some fake ass fucks. Which is they type of people she’s complaining about to begin with. I for one stand by her, and pray she finds what she’s looking for.

July 2nd, 2007 at 2:05 pm
@ Archie
The problem is, no one knows what the new Lauryn Hill is. Many of us have been fans since “Blunted On Reality”. She’s not pulling people in, shes alienating former and new fans.
July 2nd, 2007 at 2:31 pm
# 40 – Archie //
1 – She isnt a hero
2 – She fucked herself, stop blaming men. and that goes for anyone that choses men/women for the wrong reason, she wanted marley sibling as her main goal so she got it, that doesnt come with loyalty and love.
3 – The “NEW” L.Hill is a joke, point blank a joke.
4 – She made her bed so we should let her sleep in it without the blind zombie like fans of hers paying for her concert tickets.
July 2nd, 2007 at 2:33 pm
lol the new L.Hill looks like a tramp that smokes 2 packs of newports a day. lol
July 2nd, 2007 at 4:48 pm
@ ron art
I’ve spoken to my peoples who had family performing on that stage with Lauren that night. Don’t think she’s oblivious to what went down people. Heads rolled and sound boys got checked hard after that show right down the chain of command. The band puts in 15 hour [sic] rehersal days with her and all of ’em including her came out expecting to do an ill ass show. But come show time it didn’t really fall out like that. But it BEEZ like that sometimes in music.
I KNOW her steezo right now is alienating people who been fans but like I said they fairweather. If anyone has had friends who have been artistic masterminds (musicians, painters, etc) and have seen them behave in erratic and very bizzare ways which damn near border crazy which I have, then you can feel her strug and see her progression. SHE went from Sex Symbol to what people say is a Bag Lady! ISN’T it too obvioius what she’s doing? So what if she’s not a media or label darling! Fuck the media and the labels! As for the people…we need to not be cannibals and be easy on her even if we don’t like her music right now, and the new fans’ll just have peep her resumé. AND TO ALL THE PEOPLE SAYIN’ SHE’S A CRAKHEAD OR A HIP HOP WHITNEY, YOU CAN DEAD THAT SHIT! No drugs were consumed by her back stage at all, that’s from my peoples who was with her the whole time she was back there. She’s just 90 millions miles away from ya’ll. Like Get Real Ni99az said, just ride out with her till further notice. And if u lightweight or fake u gonna flake and that’s coo by her too I’m sure.
July 2nd, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Are you kidding me. People come out and pay to see you and you act like that. Unexcusable. Normal sane people dont act like that. Artistic masterminds please, she needs help. How long are people gonna keep blaming Rohan Marley for her career going to shit. Maybe its time for her to look in the mirror and blame the person she’s lookin at.
July 3rd, 2007 at 3:38 pm
My girl & I spent $100 each and waked out half way through. The review above is completly accurate and I am totally insulted that she would take our money in that way. Her voice was terrible, band sucked, and her vibe was just ill. Self rightous talk while you drive away with our money and claim your keeping it real. I will never, never spend a cent on anything Lauryn Hill related ever again! Trust me she was one of my favorite artists but this show was a complete diss to everyone attending.
Good luck Diva, enjoy our hard earned money……
July 3rd, 2007 at 3:43 pm
She talks a lot of Shit but walked away from the Oakland show with a grip of money. Fuck the tortured artist bit, retire then. People work to hard to hand over $100+ and get dissed because your so deep. BullShit, total bullshit.
Give us all a refund if your so real Beeatch.
Never will give you a dime again….
July 3rd, 2007 at 5:29 pm
why she look like anita baker on crack.LOL.
July 4th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
@ archie.
We Fake? We Fairweather?
I dunno, but #49, and 50 bought up some good points:
“She talks a lot of Shit but walked away from the Oakland show with a grip of money. ”
“Self rightous talk while you drive away with our money and claim your keeping it real.”
I saw Lauryn at the beginning of her “change” back in 2001 (i think). She performed in Brooklyn, NYC for free at the yearly African American Street Festival which used to be on Fulton & Utica. Many of us had NO idea what we were in for. Despite her crying on stage, crying while singing, and leaving Scooby-Doo “huh’s?”, and question marks over the heads of 90% of the people there, we still cheered.
We knew she was going through some shit by mid performance and we RODE with her.
Lemme repeat that: we RODE with her.
This concert was BEFORE the MTV unplugged performance and CD. 5-6 years later, we still rode for her despite all the reports that chick is buggin the fuck out. After a while, when you see shit for yourself as many people witness, you just say fuck it.
Like Info said, no more excuses.
Its not the promoters fault.
If Lauryn knows good and well she’s NOT gonna perform old songs, and wants to do some new extra shit, she has the power to indicate that beforehand, so people know what to expect.
Lauryn as much as we love this chick – fell the fuck off. TRUE fans and friends – not dick/crotch riders – will tell you when your shit stinks.
Ill say again:
Many of us have been fans since “Blunted On Reality”. She’s not pulling people in, shes alienating former and new fans.”
July 4th, 2007 at 8:02 pm
horrible.
i am very disappointed.
just put.
thats sad

I got tickets to go to the VIBE concert that was at Phillips Arena in 2005. The Marley bro.’s opened the concert and Lauren ended it. We knew she was buggin when she was on stage with a turtle neck sweater on, huffin & puffin as if she had just run from NY to Atlanta. I think it was JULY! It was 90 something degree! She stopped the in mid song to fuss at the band who she said was off, but it was really her!
She couldn’t get it together to save her life. People walked out and I would’ve been sooooo pissed if I had paid for the tickets!
She will never get my support again!

I first became infatuated w/ Lauryn when the Fugees came out mainly because she was a beautiful chick hanging w/ dudes and she wasn’t gay!!!! That was me. but then I fell off, then what happened….. she goes solo.
Da Miseducation cd brought me through my lonely pregnacy @ da age of 15. The words of all of those songs touched every aspect of my life and helped me get thru the tough times and come out w/ a beautiful baby girl and a new outlook on both of our lives. I’m a ride or die fan for Lauryn. I even stuck up for her when the Fugees appeared for a reunion and she had the black bow on. I don’t want to comment on this recent show b/c I wasn’t there. We absolutely love or children so there’s no way she’ll be doing anything that will hurt them or affect them in a negative way.

YOU GUYS HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN READ ABOUT WHERE YOU CANT GO. I AM A true LAURYN FAN! TRUE SHE HAS A NEW FASHION STYLES THESE DAYS BUT JUST HERE POINT THAT ALL YOU EMPTY MINDED OVER OPINONATED NET JUNKIES WHOM CALL THEMSELVES FANS …SEEM TO MISS. ALL THAT ARTIST GIVE UP TO LIVE THEIR PASSIONS (WHICH MOST OF US DREAM OF DOING!)IN THE SPOT LIGHT AND CONTINUE TO EVAULVE AS A PERSON IN THE SPOT LIGHT..LAURYN IS SAYING F! THE MADNESS & THE VANITY AND POSION AND OPINONS THAT COMES WITH THAT LIFE AND PAY ATTENTION TO MY VOICE AND THE LYRICS…THE ART!
I SAW LAURYN LAST NIGHT HERE IN Oakland AND YES SHE WAS ON LATE BUT WHEN SHE CAME ON SHE ROCKED IT!LAURYNS ENERGY WAS HIGH, SHE LOOK LIKE SHE WAS FEELING HER LYRICS, AND HER VOICE WAS JUST WHAT I EXPECTED.
THE HALF OF YOU INCLUDING THE AURTHUR OF THIS ARTICLE CANT EVEN IMAGINE THE TRIPS ON STAGE IN FRONT OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE, DREAM OF CHOOSING THE PERFECT OUTFIT THAT YOU FEEL GOOD IN FOR THE DAY AND IT BEING THE WRONG OUTFIT FOR EVERY 2ND PERSON IN WORLD … YOUR DREAMS CANT REACH HALF AS FAR AS THE WORK SHE PUT IN TO BE WHO SHE IS. SHES A DEVOTED MOTHER, WIFE AND A TRUE ARTIST THAT DESERVES TRUE FANS. BUT IM SURE THAT OVER YOU HEADS ALSO!
IN ADDITION I FIND IT FUNNY THAT WHEN ANDRE 3000, BEFORE THE 3000 HE WAS JUST ANDRE… A RAPPER WITH OUTCAST THEN HE GOT WITH BADU AND SHE HELPED HIM OPEN HIS MIND; THIS KAT CAME ON THE SCENE WITH LINE GREEN FURRY PANTS UP TO HIS NIPPLE IN ADDITION TO SOME OTHER CHOICE CLOTHING THE WORLD TILTS THEIR HEAD A LITTLE AND KEPT IT PUSHING AND EMBRACED HIM AS THIS ECLECTIC ARTIST AND HIT A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL OF STARDOM AND HE CONTINUED TO GROW INTO THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ATR HIMSELF! NOW MY GIRL LAURYN A THAT TOOK THE SAME DRASTIC CHANGE IN CLOTHING CHOICES, IS HELD AT SUCH JUDGMENT AS A WHOLE. IS IT BECAUSE SHES A WOMAN AND HER CHOICES PLAY DOWN HER PUBLIC OPINION OF “SEXY”… IM JUST SAYING
