Kelly Rowland is mourning a major loss in her family. The R&B singer’s mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, passed away on Tuesday in Atlanta. The 66-year-old went into cardiac arrest on Monday, and to the attack, never recovering. A publicist for Rowland confirmed the news (via E! News) following the tragic moment.

“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Doris Rowland Garrison. She was an incredible soul who made countless sacrifices so that I could become the woman—and now mother—I am today,” Rowland said in a statement Wednesday. “We humbly appreciate all the love and support and only ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

It’s been an emotional rollercoaster for the Destiny’s Child member, who gave birth to her first child Titan Jewell Weatherspoon in November, with husband Tim Weatherspoon.
