Posted by Andy B. under Life Beyond Rap , Videos[5] Comments
Kanye West is sure to claim the summer — hell, the whole year — as his own with his forthcoming sixth solo album, but it’s always nice to look back on the career of one of music’s biggest personalities. In this new fan-made documentary entitled Where The Lonely Kids Go When The Bell Rings, filmmaker James Workman takes us on a trip down memory lane through Kanye’s inevitable, yet often tumultuous, journey to the top.
Compiling live performances, interviews and other rare footage, the film chronicles his College Dropout days to the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy masterpiece, and everything in between. Here’s your next 45 minutes sorted.

This really takes me back. I remember growing up listening to rap and never really hearing anyone I truly related to. Kanye changed all that. I feel like Kanye albums and Lupe’s first two albums gave voice to the regular guy who wasn’t in the streets and made him cool. It was nice to hear an album that wasn’t all about violence and drugs or something I needed an encyclopedia to understand.

I totally agree, man. It was amazing to hear someone rapping about how much he hated working at The Gap.
