I’m Happy to see someone of influence give Manny Fresh some credit. This guy is really amazing in retrospect. To bad the Niggas rapping on his shit were mostly wack. I remember how big of a deal it was made when he used his first sample or something. (I think he sampled a biggie song for Wayne). That’s really counter intuitive when it comes to hip hop.

is it just me, or does kanye talk differently now (i.e., more proper-sounding)?
i don’t think it’s just me…

only around whitey which I dont get? lol! i mean his interview accent is totally different from the one when he’s talking to Mannie, Jay (when they went back to his old crib on the Southside), or whatever other hood nicca you could mention! lol it bugs me out & its kind of irritating because its like PICK ONE my nigga! they gonna love/hate you anyway!
on another note, I’m glad they showed Mannie that love, although some of his latest shit has been dry, I have some of his shit on one of my Pandora stations & he was beastly! Maybe he could bounce back like Swizzy did after he stalled early 2000’s!

i hear you dude and i was just talking about this and the history of black english to van of german and australian exchange students here in Sydney who said they don’t understand me sometimes. the way we speak is so complex and 3 dimensional as opposed to the way europeans speak which is fairly straight. black people who travel A LOT i notice (even when I first started traveling) tend to pick up the accents and over compensate sometimes just like any other traveler would and only notice it when we get back around our ppl. i don’t think he’s frontin for anybody he’s just becoming a global individual. my opinion if you disagree please say so i’m open to new perspectives.

i really just wanted to make sure i was hearing what i was hearing and that i wasn’t trippin’.

Yea bro I actually do disagree with you, respectfully!
I feel like Kanye should just find a medium & stick with that as far as how he talks. By him switching it up for certain people and crowds comes off totally condensing to the people he “dumbs it down” for. It’s some total douchebag shit to be perfectly frank! And we all know that he has made no attempt in masking that he is a douche but to feel as though you have to sound a certain way for people is next level! For example, Jay Z, someone who is equal to, if not surpassing him in terms being a global figure who is always in different circles…he of course speaks more appropriately when in interviews but he doesn’t sound TOTALLY different (ie Kanye). Kanye sounds like a gay white male, and I am not a gay bashing type of dude but c’mon if you just walked in a room without knowing who was talking to the interviewer that would be the first thing that popped in to your head. On the flip side if I were walking, unknowingly, into a room where a Common or Jay Z interview was being conducted before I even look up I would know that that is them. Not sure if you’re getting my analogy here, as it is much harder to explain in text, but that’s how I feel! Damn near everybody from “da hood” has that “job interview voice” if need be, I just feel like Yeezy took it to the 10th power with it! It’s as if he’s totally ashamed with how the Southside raised him to talk so he has to straighten up & fly right for whitey! Lol smh!

i guess the degree to which it annoys/confuses me is because why now? like, nigga if you wanna switch up how speak according to your environment, fine. but you should’ve BEEN doing that shit.
to me, it seems to be part and parcel of this whole WTT shit going to his head and him thinking he’s the fucking michelangelo of the 21st century and shit.
niggas is psyched the fuck out, for real.
