Jay Elec season is approaching. After releasing his first song in years, “Better In Tune with the Infinite,” out of the blue last week, Jay Electronica drops another bombshell on our heads: a “We Made It” remix with Jay Z (I’ll let that sink in for a second). With Jay citing the scriptures and Hov delivering his best verse in a minute, Roc Nation’s finest stunt on them haters in style. Most notably, Jay Z finally responds to Drake’s comments about his art-obsessed rhymes by rapping, “Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk/Silly me rappin’ ’bout shit that I really bought.”
Does this mean Act II is finally on its way, dare we ask?

Lyrics via Rap Genius:
[Verse 1: Jay Electronica]
The devil, the haters, the bloggers, the papers, the labels, they labeled me
But they can’t relate to our struggle, my nigga, we came up from slavery
Apologies go out to all of my fans cause they waited so patiently
This one is for all of the lost and forgotten black angels that prayed for me
A milli, a milli, niggas love me cause I’m ill
The greatest story ever told, niggas in the field
From Solomon to Sambo to Django, it’s fact
I’m the Farrakhan of rap and I get it from the wheel
The son of WD, who hung around in the D
Who ran around in the three
The trap gods raised me
Face all on the Sphinx
Story all in the wall of the pyramids
Niggas know the Black God saved me
You can blow the nose off, that won’t change it
Obamacare won’t heal all that anguish
We came a long way from the bottom of the boat
All praise to the Mahdi, we found our language
Gold necklace, middle finger erected
God tribe of Shabazz stylin’ on the record
Lost sons of Muhammad, wildin’ in the wreckage
Asha du illah illaha is the message
All these niggas, I got to fight one
All these devils, I got to strike some
All these rebels just waitin’ on the war cry
Mama said: “son, you got to strike drum”
Roc Nation, celebration
Motivation, elevation
Nigga we made it from slaves on a slaveship
Live from the cotton fields, straight to the spaceship
[Verse 2: Jay Z]
Hop off the slave ship
Poppin’ my chain, and took it to Jacob, I got it gold plated
Walked in that bitch like “Nigga we made it!”
I own my own masters, you know I ain’t missin’ no royalty statements
I can’t be rated, damn Hov stunt on them haters
Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk
Silly me rappin’ ’bout shit that I really bought
While these rappers rap about guns they ain’t shot
And a bunch of other silly shit that they ain’t got
I’m on my Lupita Nyong’o
Stuntin’ on stage, got the 12 Years A Slave
This Ace of Spades look like an Oscar
Black tux, look like a mobster
Don’t make me RRRRAA yah, nigga watch your tone
I come to court with black boxers on
Y’all hella jealous of my melatonin
I could black out at any given moment
I’m God, G is the seventh letter made
So when my arms & feet shackled I still get paid
All praises due
I’m ready to chase the Yakub back into caves
These are the last days, but do I seem fazed?
Showed up to the last supper in some brand new J’s
I’m the true and livin’, book of Hov
New religion, 8th wonder of the world, alien, superstition
You’re blind, baby
Blind to the fact of who you are maybe
My bloodline’s crazy
Kings and queens and Michael Jordan rings
I go stupido, sucio
The flow is filthy, y’all can’t kill me
I’ve been inoculated from the snakes and the fakes
The corny handshakes, cock sucker we made it

Great song, did he mean melanin?
melanin is the primary determinant of skin color
melatonin – A hormone derived from serotonin and produced by the pineal gland that stimulates color change in the epidermis of amphibians and reptiles and plays a role in sleep, aging, and reproduction in mammals

Jay smashed the hell outta this, 3rd time listening to his verse in a row. DAMN
March 24th, 2014 at 8:25 am
ooOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo god dAMMMNNN this is what i live for. this is hip hop reminds me of the first time i heard how sick gov around the blue print-blue print. when you hear him rap and i don’t care who you are, if your into hip hop including rappers you knew you weren’t fucking with that verse. this is one of those verses like when he did diamonds remix OOOOoooooo drake just got spanked and sent to time out where wayne has been since that same type of verse on j.coles mr.nice watch wayne didn’t say shit after that
March 24th, 2014 at 10:44 am
honestly im like ehhhhh ok… I could see my self living without this one… jay hasn’t killed a verse in forever (even the stans admit it) and jay elect-ed but never takes office. we don’t care anymore homie. its over. go back to abiza. you rap like once every year… you are NOT that nice G! by no means. if you dropped… no one would buy it. not even the backpackers… if they still exist. the best part of this record is the intro lets be clear… and I thought it was really funny how much I thought jay electronica was Cam when it started lol… I listened again… still bl-ahhhhh (said the same way jay ends his verse)
March 24th, 2014 at 10:55 am
u dont mean that! none of it! do you?!?!?
March 24th, 2014 at 11:25 am
Finally someone rescued this beat.
March 24th, 2014 at 1:12 pm
Melatonin has been linked to blackouts by patients who take it since it impacts sleep patterns so I think he does indeed mean melatonin.
March 24th, 2014 at 2:10 pm
THE FUCK?! NOTHING WORSE THAN WHEN YOU DAD IN AN ATTEMPT TO “BE COOL” STEALS YOU SUPREME HAT TO WEAR WITH HIS POLO SHIRT TUCKED INTO HIS JEANS THAT ARE PULLED ALMOST UP TO HIS NIPPLES. YEA JAY-Z I’M TALKING ABOUT YOU. AS FOR JAY ELECT, GO BACK TO THE STUDIO APARTMENT YOU CAME FROM.
March 24th, 2014 at 2:19 pm
Stans are out in full force. This track is subpar.
March 24th, 2014 at 2:38 pm
Thank you Bianca
March 24th, 2014 at 2:46 pm
Ummmm am I the only one that noticed that Jay went off beat like 100 times? Plus why mumble the Mister/misses drizzy part? I liked J Electronicas flow way better. he murdered this beat. Hov played catch up the whole time. This wasn’t a diss at all.
March 24th, 2014 at 2:49 pm
Mehhhh..it was ok. Hov said “Mister” Drizzy, not Misses… Stop instigating guys. Lol. Well at least now we know who’s 5% chain, Hov was wearing all winter. The God Jay Electronica’s. Nice to hear Jay E, back. But he going to need more than that to step to Drake and Kendrick Lamar. But the thought is oh so delightful.. The Prestige, the Turn and now the Pledge.

LEA,
hell yea I mean it, this shit is hype only! I base lyrics on a simple scale. if this was the first thing you heard from this artist would it be enough to make you want to hear more. I STAND ON MY WORD when I say I would have heard this… been mad at Mr.North for having to post this… (I know its not you its the job) and I would have kept my day moving without ever wanting to Google either artist for more info or prior catalogue. the whole 5% thing jay elec does was cool at first but if your not someone who has a knowledge of it your lost… and not in a cool “your not in our circle” way… more like a 5% was the hoods religion in the wu-tang days. so if you don’t remember that your lost. that shit is wack every verse… and lets be clear… all that shit ends with hating the “white devils” a very small percentage of black people buy records so how many records is Jay Elect gonna sell when the only people buying records realize what he is saying? as for Jay-z… im sorry but he is dated… the verses don’t hit as hard and haven’t in a very long time… he doesn’t have the impact on record he once had. and people are starting to realize it. there was a time when he could turn the lights out on someone’s carrier with a well placed verse. now… he gotta make a phone call bc the verse aint gonna do it… he isn’t that guy anymore… every new rapper has had Jay on a record…. ALL of the top now rappers… and none of them were scared to get killed on there own shit. Kendrick and the rest of these kids are coming for blood and jayz dances on tracks like oh im above it… no my friend if you put your foot in that water it will get bit off and you know it lets be honest!
March 24th, 2014 at 4:07 pm
Damn the report got changed to role with the hype…first you reported it as MR. now you change it to MRS?

March 24th, 2014 at 11:41 pm
First off that was NEVER cam’s beat EVER! Bleek & Beans killed that track while cam was his same ol’ whiny trash self! BUT… That song (The Roc) was the first time that sample was ever used & Just Blaze DESTROYED that ish, while whoever the F%^$ produced drake’s worthless version needs to taken out back & put to sleep! Trash ass 2014 producers… F$%# these noobies! And Jay Squared killed that ish, straight up!
March 25th, 2014 at 8:54 am
Step up to……Drake? Gtfoh. I hope that will be the first and last time I ever hear that statement. If that’s the way the games going then I’m done with the genre.
March 25th, 2014 at 9:02 am
i really enjoy Jay Elec when i really sit down and dissect his words. Hov is Hov i took it as what it is a freestyle took it in the moment. after this week ill forget about it just like the Kendrick Control verse well that took about a month on repeat!!! but…..GREAT at the moment! i honestly appreciate and understand your opinion!!!
March 25th, 2014 at 9:46 am
Man….nobody’s scared of these new niggas lol. And let’s be clear, you’re only referring to K.Dot. Whose “Control” verse was also subject to a lot of over hype. Some might view that verse as mediocre as well. And Jay Elect has always been himself, this verse isn’t any different. Yea, he should’ve came out with the album a minute ago but whatever, he hasn’t. And of course he wouldn’t sell….even he was really poppin, that’s nothing new. That’s why people rocked with him in the first place, bc we needed a break from those other muthafuckas(the ones who sell records). We’re just in a time where, bc of the lack of longevity and good albumS, people have shorter attention spans and more is required to keep ones attention. But hey maybe mixtapes have diminished the importance of label controlled albums. Even still…..yes, the Jay of today is not what he used to be but you can say the same for rap overall. Jay is only a reflection of that. These muthafuckas have to cater to the listener in order to say relevant. What commercially successful, veteran artist, hasn’t tweaked/watered down their sound/lyrics? Even Nas has. The ones who haven’t go to rock the bells lol. They don’t sell. It’s sad but true and is really a reflection of the listeners. Have you heard the Sour Hour track by Styles? I couldn’t believe my ears lol.
March 25th, 2014 at 11:00 am
That is true, but on the other side Soulja Boy just made another beat that will be in the Hip Hop lexicon forever. Sooner or later people have to acknowledge that he truly belongs here, and he deserves to be here. Yes People, Soulja Boy is real hip hop.
March 26th, 2014 at 4:47 pm
whats a backpacker? 5% religion in 95 was the hood religion? youre honest but are you informed. and it sounds like youre very rap oriented and not hip hop. all the sub genres you use were made by the labels for marketing. MC’s didnt start categorizing themselves as such until their soul goal was to get a deal. As far as the lingo being not of anyones circle thats how hip hop is period. no matter what. it could be being a 5% or a isrealite like killa priest was. it could be being from another coast where a word means something totally different there. thats why hip hop is a INFORMATION tool as well as being entertainment. so instead of feeling alienated learn something else about someone else and you will be well rounded. you know like 360 degrees in the cipher
March 26th, 2014 at 4:49 pm
theres a book the science of melanin. its not pseudo science. its physiological. melatonin does more than that.
March 28th, 2014 at 8:07 am
