As the community in Ferguson, Missouri and worldwide still mourns and protests the murder of Michael Brown, J. Cole took time to visit the spot where the 18-year-old was gunned down by local police last Saturday. Arriving with members of his Dreamville Records label, the Roc Nation MC spoke with local residents and activists, as they all mourned the loss of Brown during a chaotic time where a community is still shaken following the incident.

On Friday, the North Carolina rapper released the song “Be Free,” inspired by the tragic moment, pleading an end to violence. “Rest in Peace to Michael Brown and to every young black man murdered in America, whether by the hands of white or black. I pray that one day the world will be filled with peace and rid of injustice. Only then will we all Be Free.”
