So…is this November mega-release date the dramatic climax of 2009? In 2007 it was the 50 Cent vs Kanye sales battle, and in 2008….hmm, I don’t remember a climax, I think we were all just too freaked out about the economic collapse. But now, it seems that on Nov.23, “Super Monday,” there will be new releases from 50 Cent, Rihanna (“the wait is ova”), Lady Gaga (the Kanye flat-leaver), Timbaland, Baby, and Jay Sean. Meanwhile, “Super Tuesday” Nov. 24, will launch new albums from Justin Timberlake** and Britney Spears. Yikes.

Well, ever the businessman, 50 cent reacted to the mass release date in an interview with the Canadian Press:

“I guess I should be devastated that I’m up against Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Britney Spears?…This is a great competition: you mean to tell me I get the chance to go into a battle against pop singers?… I don’t see myself in competition with artists that aren’t even in the same genre…Could you find a rapper for me to compete with please? Now I gotta fight Justin? I’m gonna fight him and kick his ass!”

UPDATE:**It seemed odd that Justin would suddenly drop an album without any promo on a single, not buzz, nada. So reader Ian thinks maybe the Canadian reporter got Timberlake and Timbaland mixed up…misleading Fif into the above reaction. Very possible!

Lol…Fif has a point, there is nobody to play the foil for him. No good vs evil, no underdog/overdog. But I also thought this quote was interesting. 50 is asked his Kanye and Jay-Z commentary.

Well, I don’t say lemme talk about these other guys for no reason. If they come up in conversation based on something they’ve said about me, then we’ll discuss it. But I have no interest in talking about them, like they’re not friends of mine. They involved in the same business and are part of the same culture, I’m aware of them, but I can care less about ’em.

“Your friends are people you call for no reason. … I don’t call these people. You know, ’cause we write music and we do some of the same things for a living, people make comparisons and they act like we actually have relationships when we don’t know each other.

“All I know is their work.”
