In other Jay-Z news: A 9-11 Charity Concert at MSG
Posted by Miss Info under Concerts , Good For Hip Hop , Good For Humanity , Life Beyond Rap , New Music , Things I Love[14] Comments
According to the NY Times, Hov will be celebrating the release of Blueprint 3, by performing at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 11, 2009, and donating the proceeds to the New York Police and Fire Widow’s and Children’s Benefit Fund. Obviously, that will be a huge benefit for the families left behind from the original 9-11 tragedy. The show is reportedly going to be broadcast on Fuse (which also broadcast Kanye’s recent concert…so big up to them).
(now this is what I call a dope record release celebration. It also counters any public perception that the use of 9-11 as a drop date post-2001 was insensitive)

Did he really have a choice to NOT do something? I mean really.

OMG WHAT A GREAT GIMMICK!!!!
SAD GIMMICK!!! But here is the reality Eminem only did 1.3 or 1.7 so far moving 600k or so the first week and Young 40 base isn’t that big so I expect him to do half of those numbers!!
WHY HOLD A MEMORIAL LIKE THIS HE’S A FUCKING CLOWN??? SERIOUSLY!!! WRiTE A CHECK AND HAVE THE FDNY COME OUT TO CENTRAL PARK FOR A FREE EVENT AND GET DONATIONS….WOW THIS GUY!!
GO TO CENTRAL PARK AND DO IT OUT DOORS AND HAVE A FREE CONCERT AND LET PEOPLE NOT THINK ABOUT THAT TRAGEDY DONT LEAN ON IT FOR PROMOTION JUST PROMOTE YOUR SHIT DO YOUR EVENT AND SAY HEY MY ALBUM COMES OUT BUT LETS HAVE FUN… CHANGE THE NARRATIVE OF THE DAY!! DUDES A FUCKING LOSER!!
Not impressed with him as a man BUT he’s mighty successful and this is the success should be honored culture SOOOOOOO I guess I should bow right or like the song says I haven’t accomplished enough to have an opinion.. rich nigga raps ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Of course I can’t find tix to the “Bat Show”…C’mon Hov,you know a Hov concert in NYC is what a Hair Show is to every other state…
August 24th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
well you’re right about that…anything less would have felt very inconsiderate.
August 24th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
I disagree, 9/11 is tragic, but it’s not Jay’s job to fundraise. I give him credit for doing it, but it’s definitely not inconsiderate if he pocketed the money from the show.
If that’s the case, it would be great that on 9/11 all businesses fork over a percentage of the days sells to all the families that lost someone that day.
August 24th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Well if he didn’t it would have been seen as using 9/11 as a marketing ploy, especially since its a Friday and not a Tuesday. Granted when he put his album out that day in ’01 he had no clue what it would become, if he just put the album out that day and said it was to commemorate BP, it would still be seen as insensitive.

exactly

Eminem only sold what he did because he’s no longer relevant he took to many years off hip hop changed alot in that time and when he returned he had nothing new to offer that was any different from his previous work. Now that has nothing to do with Jay-Z or what he’s doing which is why I’m so confused with your comment. Listen when it comes to 911 and the families affected no one cares about your stupid I hate Jay-Z rap bullshit beef agenda which you obviously have its about those families and if someone anyone wants to do anything to help them in anyway who are we to say they cant or question there intentions what exactly did you do so great that you can turn your nose at Jay no one thought any ill thoughts about Paul McCartney’s intentions or Elton Johns or Billie Joels concerts for 911 why should Jay-Z be any different I think Jay is doing a cool thing no matter what hidden agenda he might or might not have that doesn’t change the fact he’s helping some people that might need some help

Hey Miss info How do we donate to Jay’s cause and or get tickets to this show any Info?
August 25th, 2009 at 2:55 am
You must not know me very well because if you did you would have known that I can back up anything I say BUT I WONT THIS TIME!!
Its just tacky for dude to do this THE END and if its about those poor people and families than he can donate the same size check make it a free event allowing them to earn more money and call it a day, right?
He is rich? See none of those other people are dropping a fucking album that my problem and for the record I did lose a very close friend during 9/11 firefighter who used to come to my PAL league games years ago, o but you didn’t know that huh? I donate to my local fire department every 3 months because unlike those racist pigs they actually have no bias when they risk their life to serve and protect the public. So what about you, go donate for no reason then come talk to me? Better yet light a candle for Rich for me that would be nice..
Now watch how gay and arrogant Jay-Z comments about this are.. His statement will read something like this “You know this was a tragedy and I had to do my part it was only right, I wanted to give the families joy on this day and a reason to forget about the sadness” Punk ass nigga!
At the end of the day if he wants to do something make it a free show and make Sept. 12th the big “it” day having people looking forward to a NY style Giants stadium version of Glastonbury… Nah gotta move those units..
And Eminem sales are a reflection of the times not his time off and if putting out work gives Young Hov a chance to do anything ITS FAIL because his last 3 albums were terrible!! BUT YOU DONT HEAR ME THOUGH!!
More success worship… I feel bad for beyonce!

I agree with u 100 and ten percent Big.. This clown Jayz is using 911 to increase his record sales !! that is clear as day, he dont care about the families of the victims.. Y drop ur rap album on da day of an American Tragey ?? and try 2 blend dat 2gether, Dat sounds stupid to me ! Its not like he has songs about world peace and unity, and BP1 coincindentally happened on 911. This is a clear disrespect to the families, and a obviious gimmick. Where’s Al Sharpton ?? this bitch nigga is goin to far, and its sad cause the hiphop community alway dick-lick jayz because of his money. All hes is is a cocky, arrogant 4 nothing, overrated, rich, uncreative, redundant, sellout rapper, i dont see y niggaz kiss his ass.. hes been using gimmicks his entire career, but now this bitch nig went toooo fuckin far !!!!

Personally I don’t think that Mr. Handsome has received enough accolades for his humanitarian efforts. In my opinion a lot of celebrity do-gooders are totally phony and engage in so called good deeds merely for positive publicity. I have to say that I don’t think that George is one of the phonies out there in the world of celbrity do-gooders. I admire what he is doing for the Haitian people. I wish more celebrities were as real as he is when it comes to helping out those less fortunate in the world. So kudos to George and his desire to make this world a better place.
