The rap community is mourning as news has surfaced early Saturday morning (Jan. 20) that artist Fredo Santana has passed away. Rising Texas rapper Maxo Kream made the sad revelation on social media. Artists like Drake, Lil’ Durk, Joey Badass, Lil’ B and more confirmed the rumors while sending their condolences in various posts on Twitter and Instagram. Born Derrick Coleman, Fredo Santana was 27-years-old at the time of his death. Currently there’s no confirmed reports as to the cause of death. Santana previously has been hospitalized for a seizure, along with liver and kidney failure.
The Chicago native is one of the key artists responsible for the city’s Drill music scene along with Chief Keef, Lil’ Durk, King Louie, Young Chop and Lil’ Reese. UPDATE: TMZ reports Santana died Friday night (Jan. 19) from a fatal seizure. His girlfriend arrived at his L.A. home around 11:30 p.m. PST, where she found the rapper dead on the floor. He leaves behind an 8-month old son, Legend, who was born in June 2017.
