While it’s unlikely we’ll ever get to hear the 80 or 90 songs that didn’t make To Pimp a Butterfly, Flying Lotus did break us off with some unreleased Kendrick Lamar material last night. During his residency on BBC Radio 1, FlyLo played the full version — which, sadly, is only 68 seconds long — of “Eyes Above,” a snarling, head-spinning record he regularly spun at live shows last year.

FlyLo also interviewed Kendrick during his two-hour broadcast last night, in which he talked about his recurring dreams and the inspirations behind his new album while getting his life guru on: “I encourage you, the listener, to always put your heart over a number or a dollar sign.” Listen to the conversation here (Kendrick appears at the 01:37:30 mark).
