Exclusive: Gucci Mane x Miss Info, The Appeal interview
Posted by Miss Info under About Miss Info , Albums , Crony-ism , Exclusives , Quotes , Videos[13] Comments
When we debuted the Gucci Mane feat. Nicki Minaj and Pharrell song, “Haterade”….I mentioned that last month, I caught up with Gucci out in LA after his video shoot with Swizz Beats.
And last year around this same time, Gucci took me to East Atlanta’s Bouldercrest projects, to discuss hustling, beef, and regret. But what a difference a year makes. While I’d characterize Los Angeles as a sort of “trap” too, this time, the craft services were better; Philippe’s chicken satay and green prawns (aka the rapper-happy-meal, lol)….
Gucci and I talked about his post-jail, post-beef album, The Appeal (dropping next Tues, Sept 28), his Waka Flocka and Deb Antney… and his rarely discussed family. In part one (above), he says his approach to the music business has changed since last year’s stint in jail, and why….
Hear the Trey Songz “Bottom’s Up” remix with Gucci and Wiz Khalifa, and more…

PS: Hip hop purists debate the merits of Gucci and his ilk all the time, and I consider myself a purist too (by experience, lol)…but it’s never kept me from enjoying classic Gucci songs (like “I Think I Love Her” and my favorite “Heavy”, etc ; ), or from appreciating the fact that he always been exceedingly friendly and respectful. The man has struggled with many demons, and had many trials…but he never comes off as bitter and soured.
(There will be more footage from the interview I’m sure. But much love to my blog colleagues, thank you so much for the support, and I apologize in advance for any babbling or awkward segues, lol…and thanks again to the Asylum/WMG family: Todd, Joie, Shari, Aura, Denise, Ayal, J.Grand, Ashaunna, and all)

Honestly Info could interview an empty chair and I’d still watch it but seriously I like Gucci’s interviews. Regardless of his music, which has been hit or miss with me, seeing him able to communicate and express himself in a proper manner helps to build that respect for the business man he is. And seeing his growth over the years is great.

It’s no problem. In living hip hop, in knowing no other way to live then through hip hop, a decreasing number of people use their public presence to rep it right. So it’s just good to see it and it deserves full support.

“Heavy” was prolly my favorite track on the last album.
Gucci’s buzz has lost a little steam with his jail stint & The Blueprint 2 HD but I’m still curious to see what The Appeal holds.
