In the wake of Odd Future’s mostly amicable break up, it seems like Earl Sweatshirt has found a new counterpart in L.A. producer Knxwledge (Kendrick Lamar “Momma,” Anderson .Paak “Suede”). Though they haven’t collaborated until now, Earl and Knxwledge’s insular styles and shared love for dusty boom bap are a match made in hip-hop heaven. “Balance,” the pair’s first song together and the latest release in Adult Swim’s Singles Series, only confirms our suspicions as Knxwledge’s drowsy production brings out the best of Earl’s troubled mind.
