David Guetta And Nicki Minaj Go Medieval In “Turn Me On” (New Video)
Posted by Mr.North under Videos[9] Comments
The duo of David Guetta and Nicki Minaj bring us their medieval-themed video for the pop anthem, “Turn Me On.” Don’t expect the usual bright, colorful video we’ve become accustomed to in popular music, as the pair gives us a high-energetic and gloomy visual in support of Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat LP. Catch some suspense in the mini-movie from the #4 record in the country (#1 digitally) above.

Yipee…drag rap. Another sub-genre. I have a tight-jean wearing, mascara on his goatee coworker that saw this as I watched it and he said, “this is so NOT butch.” That floored me. I can appreciate hip-hop with some pop sensibilities if it’s at least bangin’ (Kanye does that well). This is NOT. I guess they’re throwing everything at the wall hoping something will stick after that “Stupid Hoe” fiasco to try to get some traction for that next album. Can someone let her hear the former Nicki Maraj on those mixtapes so she can remember what she once did? Damn it’s painful to watch and hear her these days. Please stop letting the hype man pick her features and ghostwrite her joints, it’s getting worst with each release.

I think Nicki should do more of this type of music. I rather her be a hoodrat version of Britney spears, rather than being a clone of lil kim. This song is hot.

This brings up a good question actually. Not so much why you’re posting this Info (I love all different types of music) but is Nicki really a hip hop artist? I mean, she has pretty much become the same over processed Auto Tuned out pop star that Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Kesha are. What makes her a hip hop artist? Hell Fergie raps as much as her.

I think it’s def an interesting topic and one that we’re asking more and more….eventually it will be a given that the traditional genre lines no longer hold. But more importantly, its supply to a demand. I don’t know anyone who only listens to “traditional” rap anymore. If you ask “old school” older music fans, they’re mixing R&B and maybe house into their Sat Night Chuck Chillout mixes. If you ask younger music fans, you’ll get everything from Sleigh Bells to Black Keys to Skrillex….and that’s not just white kids or euro kids. And lets not even get into music-fueled style: ASAP, OFWGKTA, etc….
So any time I hear someone complain about things outside of the pure hip hop realm, I hope they realize, there’s so much out there that they may be missing out on….and it won’t clash or take away from their love of hip hop. It may enhance it.

please don’t play the ‘you’re so small minded’ argument. it’s tired and inaccurate.
it’s sad that industry folk such as yourself would clap for your culture getting appropriated and then watered down beyond recognition.
there’s a huge difference between evolving a sound and watering it down/throwing away the elements that made that sound great in the first place. and you know perfectly well that Nicki doesn’t play to the ‘hip hop’ crowd. This is straight up dance music.
Black artists that do straight up pop/dance still get categorized as hip hop, lol. and then people in the hip hop community, who should and often DO know better, go along with it.
